I think Getaway is easier to hate than Megatron because Getaway got into personal manipulation. On your lifespan, you'll likely never meet personally with a mass murderer, or a dictator, but you will, more than once, meet with a manipulator. Someone who thinks low of you but sticks around and fakes friendship, even love interest, for their own benefit, is why Getaway's betrayal feels more personal.
I know Getaway has a point, Megatron killed thousands of his own kind and organic life, and I've hated his character for a really long time, but what Getaway did, so not acceptable, he put his friends in the path of the DJD and other deadly Decepticons to be slaughtered, friends he's fought beside, friends he has known for millions of years, just so he can get Megatron off the ship. This is why I HATE Getaway more than Megatron
Yeah, what I'm getting at here is that Getaway had understandable motives and even a small amount of regret for what he has done. In Lost Light however, all of that is forgotten in the lengths James goes to make Getaway the most irredeemable piece of slime there is. As if Getaway from MTMTE never even existed.
"Small" correction, but Megs didn't kill in the thousands, or tens if thousands, hundreds of thousands, or even millions... He was convicted of murder on a scale of *104.7 billion*
He's fun to hate, characters like him that are twist villains and traitors tend to be easier and more fun to hate because they trick their friends and the audience too. It creates a certain level of personal grudge.
We hate him because that’s just how he is written which is usually the sign of a villain being written well. You’re supposed to want the good guys to win against them, to fume more and more until victory is achieved and you can share that victory dance over their corpse. Not all villains need to be sympathetic or human enough that you could sit down and have a drink with them. Some of them need to be monsters that are only good for one thing: making you wish it was you that gets to pull the metaphorical trigger.
The fact that people do hate him is because he IS a "good" villain. He's like the joffrey of the lost light crew. Every time I thought he sunk low, he went lower and lower. He's the kind of villain you love to hate with every fiber of your being.
Lol like Getaway had a point for betraying them and it brings a question of should a genocidal tyrant be forgiven if they want to be redeemed. But LL is like naw man, Getaway just wants to be a Prime muhahaha evil boy is evil.
Getaway was already planning to take over the ship before Megatron was put on. It’s why Atomizer gave Rodimus the fake list of names. Also, the way Getaway operated before the mutiny showed he was never willing to risk his own skin to get what he wanted. First getting Whirl to antagonize Megatron, then making Tailgate a sacrificial lamb. Even Atomizer giving Rodimus the fake list instead of himself. Someone else is always there to take the fall for Getaway. That doesn’t make Getaway irredeemable, but it does make it unsurprising what direction the Lost Light took under him.
He pretended to love Tailgate so he could convince him to break into Megatron's quarters, in the hopes that Megatron would panic and kill him, allowing the crew to execute him or at least get rid of him. Tailgate was a sacrifice
i feel no sympathy for megs right now. getaway couldn't ejected him out the airlock, would not give a frag. the only thing that makes me mad the level of slag Roddy goes through with no recognition at all minus Drift and a few others
In Later Lost light issues, specifically the mutineers trilogy and the first part of the crucible, the crew members who agreed with Getaway assumed he sold out the exiled crew members which wasn't the case, but he made matters worse due to working with an infamous mnemosurgeon to alter the crew's memories, and worked with the grand architect, and essentially pulled a Starscream like move by sacrificing his crew by allowing them to be sparkeaters, to save his own skin.
1:51 Getaway turns out to be a selfish, narcissistic sociopath in Lost Light, but he DOES raise one hell of a valid point about Megatron's crimes. And it's a testament to his character arc that Megatron acknowledges this by the series finale.
I remember talking with my mom (RIP) about if comics can have compelling story lines. I used this as an example. Can a being who spent millions of years fighting a war of choice that killed billions, even trillions, be forgiven and see the error of their ways?
I know that Getaway is the bad guy of More then meets the eye” IDW comics and I know everything that he has done to the point of hating him but I can’t argue with that logic of hating Megatron, he has a good damn point for everything that monster has done, so morality calls this a draw, so I am no feeling any guilt or empathy for these two maniacs
getaways i don't think we met anyways you don't need to know who i am, but you need to know that megatron have become a better person and better than ever so to remind you i hope you know you going to backfire and soon everyone will know who you are.
What was Optimus thinking that trial was a mockery it's like prime, megs, screamer prowl was all in cahoots how did screamer get in the Senate back in autocracy and why was he allowed in the autobots circle and why was he allowed to be ruler of Cybertrin he killed people in Megatron's 📛
@@berilsevvalbekret772 he can’t change what he did but he did see the error of his ways, it does not erase the horrors that he committed but at least he realized he was wrong and deeply regretted his past actions Getaway never did many people died because of him and he died unrepentant Also it’s Getaway’s fault that Skids died so I hate him for that too Someone changing and being redeemed doesn’t mean forget everything bad they did but it’s still better that they admit they were wrong and to regret what they did than to keep up what they were doing not believing themselves to be wrong and not feeling the least bit guilty for the horrors they committed Both Megatron and Getaway were responsible for horrible things but Megatron regretted it and was redeemed (by his later actions. He wasn’t just magically forgiven like nothing ever happened) while Getaway’s only regret was probably that he never got to be “the 1st Prime without the Matrix”
I kinda love how many people here are saying Getaway was right, as if Megatron continued to be a tyrant after these events. He went on to help a whole Cybertron from another universe before returning to this one to save it, regardless of the execution he'd soon face. I wouldn't excuse what he did, but Getaway is in no position to act all high and mighty after manipulating Tailgate and sending half the crew to go die to the most psychotic Decepticon warriors in the universe.
He killed 104.7 BILLION LIFE FORMS ACROSS THE GALAXY! You understand that right? After this NONE of the 'good' he did matters. NONE. Its like saying hitlers adopting few kids would redeem him. This is ridiculous. Wanna redeem Megatron? Don't make his crime so henious. And don't make him an Autobot. I am so glad IDW lost their liscense. Redeeming a genocidal maniac while victim blaming all those who have suffered under him was horrific.
More like robot space Stalin. Came from lower classes in an oppressive society. Fought against the corrupt elite. Went mad with power. OTOH Hitler saw those different from him as inferior and hated them. Megatron saw organics as inferior but more of an annoyance at best and obstacles at worst. The IDW rebooted Megatron has more parallels with Hitler. I hope the next Megatron in the Energon Universe is based on King Leopold II of Beligum and his greed for money and resources, no matter who gets killed in the process. Dude wiped out half the population of what's today called the Republic of Congo. Pure evil and ego.
