So this pack is actually a reference to the 2004 e-HOBBY exclusive 6-pack. Takara decided to make repaints of 6 of the minibots with the names of gobots characters. And as these 3 are referencing those toys in particular, they do an alright job. However, back in 2004, those toys never really looked like the actual gobots characters either. There was some manga explaining that the gobots characters time-travelled into the future and changed their bodies to look like the minibots or something, I don't remember fully.

I vaguely remember that multipack myself, although for the purposes of this video, I wasn’t taking that into consideration, as my mind went straight to the original figures themselves. I may have been a little harsher than I should have been, but I still feel like they could have tried to make them closer to the original figures themselves, at least color-wise I would have been fine with.

@@Christolclear101 the point wasn't to make them look like the original gobots iteration but make them look like the e-hobby versions. i would think of it like how we have so many different iterations of optimus prime now, some based on cartoons, some based on toys and so many different designs throughout the years to reference (like optimus from animated)

Yes, they are more a reference to that e-hobby set. Personally, I think the red on Small Foot and the yellow on Pathfinder wind up on the same places as they are on Gears and Cosmos, making all four figures look too similar (and I don't like transforming the Warpath mold, takes forever to do those legs). Change those colors and I might have considered it. Definitely agree that the $75 price is WAY too high. Now if they could turn the 86 Wreck-Gar (or one of his retools) into Cy-Kill and Legacy Metalhawk into Leader-1, I might go for those...

I have Crasher and Bugbite. I would rather have had a regular Cosmos instead of a Gobot version. It would be cool if they Did a Transformers vs Gobots line.

Or have the Guardian Go-Bots team up with the Autobots and the Renegade Go-Bots team up with, or even plot against, the Decepticons. It wouldn’t be too difficult to incorporate them into the Transformers universe.

Velocitron Cosmos gets reissued either really late this year or fairly early next year I think.

It’s worth the $75 just to get the Cosmos mold, since he’s going for between that and $100 alone on Ebay. That seems to be the main purpose of this set; to give people another chance to get Cosmos, and doing it this way you get a couple of other cool figures along with it. And like everybody else said, yeah, these are more of an homage to the Ehobby Gobots set than the real Gobots. And they also go along with the Bugbite release from Earthrise and whoever the Huffer mold was used for a year or so back, filling the group out as best they can since there’s no current Powerglide to recolor yet.

@@raydenlord As far as Cosmos is concerned, the character himself is getting a rerelease later this year/ early next year, that for me wouldn’t be enough to drop the money on a set like this. And as I stated to another individual, I wasn’t even thinking of the E-Hobby set, my mind went straight to the originals. And Pipes was the one you were thinking of using the Huffer mold.

@@Christolclear101No, there was another recolor of Huffer. It was a two-pack. One was named Road Ranger, and the other was based on one of the Gobots from that Ehobby set.

Hasbro does not have the rights to the visual apperances of gobots in the cartoon etc, even if they own the company that owned Gobots, it's a weird rights loop that prevent Hasbro from doing a Cykill, a Leader 1, or whatever

I believe Harmony Gold owns the Gobots likeness rights. Just to stick it to Takara Tomy.

Probably go for G1 Jetfire as well. We will never see him. But we got Classic, Thrilling 30, Siege, MP now, that replaced G1.

@@jasonwalker9963Bandai still owns the original designs. They licensed some of them out to Action Toys several years back under the original Machine Robo name. A different company recently did a new version of Bike Robo (Cy-Kill), and it’s on Bigbadtoystore still. I think I heard that’s more like a model kit, maybe?

To make Pathfinder look more like Sea Spray is inexcusable for me, and probably bugs me more than anything else.
