TRANSFORMERS: THE BASICS on the MAYHEM ATTACK SQUAD 

The W of the Wreckers and the M of Mayhem being opposites of each other is such a nice touch

It’s kinda crazy when you realize that, in 40 years of the Transformers brand, the Wreckers have appeared several times on shows and movies but not the Mayhem Attack Squad In fact, I think that it’s even more possible that the DJD will debut on screen first!

Wow. So the Decepticons did have their version of the Wreckers. I do wish Octopunch be in the TF Legacy Line someday.

The LSOTW Squadron X/Mayhem Attack Squad is what you get when you let nerds who grew up on Marvel UK TF comics write official Transformers comics, and i love it for that.

The Mayhem Attack Squad has surpassed the Wreckers in doom and destruction, but the Wreckers have surpassed the Mayhems in popularity with Transformers fandom!

You know what's funny? Between the Star Seekers/Raiders and (the) Mayhem (Attack Squad), only one character can claim membership in both. That being, Axer.

I was hoping the Decepticon Heavy Brigade from Animated might get a mention, since it fits the role of "Elite Decepticon commando team that serves as a counterpart to the Wreckers". And I nominate Animated Blackout.

The Mayhem Attack Squad have been some of my fave Transformers for decades. I have Bludgeon, Stranglehold and Octopunch tattooed on my right arm.

With how much Turantulus gets mentioned, it’s a surprise he doesn’t have his own basics episode yet

Just as it is with Impactor and the Wreckers themselves, it still amazes me that concepts like the Mayhem Attack Squad, that were first created for TFUK back in the mid-to-late 80's, still have a fair degree of cultural cachet with newer Transformers fans, nearly 40 years later. Gives a me a warm tingly feeling, knowing that the legacy lives on.

Really hope Stranglehold, Octopunch, Snarler, Carnivac and Catilla all eventually get new figures in the future. Must be difficult to find molds that can fit both their pretender shells and their inner robot modes.

Loved learning about this group! As for who I think would be an interesting member of the team, maybe let one of the lesser-known Seekers like Acid Storm or one of the other Rainmakers join up.

I wish the Wreckers recruit Dinobot Paddles. Paddles need attention and can have a major rivalry with Octopunch for leader of the sea.

Pretty good lesson on Decepticon version of Wreckers. So Mayhem's insignia in rebooted TF IDW was combination of Mayhem leaders. Will look forward to see Octopunch and Submarauder as well as Stronghold been added in Mayhem collection.

Personal canon: The Mayhem Attack Squad, often simply known as just “Mayhem”, began as Decepticon Platoon 89F led by sadistic warrior Bludgeon. Their membership included cyber-ninja Barrage, quintipartite saboteur Chop Shop, roaming gun for hire and Lockdown fangirl Axlegrease, vain medic Knock-Out, anxious bruiser Breakdown, trigger-happy idiot Spinister, noble savage Carnivac, pyromaniac Smolder, and aquatic terror Octopunch. They primarily fight against the Autobot Injustice Division, a band of morally bankrupt Autobots assembled by Strika and Obsidian to take down threats the Autobots couldn’t normally deal with without getting their hands dirty.

So weird how several of the mayhem squad in G1 looks like they were He-man rejected characters that were recycled for transformers

This might be weird but I’ve got in the habit of using your voice in my head when I read my college textbooks and it’s made the information so much easier to grasp and retain. I’m just glad the Transformers universe is so vast that you’ll have content to cover forever.

Cyclonus from Armada would be a fun return of that Decepticon character. In fact, pair him with that Demolisher and you got yourself a great duo.

I've only been able to read a few of the UK story arcs (Target 2006, Fallen Angel, Legacy of Unicron) so I'm probably biased when I say I've enjoyed Carnivac's Mayhem of IDW the most of their different incarnations. But these new toys are welcome collection gap fillers, the Deluxe Insecticons haven't really been remade since the original figures when you exclude a couple of small Chop Shops from Shrapnels (supposedly a Venom is in the works for next year). I love the "Stormbringer" stylings on the new Bludgeon and it's cool to get other obscure characters like Ruckus and Windsweeper. Hopefully they can get to Carnivac, Octopunch, and some of the other mainstays of Mayhem.

