Transformers Studio Series 86 Leader Class GRIMLOCK & Autobot Wheelie Review 

What a beast. Amazing review! Now I'm conflicted whether I should get this or not, given that Kingdom is going to destroy my wallet.

Grimlock lacks his sword because in one shot in The Movie hes holding his double barrel blaster when flying from unicron "Me grimlock need new strategy"

An official Grimlock figure by Hasbro with a T-Rex mode that actually looks good? Now that's something that you don't usually see.

As a kid born in 2006 and having the privilege to watch this amazing movie, this figure brings a tear to my eyes and this figure really captures the G1 feel of the movie and show

this grimlock honestly may be the best generations grimlock ever literally stomping on all the POTP ones. Awesome review, I'm pretty surprised the dino mode neck doesn't have the transparent neck piece as there were stock images with him having it. Maybe, and I'm hoping this is the case of PrimevsPrime having a prototype version but none the less an overall amazing Grimlock figure.

I stopped buying mp years ago and saved the money just incase a saw a line that was really great. That being said the studio series and war for cybertron lines have taken all that money and some and i have no regrets! They really are great lines!

This figure really seems on par, and in some ways maybe even better, than the MP Grimlock we got some years ago. Hasbro is seriously killing it with their engineering lately.

Looks amazing! I agree with you that Hasbro/Takara have hit their pinnacle! It’s taken them forever to get to this point it seems. I had to go through some dark times as a transformer collector, and for many many years I bought nothing new, but over the past five years between third part and hasbro, im back to throwing money at nostalgia again. Thank god they finally found the formula that makes the fans stand up and recognize their brilliance.

Grimlock looks awesome, the sculpt and design make this figure incredible!

The group shot looks amazing. Fun stuff. As far as Masterpiece figures go, I never felt like I need every character in Masterpiece form. I've picked and chose which ones I want over the years. But this is knocking it out of the park for me.

Wow a leader that is actually big, that's rare

Masterpiece will always have a place. While this figure looks great there will always be some people who want more details and articulation.

In that 86 group shot, Magnus is the only one who really sticks out, being a lot more greebled than the others. But he's getting an earth mode figure in Kingdom so that's fine. Springer looks good, he just needs a new release with a clean paintjob. I hope they do that at some point

All that attention to detail just shows the designers love their job. Good thing!

Grimlock has been my favorite Transformer since I was a kid so I couldn't be more excited about this figure! It looks so good! Hopefully we get a G2 repaint.

Ahh aren't the simple/basic tranformers just so satisfying:- Colour , accuracy , articulation and transformation wise. The live action movie based ones just cannot do the same.

Looks like the best grimlock Hasbro/takara has ever released.And it also looks great as far as size comparison goes,it was a good idea to make him a the largest class figure in the line.

Great review, I'm looking forward to getting him. Wheelie looks great, however I'm a little disappointed by his limited articulation and lack of transformation. All in all I say 10 out of 10

I ended up receiving this as a Christmas present from my older brother. He also gave me a Galactic Snackin' Grogu that same day. Talk about lucky!

I used to dislike the versions of Grimlock that had that clear plastic shield on his chest. But this Grimlock actually locks better with it.

I would like to have seen it compared to the masterpiece figure, I have that in my collection and wonder if this should replace it or not. I use it as my CHUG Grimlock as it fits the bill size wise

As the owner of a MP Grimlock, I gotta say this is some pretty creative engineering to solve the same type of problem with a much smaller parts count. Outside of that, all you're really missing is some electroplating for the gold paint.

Finally got him today and the solid neck is super weird, especially since it's shown a few times ON THE BOX, but the illustrations show it as solid. I guess they covered both bases.

Honestly, I already stopped collecting the MP figures when they took their random turn to slavish cartoon accuracy over the older realistic vehicle form and more real-world looking robot form approach... Basically once they started designing them to look like the actual cartoon characters and started going with all the super cartoon-accurate colors it really turned me off. In my opinion MP10 and the original MP Bumble(bee) figures are FAR superior to the new versions of both characters, and every new MP announcement/release has just driven that home for me - for example, the new starscream's weird bubble-chest cockpit just rubs me the wrong way. I likes the original range of MP figures because they were highly complex figures that took a really realistic approach to vehicle mode design, while still maintaining the g1 bot designs - but I never wanted them to literally look like the on-screen cartoon characters. It just looks weird in my opinion. To each their own, I suppose, but I'm far happier to get these smaller, more wide-release retail figures that I would be to spend 100s of dollars on the new MP figures I don't actually care for.

I pre ordered this to go along with my chugs, but my Fans Toys grinder will forever be my masterpiece figure!

I finally figured out why Grimlock is missing his upper teeth! Wheelie's head fits perfectly in there & Grimlock can hold him. "Me Grimlock hungry!"

On the bright hand side when it comes to wheelie, that is the best headscupt for him we've ever gotten

I've already bought 2 grimlocks this year.....looks like i'm getting a 3rd. The 86 movie is my favorite piece of transformers media. Don't get me wrong i love my fantoys and gigapower versions, not to mention Wrath but this guy is a no brainer . Him, Hot Rod and Kup are a must have for me.

I started assembling my '86 movie team begining with the Titans Returns line. Now most are getting replaced wi the Studio Series versions. I didn't think we'd get a G1 Grimlock that scaled but I'm so happy we are. Now my fingers are crossed for Galvatron somewhere down the line.

Now that's Grimlock the huge scale is perfect.. You can even put Grimlock next to Kup .. "Me Grimlock! loves Kup's war stories.."

I think I'll still get masterpiece figures for their size alone, plus it just feels more for adults, but this studio series line is still pretty awesome

We've already gotten good G1 Grimlock figures. Maybe if it came with an actual transformable Wheelie I would be interested.

The figure hasn't too much from 30 years ago when it was first released. There are definitely more joints and movements, but the main look hasn't changed too much. Even back then, it was one of the better figures.

i think materials and articulation are where I want the masterpiece line to focus. if they had the same quality of engineering as these recent ss figures. give us butter fly joints, and more diecast.

I can agree to a certain point about the "mini-MP" term. Plastic only Mini-MP because some MPs have die cast metal parts.

He is AMAZING!!! this is truly gonna be a "MASTERPIECE" collection of dinobots!!

MPs are definitely still premium collectors pieces, however studio series are a good affordable alternative for us poor people.
