I prefer the Earthrise version, however I did swap the front bumper and weel assembly between these two so my ER prime has black color molded wheels with painted silver rims now. The shade of red plastic between the two is the same so it looks fantastic.
Honestly, this figure is ok. I dig the more vibrant tones of Earthrise, and I don’t care much about battlemasters. I’ll probably skip this, but what I won’t skip is your other Netflix reviews! I’m eagerly awaiting the review of Netflix Soundwave, Netflix nemesis and Siege Tigertrack!
One can never have too many Primes. I do like these grey windows more than the blue ones. I have also heard of an Amazon exclusive, which would be clever to have an Amazon.. Prime.
Definitely getting this. Didn't want to pay $50 for the previous one, so I'm all for this, especially since I also don't really have space for the trailer anyway.

I was gonna buy the Earthrise version with the trailer but im glad i held off. This Optimus looks just as good, costs $10 less, and comes with his iconic weapons. I'll definitely be getting this guy.
I just love the way everything packs properly in his truck mode and the way all the parts come together to make a very accurate optimus prime without any backpack.
I actually prefer the blue windshields over these duller ones, but I'll probably pick this guy up to add to the collection anyways, great review as always. Edit: I kinda wish they could remove that silver stripe on his forearm, but I get it is for the truck mode.
the fact that it's a cheaper pricepoint AND it has better paint AND it comes with two extra functional accessories instead of a big box- makes me really want this even more than the ER one.
Going to use this as my '86 Movie Optimus Prime alongside the Studio Series '86 figs - the darker colors, added yellow on the pelvis, vibrant eyes and fully black rifle all seal the deal for me, and also allow it to display well as a G2 version alongside Selects Megatron. Now if only there was an Earthrise Megatron that equaled it!
I dunno why everyone hates the battle damage.. I think it adds so much character and makes it unique compared to other figures, especially when its a repaint! Really wish he did have some to match Meg's.
I'm not going to lie - I do like this color scheme a lot BETTER than the original release. I've just invested alot into the original (painting the legs, upgrade kits, and repro labels) I'll more than likely pass on this (unless it goes on clearance maybe). Love the darker red and blue and the eyes now pop.

Honestly I prefer this version over the original earthrise version. The darker colors look a lot better and give me a lot of movie/TFP vibes. Plus it’s cheaper to get too since it doesn’t have the trailer with it.
Would have been a Great time to fix the Color of the Plastic in a few places, the Grey on the arms for Red, Grey on Legs for Blue would have really made it a Must Buy.
I think WFC Prime does have increased range of motion with his head. But, at least based on your video, it looks like that's because somehow the sculpt where his head attaches is a bit different. It looks like there's less of an attempt to create the appearance of a neck. That allows for increased motion, but at the expense of it looking more like his head it just floating.
I’m planning on getting both the Earthrise and Netflix versions of this Prime. I’m gonna use them as different incarnations of the character in a stop motion adaptation of/ sequel to the Marvel G1 comics I’m hoping to make. I’m gonna use ER Prime as his original Earth form, MB-06 Power Baser as his Powermaster body, and the Netflix version as his post-powermaster Generation 2 body.
I thouhht the “Netflix” versions came out before Earthrise.. even before Siege.. but I guess it makes more sense to have each of those first and then a “group” version last for those who missed Siege in the beginning.
As I somehow managed to find the original release at retail, I will not be picking up the Netflix version. The Netflix version is certainly a good figure, but I prefer the colour scheme of the standard release, and the trailer is a major bonus for me.
I love this mold of optimus prime. The only trouble I'm having is the paint on his head is being rubbed off slowly during transformation. I wish they would've given more clearance in his chest so it wouldn't rub against the painted areas of his head.
If I could turn back the clock to 2 years ago I would always do collection videos but honestly lately it’s got so out of control it’s really a giant mess now haha
This was a great review. I'm going to be honest, I wasn't really inclined to pick this up at first, but this review might have changed my mind. The Battlemasters look really nice, and the darker colors fit the mold. I'll definitely get Netflix Soundwave first, then Optimus.
The more I this toy’s colors , I think of the original G1 Cartoon because in the cartoon Optimus Prime’s head and legs are this navy blue. Also Optimus Prime’s torso is sometimes a darker shade of red.
Shame about the missing paint apps but those should be easy enough to add. Overall this version looks way better, and especially since it doesn't come with the trailer that I don't really care about and don't have space to display, this is definitely the one I want.
This figure is better than the earthrise one because he is worth the leader class price, because he comes with 2 battlemasters instead of a stupid piece of hollow plastic.
I adore the ER version, I also have the "Dead" version too, which is also amazing. I think I like this new Netflix version a little more though, in terms of colours it seems closer to the original G1 toy. Yes, Hasbro, you WILL make me buy the same toy 3 times..... Sigh.
The only thing I think this figure does better is the silver paint on the front tires. Otherwise, the original is better imo. I will say, this guy looks very G1 toy accurate in terms of color and is a good option for those who missed out on the original.
Pretty sure they went with this over the Siege is because some people did not want to pay leader for the trailer. I for one am much more open to this one than getting the leader version
I like that Netflix Optimus a little more. Man you must have iron Jaw non stop talking. Doesn't even sound like you took a gasp of air motor mouth Energizer power.
The comparisons parts of this video assume you can get both currently only the netflick one is available and on sale the previous one is at least double the price on the 3rd party market
I definitely don't like grey/"silver" plastic. It still looks very plastic. Maybe it is cheaper or more environmental than a silver paint job. But otherwise, all the Primes for the last few years have been very nice.
I think I'll pass on this one. The more visible eyes is the most compelling aspect. But beyond that, the color palette with the very dark blue and the slightly green transparent elelements gives the figure a more...dingy quality to me that I'm just not interested in. Sort of like 'Evil Superman' from Superman III.
I have a question, is the back of the head painted blue or is it actually a blue plastic this time? That's one of my minor issues with Earthrise Prime.
