Perhaps a late reply, but it's in reference to the purple and blue color schemes those two have. They're being compared to the Twilight Sparkle/Mordecai Airplanes meme.
@rosepuppy1984 It's maybe for the best that you don't see the original meme format. It won't make or break your understanding of internet culture to not know the meme, but the basic rundown is that someone jokingly created a pairing between Twilight Sparkle from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and Mordecai from Regular Show, and set the video introducing the concept to the song Airplanes. That video later became a widespread meme format because of the absurdity of the pairing.
