I still find it so mindblowing how Hasbro managed to make really solid alt modes out of ILM's CGI models, which weren't intended to transform. I was just looking at the concept art from the film and learnt that they only decided to do the Cybertron sequence after some fan screenings when people wanted more transformer action, so they had to quickly cobble something together. They had 3 base CG models: Bee, OP and Shatter, plus the existing assets from previous films, and from there, they had to make the rest of the transformers that we see in the Cybertron sequences. Shockwave, Soundwave and the rest of the Autobots used Bee's rigged model, which was then tweaked to give the different characters. Absolutely crazy right? I reeeally hope they give us a figure based on OP's original Cybertronian look from the concept art, that design is incredible, the alt mode cab looks just like the WFC game truck!
I actually recently read that too! It’s crazy when you think that the Cybertron scene might never have existed! 😭😱 & you can definitely see similarities, in particular would be OP & Soundwave 🤩
@@PrimeVsPrime The film would probably have been received far differently if not for the Cybertron flashbacks, it would've been a much less eventful and emotionally charged film, because the scene gives the whole film context and a reason for the film to take place.
Fun fact, the bumblebee movie marks the start of a new universe of transformers. It was originally a prequel for the Michael Bay movies, and he only turns into his old camaro as a reference to those films.
@@ADAMSTORM2005 i know its not a prequel to Bay verse, but that's what the studios apparently thought it was going to be. Glad it became its own thing later on in production.
Ironhide was always my favorite ever since I first saw him in TF1. "My weapon specialist, Ironhide" *Twirls twin cannons around his arms* "you feeling lucky, punk?" "Easy Ironhide" "What? I just wanted to show him my cannons" I miss him so damn much...
Honestly the 2007 cast was a pretty good one, I usually think of Jess Harnell as Ironhide and Hugo Weaving as Megatron nowadays. If we had those voice actors play these versions of the characters, that would be amazing
I usually think of Frank Welker as Megatron but for Ironhide definitely Jess Harnell. I think Ironhide from the bay verse had like a badass design as the cannons help to give Ironhide character.
The fact that most of g1 ironhide figure in now days still have the great-iconic g1 design, this is one of the reasons why this figure become my fan favourite so easily
This is probably one of my fan favourite ironhide figures after the siege-earthrise one,i love the fact that siege&earthrise and bee movie ironhides still has the iconic g1 design
1:45 1- The Bumblebee film isn’t apart of the Bayverse, so he wouldn’t be in the ‘07 film. 2- We don’t know the full Autobot cast in Rise of the Beasts (only what the Director shown us) so Ironhide, Ratchet, and Brawn could be in RotB too.
*The film is so insecure it cannot decide if it's a prequel or a reboot so I just considered it's not even canon at this point and Bumblebee was a Chad WWII soldier*
@@TerminatorTheory The Bumblebee film started out as a prequel to the Bayverse. But, late in production, Travis Knight decided to do extensive reshoots and add that amazing Cybertron opening scene to turn it into a soft reboot. It’s Hasbro and Lorenzo di Bonaventura who refuse to admit it is a soft reboot. Hopefully, Rise of the Beasts can confirm to us what we’ve already known!
With these Cybertronian Bumblebee figures I feel like we're ALMOST getting a The War Within toy line. The stylistic sensibilities are definitely in the same ballpark. It's refreshing. From a design perspective these is easily the best line since Animated.
ironhide and ratchet don't exactly look alien to me, but more like future colony vehicles. like something you'd see colonists drive around in lost in space, or the expanse. people said all the autobots use the same gun, but i can now definitely say they have slightly different guns. the differences may be very subtle, but while they have the same core design the different molds do have tiny differences in details such as attachment ports. like ironhide and ratchet get a sturdy tab for back mounting, while brawn gets small peg holes for back mounting and a small peg to mount his drill.
I really liked this iron hide, I found the transformation mechanics cool and especially the look of the character in the transformers adaptation Bumblebee
For the size and price, it’s not bad! It would’ve been nice to have some form of hatch clip in the back of the legs to cover the obvious hollowness of it, but other than a few small things, I’ll definitely pick this one up.
Got mine yesterday, and I really like it. The transformation was confusing at first (I like to try the first transformation without instructions) but after learning it it's easy and fun. Painting is surprisingly good, though the contrast to the red plastic is little jarring if you focus on it, not too bad though. For a chunky boi, his articulation is pretty good. Would like a wrist swivel and a better ankle pivot. (You can fake a torso sway if you untab the torso, though it's not that tight.) The shoulders and hips are a little looser than I'd like. I'm not a fan of the ball joint being attached to the head, I prefer the inverse. Overall though 7/10.
This reminds me of the bay Ironhide ik that this isn't the same Ironhide we all know and love in bay transformers movies but I am glad that Ironhide makes a little cameo in the bumblebee movie. Also this Ironhide design looks pretty cool 😎 Not the Ironhide we want😔 But the one we deserve 😎
I remember going to see this film in the cinema with my dad and my sister and being really shocked at how amazing the CG designs were. They were so much more accurate to G1 which is always a plus for me. I grew up with the bay films but before that my dad introduced me to the G1 cartoon and I was one of the rare kids who much preferred the G1 designs. This film proves that the G1 films can definitely work effectively in film form. If you look at IronHide’s CG design photos you can see that the hips and thighs are supposed to be all grey. I am also so happy they have Ironhide back to his original colours (which suit him so much better). My only problem with the film was the fact it was trying to be a prequel to the bay films and I would have much rather they had rebooted the franchise with the New designs. I also didn’t like bumblebee changing to the Kamero at the end. Overall I love it. Xx
I hope we see Wheeljack working on a prototype of 2007 cannons for Ironhide. Prime Ironhide is still my ideal Ironhide design that combines Live Action and G1.
