My original Animated Prowl is in storage, but from what I recall the vehicle mode does a much better job of hiding the robot mode and doesn't have any of these gaps. I like how he looks more like a State Trooper with these proportions, but even for as loose as the Animated figure is, I still prefer the original. Thanks for looking at this one!
Agreed. I’ll still pick him up since I don’t have the original and it still looks good enough, but I feel like Hasbros just going to have to except that we really don’t like the forced g1-ification for designs that aren’t g1
With the added bulk this reminds me of Samurai Prowl, like he's wearing his sidecar upgrade. I never got that version when I was younger so I'd actually appreciate this, I can keep my original as "season one" Prowl and this as his upgraded form.
Finally, someone else who sees it that way! Someone else who sees the bulkiness, especially the helmet, as elements of the armor, and especially Yoketron's helmet
I have no idea why prime was the series they decided to not even try with in legacy. I feel like that entire lie Hasbro made about about legacy being G1-ified versions of characters was just an excuse to try and cover for the fact the prime characters look absolutely nothing like what they should.
i picked up thus figure today because Prowl has ALWAYS been my favorite Transformers (Animated) Autobot because of his design, i mean come on. A Ninja Motorcycle!? That's freaking SICK!! Although, i wouldn't say this figure is The Best one, the design is really good and the painting is Great, the posability on the legs is probably the best i've seen in awhile, although the arms are...a bit lacking. The way the arms are Attached are loose, not Stupidly loose but their manageable, the Accessories are. Just what the hell. I know it comes from the animated show, their a bit lacking, and how He holds them in Robot mode (for my figure) is Horrible. He has a bitch grip, and how they unfold to be shurikens is confusing. The bike mode..ehhhhhhhhh its Okay. Its not good but not bad. it's just 'OKAY' Final Thoughts?: It's a pretty good figure, there are some problems but it's manageable. The bike mode is lacking, but it looks good for what it is. Final Score: 6.7/10 Also the gaps in the Bike mode can go to hell. i can probably finger the gaps if i wanted too.
This feels like the "let's make animated look like every other line" prowl. However, if someone didn't have animated prowl proper, I could see getting this due to cost purposes.
I mean his alt mode looks good from a certain angle but other than that his bike mode is just ew. I'll wait on this until some third party like DNA Design makes the Samurai upgrade that fixes some of these issues.
Is he as good as his original version? No. But I welcome him for being such a course correction compared to the non-Skyquake Prime releases in Legacy*. Instead of fighting against the original design’s stylization, the designers chose to work with it. *I much prefer Bulkhead to his original Prime design and Knock Out works surprisingly well as a Jazz retool, but Arcee is where it felt the most like the designers banged their nuts against the TFP style and its refusal to have designs that play nice with current budgets.
I personally feel like they should have steered into the curve and given Prowl more G1 style facial proportions; I'll agree that going half in on the Animated style just doesn't work. Maybe have a fully Animated style head and a G1 styled alternative head? Anyway I'm waiting for someone to design and then 3d print his side-car that parts forms into his samurai armor.
Does that mean the transformers prime legacy figures are alternate universe versions of those characters? That’s the only way I will be able to accept the knock out that they gave us as part of this legacy line.
Nah, the shuriken issues are not just on your copy. I've seen several reviewers complain about their inability to auto-transform. This is just another example of poor Hasbro QC and cheapness.
It's weird all round. Most poignant criticism is the alt mode. That is quite poor regardless. This is one of those "Animated Prowl in G1 style" situations I feel. They did Bulkhead and Barricade, so fair play to them attempting Prowl but it is disappointing. Plus, once they released "Samurai Prowl", there was no topping that.
this is a figure that I'll be waiting for Samurai armor before trying to get, I think it needs it to really feel complete, maybe those will come with some way to deal with the gaps. I wonder if it would've been too much to have extra panels that flip out of the back wings to cover the gaps in robot mode
Or because the legacy universe changes the shape of others universe's characters into a more g1 esthetic of course it dosen't effect all universe characters like the Japanese and Unicron continuity because they in one way or another, fall in within the g1 esthetic of course that is my reasoning for the g1 esthetic for none g1 characters with more stylized design .
It's a good G1-ified homage to Animated Prowl, but this isn't Animated Prowl. Same goes to all the Prime Universe Legacy figures (Bulkhead, Arcee, Knock Out, Skyquake). They're good G1 versions of those characters. As the actual Prime Universe characters they're meant to represent, they fall short. The Beast Wars characters are accurate, as are the Unicron Trilogy characters.
It's a stepping stone. I think hasbro is afraid that the Geewunners won't buy something if it doesn't look just like their other stuff. Would love to see a Studio Series Animated line or something.
@@BoisegangGaming It's not that they think everything looking G1 sells, it's that they wanted Legacy to fit aesthetically with the WFC trilogy, so having 1:1 figures for stylized properties like Prime and Animated would look extremely out of place, especially since most other toylines like Unicron Trilogy are close enough to G1 aesthetic already
Why do people say that? Just because Hasbro said it as some marketing nonsense to pass off versions of characters that are nothing like what they are supposed to be? This is not TFA prowl and it is also nothing like a G1 character.
Managed to pick up the original over the weekend. Depressing how much better a 15 year old figure is than this, in pretty much every way I can think of apart from maybe the ankle joints. Easy pass.
I think this is more what the TFA characters would look like without the stylized aesthetic of Derek J Wyatt, as even the humans looked cartoony in terms of proportions.
If you didn’t like this, it shouldn’t matter what it’s called. If I got the toy, I would be happy to have it. Is it the original no But I don’t expect it to be it’s more of a downgrade of the original, and I would just be lucky
hey nosy that’s my opinion - mind your own business we can also see each other in person if you want to have a problem in real life ‘cause I don’t mind NOSY
