That makes so much sense I can't believe I never made the comparison before. The majority of times incompetence, the humor in many of their deaths, and the brief moments of sapience that some show.

I was wondering whether the 'watchdogs' in The Ultimate Doom are primeval Vehicons, but we never see them transform. Also, TFWiki suggests that they could be native alt-modes for the likes of Reflector...

Obsidian just needs to appear again outside of comics, period. Strika got to be in both Animated and Cyberverse.

@@noddy1973 The Decepticlones are the enemies you fight off in the Transformers Armada PS2 game.

@@noddy1973 re using background character models is somewhat common in FPS games. So it's up in the air if the Cybertron games grunts are supposed to be clones in cannon. OR if it's limitations of the time and money necessary, to make individual bots that makes them so similar

Man I love that game. The Heavy Unit and Spiders terrified me as a kid but I loved it.

I'm pretty sure that Jetstorm was on the designers mind for Cybertron Snarl too, he himself is based on Beast Wars Silverbolt but the chest colour makes it look like the Vehicon face

Didn't also some named Decepticons kill some additional vehicons because they're terrible bosses?

@@clownplayer7265 The only named Decepticons we’ve actually seen kill the vehicons were Starscream and Megatron, and Starscream only killed the vehicons to escape capture when he went rogue. Breakdown actually respected the vehicons and in an episode (I forgot which one) Breakdown regularly talked with them.

In the original toyline at retail, the Autobots outnumbered the Decepticons (22 Autobots against 7 Decepticons). So the Seekers were a way to pad out the Decepticon army (along with a few Reflectors, although the toy wasn't available until it became available as a mail away, two years later).

In the G1 episode War Dawn I’m pretty sure Megatron has a squad of identical soldiers, so maybe that’s where the idea came from

They're actual name is the prototypes. But they're literally the vehicons in concept

I’ve always knowing Unnamed Vehicon Drone as Gary instead of Steve. I thought everyone called him Gary until I learned about the Steve running joke on the wiki

Oh sure, if I was doing a video specifically about "mass-produced guys" ("The Basics on Army-Builders" maybe?) they'd definitely be in there. There's tons of other examples not touched on in this video.

@@ChrisMcFeely I have to disagree, G1 sweeps were mainly individual reformatted decepticons and the times we see them are in pairs of 4 or even 7 at times. Dreamwave comics did made them a mass produced army builder unit but outside of most Transformers material the Sweeps aren’t a army unit. Okay apparently Tfwiki also states that other media has the Sweeps as army building units in IDW, Legends material comics as well

@@ChrisMcFeely The video is about Vehicons after all. I just had to think directly of the sweeps when describing it. You never see a lot of them, but as often as things die, there must be quite a few of them.

Never would’ve thought of adding the Sweeps into all the armies mentioned in this video!

@@metal_fusion The ability to duplicate themselves carried over for the Insecticons when they became Sweeps. That's why there are more than just two or three of them.

@@novustalks7525 I said sort of married because Beast Machines refers to Obsidian and Strika being "Consorts" which is a fancy word for being the romantic partner or spouse of someone.

It's to give the good guys an underdog approach. And how better to do that than to give the bad guys a huge army. And easiest way to fill an army is with clones or generic bad guys.

@@ThyBigCheddar The underdog theme only goes so far. It could work once, maybe twice, but not week after week after week after week. It doesn't make sense Let me put it this way It's the apocalypse and everyone that you know has turned into a zombie, You hold up in some kind of fortress like place with ammo, guns, supplies, maybe some people with you You manage, over time, to kill off every zombie in the area, let's say, 10 miles for arguments sake Does it make sense that MORE zombies randomly appear and in greater numbers then all of those zombies you JUST killed off in a short amount of time like they do in the Resident Evil or Walking Dead franchises? Like they're magnetically drawn to you Or, let's put it another way Transformers Now some of the series make it a point that Megatron has a factory to produce vehicons on an automated basis like in Beast Machines, but other series, like the Prime series don't have factory pumping out endless numbers of disposable canon fodder Cobra from GI Joe has an endless number of trained mercenaries to draw on, where do they come from and why are they so readily available These franchises make no sense The Nazis had about 10 million soldiers during the war, both native born and those recruited from other countries but once a group of them were wiped out, more didn't spring out of the ground like dragon's teeth (ancient Greek myth from the Jason and the Argonauts myth), so why do movie and tv armies do that?

@@dragonweyr44 What? In Prime they make a point of how the Decepticon forces are thinning. By the final episode the only reason the Autobots win is because the Decepticons lost over half their troops through the terracon outbreak and Arachnid. Also why are you bringing up stuff like the nazis having 10 million soldiers? To a group of 5 people, that probably looks infinite. Your argument seems to be based on shoddy memory and you just wanting to be angry at flaws that aren't even there.

@@ThyBigCheddar Thinning, in the final episodes What about the dozens of episodes before that? Was there any complaint about how they keep losing soldiers? Megatron throws two off his ship, one turns into a plane and flies away, the other turns into a car and smashes on the ground. No one says anything about how he potentially kills 2 of his own and definitely killed 1
