If Soundwave was the basis of the Decepticon logo was the Autobot one inspired by anyone in particular?

Loved when Prime Soundwave trolled Optimus with a techno remix and then displaying a smiley to mock him.

Intrestingly soundwave is shown to be caring of his cassets. He will pet and play with them. And while shown to be rather emotionless he was quite upset and worried in carange in c-minor when his tapes might be erased and in danger.

Always felt that Soundwave was the scariest Con. Ever silent, ever watchful. Always there, yet you barely notice him. Even has his own Brute squad when stuff goes sideways. I’d bet he even puts the shakes in other Cons.

What I like about most versions of Soundwave is that he is not like his Decepticon brethren .He is not pathetically sadistic and arrogant , desperate to be seen as superior .He simply demonstrates it by doing his job professionally and effectively .He simply is the Superior Decepticon .

Part of what made Soundwave so popular was his absolute loyalty to Megatron. In most media at the time, the villains are depicted to be backstabbing, cunning, and cruel. Soundwave, by contrast, seemed to genuinely support Megatron, and cared deeply for his cassettes, which I think helped him stand out from

IDW Soundwave is my personal favorite interpretation; he never quit Decepticonism and Megatron's goal, and, by joining Optimus, not only did he realize all life deserve respect, but he decided to atone for his sins, too. I love redemption stories.

Seeing Soundwave with a mouth is very uncomfortable

The only thing I don't understand about Soundwave is his motivations. Why is he so loyal to Megatron when most of the other Decepticons would jump at the chance of taking over? Soundwave was the closest thing to a friend that Megatron ever had. Megatron never raised a hand to Soundwave even when his plans failed. He'd give Starscream a good thumping every other episode just because.

I loved TF:Prime's version of Soundwave, because he was like the transformers slenderman, and calculated EVERY action he took.

Its actually been said/theorized that both Soundwave and Shockwave are more powerful than Megatron and, had it not been for their loyalty to him, either one could rule the Decepticons

Really loved him in G1, but even more so in Transformers: Prime. His silent presence is so utterly terrifying and when he broke his vow of silence, "Soundwave superior. Autobots inferior!", the viewers got chills.

I think it's a crime that Buzzsaw has gotten so little attention compared to the other cassettes. If you read their original bios from the G1 toys, Buzzsaw is described as a character who views the destruction of his enemies as an art form, systematically tearing them apart by strafing them with his sharp beak. Whereas Laserbeak can best be described as Starscream-lite.

Prime's Soundwave is fascinating to me. They took a character who is well known for having a distinctive voice and made him almost entirely silent, with only a single line of Dialogue with his own voice in the entire series. This could have backfired on the writers horribly. But they made him Ice cold and Badass as they come, sleek, efficient, and he ended up being the best damn character in the show.

The thing about soundwave that makes him somewhat more special is that he’s one of the few decepticons that is allowed to use G1 megatron’s gun form.

Soundwave... the True Believer. What ever form he takes in new media that always remains consistent and true. He's practically defined by his desire for a cause to serve. Its why I always love him.

IDW's Soundwave is one of my favourites by far, but that just ties in with how much love they give him in those comics. It's hard not to find a good quote of his in their run. Honestly, it might be fun to do an episode on transformers' mouths. and faceplates. IDW has some good examples of this for going over how it works. Think of it as a follow-up biology episode.

Transformers Prime: SUPERIOR Robots in Disguise: MAJORLY TOTALLY UNDOUBTEDLY COMPLETELY DEFINITELY INFERIOR

It's so cool that the original idea for soundwaves character showed up in Prime. I'll admit most soundwaves don't do much of that espionage stuff, but I was so happy to realize original soundwave and prime soundwave are so similar in behavior.

its pretty sad that you couldnt really tell soundwave was in the live action movies... they're a horrible mess... i want a reboot, directed and written by someone who knows the property...

TFP Soundwave is easily one of my favorite villains in any medium. If actions speak louder than words, he doesn’t waste a single message.

You know what I would love? A "the basics" on toy class sizes. deluxes, scouts, leader,.. What's the cut off for each size, how does a modern deluxe compair to an older scout... ect.

I'm late to the party but still, the prime version of Soundwave is my favorite. Incredibly loyal, efficient and with an elegant design. Not only that but the way he made fun of the autobots after being captured by them is one of the best scenes along wuth the scenes where he defeated Airachnid without much trouble

Starsream is second in command, but Soundwave is Megatrons right hand.