I'm just happy to finally have a new windsweeper thanks to this team!

interesting to me that bulkhead has basically become a guarateed wrecker member at this point, and that his biggest rival from prime, breakdown, is now on an actual rival team *to* the wreckers. Was probably one of the reasons he was added to it.

I had forgotten that the Squad were a UK only thing, obvious really as they were the Con's reaction to the Wreckers. Some great artwork there that took me back to the best days. Galvs and Megs teaming up.

Been waiting for this one, I do hope we get more members in the toy line along with the possibility of something animation wise be that a cartoon or movie where we can see the Wreckers and Mayhem fight it out

Cheers to another awesome video! (Watched this morning but had to go to work so couldn’t comment lol) Knowing what I know now from this episode of The Basics, I think Carnivac (sorry if I butchered the spelling) might very well be my new favorite character on the Decepticons’ side of things.

I'm currently working working on making my own incarnations of both the Wreckers and Mayhem from currently existing figures who where listed to be part of these teams. My Wreckers: (So far,) Ultra Magnus - Unit Commander Springer - Bravo Team Leader Bulkhead Sandstorm Broadside Roadbuster Whirl Leadfoot My Mayhem: (So far,) Breakdown Barrage Chopshop Windsweeper Bludgeon(Pre-ordered) Rukus(Pre-ordered) Now we just need Toyhax to make the Mayhem insignia decal just like they did for the Wreckers with the three levels of damage: clean, light, and heavy.

Ok hear me out. A while ago, I grabbed some of my Transformers figures and put them into a team I called Fireteam Kaon; I depicted them as the team the Decepticons would dispatch for any really dangerous operation. After watching this, I realized, "Oh snap, I made the Mayhem Attack Squad but with different members."

And there was I, expecting a M.A.S.K. reference.

Im wrecking my head for this, i feel like if we're only counting cons maybe throw in all the pretenders in there, as well as the crossformers from victory. Maybe also add the 88 small headmasters, with a running gag about fangry arguing with whoever's in high command at the time.

I drew a Mayhem symbol a few years ago for the hell of it, it was orange too to be the opposite of the Wreckers, but man that official symbol is way cooler.

Ever since watching the Basics on the Wreckers, Springer, Tidal Wave, Bludgeon, and Spinister, I have been curious about Mayhem. I certainly appreciate the enlightenment. If I were to add more, I'd fill Mayhem with more of the Pretenders like Iguanus and Bugly, the Decepticon Headmasters Mindwipe and Skullcruncher, deluxe Insecticon Ransack, Decepticon Targetmasters Triggerhappy and Quake, the Stunticons, Flamewar, Shadow Striker, Thrust, the Battlechargers, Airachnid, Slipstream, and RID Steeljaw.

i would love if they made transformers spin off movies in live action with the djd or mayhem

Hmm, another informative episode.

I went through some of my birthday pictures and found out I had Bludgeon when I was a toddler. I didn't know this and this was years and years before I got into Transformers. Also my parents got Scorponok from a garage sale(without the proper headmaster). It's weird I had toys of two major Decepticon leaders and I didn't know it at the time. Looking back after getting into Transformers, I wish my parents did get rid of them.

I had Bludgeon as a kid and I wish he'd get a chance to lead the Decepticons. He's got an strict samurai code and has no problems committing atrocities. Octopunch could be his XO as a crazy pirate.

I love it, he rebelled, had his friend die and then KILLED the people who killed his friend. bludgeon really sucks/

The mayhem characters over the last few years has made me want to go back and collect wreckers now as well. As for new members,Why not these characters? Any Strika (Cybertron) Thunderblast (Animated) Lugnutt (Armada) Demolishor Cyclonus (Bayverse) Blackout Brawl Bonecrusher (G1) Horri bull Bonzai tron Monstructor Or any deception is fine

As far as I see, you have only made videos about Spinister and Bludgeon so far. Sounds to me like some other Mayhems have made enough appearances for at least obscure character videos, like Octopunch, Needlenose, Carnivac, Chopshop, Ruckus, etc.