No offense to Ratchet, but that blazing red makes Ironhide look even better. This has got to be the best looking design and Studio Series deluxe ever. Your photography at the beginning of these reviews is really doing the figures justice too, PVP!
The painting and sculpting is amazing, hasbro and takara outdid themeselves- this easily the best Ironhide representation we’ve got in years yada yada yada. Buy it.
Now let's just hope that Hasbro, and Takara Tomy makes a Cybertronian version of Thundercracker, Skywarp, Shatter, Dropkick, Blitzwing, and Optimus Prime, and a Bumblebee Movie version of Megatron.
My studio Bumblebee Ratchet just arrived and I just love the transformation! But I... have issues with overall size, vehicle mode is small. Like a hamster in the palm of my one (small) hand! These Ratchet and Ironhide figures would've been perfect if they were voyager sized! But that's just me, don't let my thoughts put you off, it's a great figure!
I wish HasTak would keep using that type of head articulation where the ball joint is in the head itself, just like with the Siege SIdeswipe mold. It gives the head more range of articulation, really.
If you have the original theres an upgrade kit from DNA design that gives him the guns as well as a new chest piece and feet that makes him more accurate
Meh, I miss the days when the movie characters had their own unique look. EVERYTHING is G1-inspired nowadays. Kind of boring, shows a lack of imagination
I've decided to get rid of my siege figures and replace them with the BB movie figures, they look so much more like cybertronian mode figures than the siege one does. Also they make for a great distinction between Earth mode and Cybertron mode.
I have the ratchet studio series. I’m looking to collect this because I think it would be cool to be paired up with my ratchet. Thanks for the review primevsprime!
Actually, we won’t see him in 2007 film because Bumblebee has been confirmed to be a reboot so his fate is up in the air when it comes to the next time he appears.
Rise of the beast has been stated to be a trilogy so maybe if they continue the off road style of the cars we might see iron hide and ratchet in it in like the second or third part of the trilogy, like ratchet could have a hummer ambulance style alt mode like the first transformers movie by Michael bay
Fun fact ironhide appears twice in bumblebee because if you look behind ratchet before and after the giant orange autobot runs by you can see ironhide in the background
This video somehow reminded me of the multipacks we used to get from hasbro. It would be amazing if we could get a dinobot studio series 5 pack or like a TF1 autobot crew 5 pack for around 130 USD. Stuff like that used to be exciting and fun and different. Really hope hasbro considers it and brings them back. Like imagine an optimus and sentinel two pack.
I never really found this design for Ironhide super appealing. I mean, he is a neatly updated G1 Ironhide, but I think I’d either go with just good old G1 Ironhide, or my preferred Ironhide, the original Michael Bay TF trilogy Ironhide. That doesn’t mean this reincarnation doesn’t look bad, but I do like the originals, as well as Michael Bay making Ironhide and Ratchet unique to each other, instead of nearly just being recolored clones.
This is amazing I can’t wait for the transformers studio series voyager class bumblebee movie ironhide it cool I can’t wait for it in store 🏬 summer 2022
I think I know why the rims are grey instead of red, I believe it's because they had to balance out the colours. If they had made the thighs completely grey, then the panel with the yellow stripe in vehicle mode would've looked weird, because there would be no red to balance it out, alternatively, had they made the thighs red so that it blends into the alt mode, then the robot mode's legs would've been bland, because the front of his thighs form part of the roof, so a compromise had to be made by making the top part of his thighs red and the bottom grey. 'What does this have to do with the rims?' you may be asking... Well, when compromises are made like that, you've got to even it out by making sure that every side looks its best, this can include having rims be grey so that it complements itself, because you've got grey at the top and red at the bottom at the back, so... it would only make sense that at the front it would be the opposite, because had they made the rims grey and painted the faux rim grey, then the robot mode's legs would've looked weird, because there would be too much grey, alternatively, had they made the rims red, then there would be nothing to complement the red and grey on the thighs in alt mode. Ratchet worked, because he was mostly white and red, Ironhide, however, is mostly red, black and grey, which makes things a lot harder!! TL;DR Version: This mould did the designers dirty!!
I’ve got all the autobots that appear on screen in the movie if they did an Optimus I’d pick it up to complete the Cybertron cast but I wouldn’t get a Megatron as he’s frozen on ice in the film and I really only want the on screen appearances
About the autobot grunt/autobot seeker Using the ironhide/ratchet cybertron mold for that reminds me of the Transformers Animated Botcon exclusive autobot troopers which they could do
0:14 The past meeting the future 6:48. Different continuity, but you get the idea. Awesome. BB movie Ironhide looks awesome! -Now all we need from the BB movie for Studio Series is a voyager class Shockwave, the other seekers like Thundercracker and Skywarp (with many more seeker repaints), a cybertronian Optimus Prime, and maybe a cybertronian Megatron. And yeah, there was some concept art of Autobot troopers base on this Ironhide/Ratchet body design.
the only problem i have with this figure is that the waist and hip joints are insanely loose. just lightly touching him is enough to make him bend to the left or right.