TFP Soundwave is the best he has a sleek and cool design that would take down anyone trying to interfere with Megatron's plan and the only way they could defeat him was by sending him to another dimension

Cybertron’s Soundwave was my first, but I love all Prime/RID’s Soundwave above all

I fricken loved transformers prime, but my favorite moment had to be soundwaves speaking line. It was so good, the timing was perfect! You don't beat soundwave, at least not without difficulty

I also love how in the IDW comics, Soundwave has a love of elephants and hangs out with a herd of them on earth.

Soundwave had coolest voice on the original G1 cartoon.

Christmas 1984....Soundwave was my first (and favorite) TRANSFORMER ....and still is all these years later.

I loved how the prime version made Soundwave look standoffish and fragile and then drastically remind everyone that he will put a bot down.

I like the idea of Soundwave being a good guy that fights for Cybertronian equality.

Soundwave gets underrated a lot, his skill set makes him potentially the most powerful card in Megatron's deck. For example, the IDW Revolution crossover had a reformed Soundwave under Optimus's command hack the entire GI Joe arsenal into shutdown, just before Mainframe unleashed a killer counter against him. He then incapacitated SNAKE-EYES, a.k.a. the Ninja Transformers Killer, along with Arcee, and the entire group of Micronauts (Including Acroyear after he hilariously stabbed Snake-Eyes in the shoulder after he stabbed Arcee in the eye), and I think Rom. Soundwave is a one man intelligence crew, a literal mind reader, and a scientist who can design specialised bodies such a Megatrons uber Ore-13 (Super Evergon) body complete with Space Bridge tech.

Even as a kid I recognized how cool Soundwave was. He was a 'con of few words so that always made him seem more in control. And he was unique in his loyalty to Megatron. The only version of Soundwave I ever got was the Fall of Cybertron version. I did also get all his data disc booster packs. I even found Buzzsaw on eBay complete with a tiny case. Ebay really is the ultimate cybertronian scrapyard.

I recently acquired the Soundwave mp3 player as a backup to when my iPhone is being charged by the computer. Haven't tried it out yet as I'm waiting for a miniSD card to arrive by special order. This is like trying to buy music for your 8-track player when all the stores have are CDs and some vinyls.

Though I wish they made more of him, in a similar way they do with Optimus Prime and Nemesis Prime. -6:57 I like the idea of the helicopter mode for Soundwave. -I like how the TF2: Revenge of the Fallen Soundwave toy has it G1 colors. The FOC Soundwave figure was technically a "triple-changer", he had his default car mode from the game, but also his boom box mode, which was a "secret" since it wasn't included in the instructions, absolutly amazed younger me

Soundwave is one of my absolute favourite characters in all his incarnations, but I love the most TFPrime Soundwave and IDW Soundwave. Fantastic video! Love your "Basics" videos. Please do more. There are a ton of these I'd love to watch. If I may suggest some ideas for the future; Basics about the Wreckers, about the Seekers, Rodimus, Megatron, Prowl, Ratchet, Combiners, and the Insecticons. Whatever video you'll make, I am looking greatly forward to watching it. :D

I always liked Soundwave. I always felt he was the least psychotic of the ‘con top brass - which gave the character plenty of scope to be more nuanced when the situation called for it.

Soundwave is an all time favorite when not fighting autobots he and Ravage are dancing to the tunes of heavy mettle. yes I said he dances to heavy mettle music. and like Shockwave he would stab fellow Decepticons in the back to accomplish anything. not every Decepticon was loyal to Megatron. Soundwave might proclaim himself leader if Megatron was destroyed or challenge others gaining more power. the loyal mini Decepticons are only loyal to Megatron and Soundwave. but which do you think they would follow more?

Soundwave is my favorite Transformer

I feel like the Cybertron version of Soundwave was more of an homage to Blaster and how he spoke like a DJ in Generation 1, or even the Junkion Wreck-Gar.

How I always saw soundwave Is like: While megaton is the big bad, bullying everyone who cannot meet his comically egotistical standards. Soundwave is the manipulative mastermind that’s personal agenda is to sow as much discord as possible for his enjoyment; and is probably one of if not the most pure evil characters in the series. Kinda in the same vein as characters like that of Griffith from berserk or makima from chainsaw man personality wise. With him mainly working as an character foil to starscream. And his relationship with megaton best described (from his perspective) as either megaton being so full of himself that he doesn’t realize he’s eating out of soundwave’s hand or he does realize just how much of an menace he is but is caught in too much of an catch 22 situation to do anything. Like, dead ass we seen on multiple occasions soundwave casually manhandling several of the auto bots hardest hitters at once. Not to mention his main job is to verbally run circles around his opponents, if not straight up mind control them. Imo, if soundwave ever really wanted to win this war he probably would have done it by now.
