Since there were no english subbed versions available here of this lost classic, I thought I would put one up. Features the best animation in the series since the 1986 film.
You gotta respect the Autobot Micromasters for facing the Decepticon gestalts and not running away. Bearings the size of Primus on Countdown and the gang.
Remember Micromasters fight against thumderwing in his base butt they dont hade any chence against him and thats how decepticons got the technology for making they own micromasters by dececting them in marvel comics
So did anyone notice that Dai Atlas basically defeated Predaking by cutting him in half FROM BEHIND? Predaking was fleeing and Dai Atlas attacked him from the back... there is no honor in that sir! :) And wouldn't it just be Razoeclaw who died (he would be the only one cut in half)? The other 4 Predacons would have survived... severally traumatized and maybe brain damaged but they wouldn't have taken any physical damage, right? Oh, and one more thing... those capes survived the entire battle and didn't take any damage at all! Why aren't they just making armor out of those capes, they are indestructible!!! In all seriousness, I dig the crazy styles (capes) and different characters of these Japanese shows and wish some of these stories had been continued, but I don't like how so many shows nerf some great characters (Trypticon, Predaking) just because the plot needs it. It's been a complaint I've had with Transformers from the beginning, that the "bad guys" never get to shine and show off their cool abilities because the script needs them to always lose. Some of the comics have really handled this well and I wish some of the shows would take their approach. Anyway, enough rambling... thanks for posting this!
I always found it oddly hilarious that at 12:20 the kid catches a butterfly just as Predaking randomly decides "oh hey, a little human i can squish" One would think its beneath his notice, but hey, the kid was preying on the butterfly so maybe this scene is trying to impart a subtle message that humans are as insignificant as bugs to them, but if that's the case then why did he....oh ive gone cross eyed........
20:28 I like how he(I can't tell if this guy is the Draconon guy or Predaking so it will just be "he") screamed "KURUNAAAAA" As of "Don't come near me!" And got cut. Well you missed that bro, but still, really good sub there!
TF fan since 1984 here, watching this so I can review it for my website. I always liked the Micromasters but hard to get into Transformers not being led by familiar figures. Seemed wrong somehow.
easier to ease into it properly - start with G1, skip the rebirth though, then watch TF Headmasters, then Super God Masterforce, Then Victory, then this :P
zeitxgeist It's not really that bizarre, it does make sense. Japan just replaced the Nebulons with Earthling humans, though what was unexpected was the human actually becoming the sentience of the robots. Though that was something carried over from Headmasters were the smaller Transformers from Seibatron were also the sentience for the larger mecha.,
Didn't anyone notice the homosexual love at 13:59? Either Akira is secretly a girl or they're just gay. Since this series was axed I guess I'll never find out.
If you look at the manga pages, and literally all the posters and scenes where Akira is present(Which is barely any, feelsbadman) You kinda see that Japan did the "Draw a girl and call her a boy" thing XD I mean, considering in the manga and this, how Akira and Cain does show that they have relationship that is "something more than just friends" Yeah, he is probably actually secretly a girl, or atleast you can interpret him as one. Or he just naturally really gay, who knows, there are people on this world that is naturally "homosexual", that being one produces the wrong type of hormone(This can happen to a boy or a girl, which causes them to be... well.. interesting characters... and more or less homosexual), and Akira might as well be one of them. Also keep in mind that Cain is not human either and he probably doesn't exactly have the same moral on homosexuality XD Another thing is, Akira never said, at least not here, what his gender was, so Cain probably actually thinks that Akira is a girl anyway XD And considering how it is, they probably also could have just miss placed "boy" instead of "girl" when they are making his data files XP Which is like, only found in one work anyway... But Akira does use the "male introduction" saying "boku" which is normally only used by man, but that said, that might also just be a side effect from the missprinting earlier. So we will never know! Well one day maybe if we manage to get into that universe. I don't want to face the 9 demon generals and Violen Jinger tho :P
Transformers wasn't making much money at that point. So Takara ended production on further animated Transformers cartoons. Instead they opted for their similar Brave (Yuusha) series instead.
If not, there will be more episodes. The idea of transforming bases is pretty cool, but except Dai Atlas and Sonic Bomber, all main chracter transformers here with new appearances are creepy-looking. And, it is just commercial to let Victory Saber not escape, as even just Star Saber should be able to escape that explosion theoretically, as he did once before.
This is the series where the TF designs got a little *too* Japanese, outside of the micromasters imo; still, would've been great if there were more to this to see how it would've panned out. Glad Holi is finally the right colour too - him being wrong all through Victory was irritating.
Trypticon, Devastator, and Predaking all look way different in Zone. Scorponok's design changed the most during Masterforce. I think this reflects how Takara wanted to differentiate their vision of the Transformers line.
Crap. The Combiners are totally unrecognizable. Trypticon looks like a cheap imitation of Godzilla and for God's sake... since when Transformers, especially the old ones, have organic brains in their heads?
Had all those micromaster bases and the micromasters as a kid - how awesome to see them in a cartoon! =D. Had the space shuttle, fire station, and garage all interconnected like that on my bedroom floor as a kid...and I had Menasor too, ^_^.
chris edwards yes no story on how they died but there's the story of them being brought back by that being that also brought back Megatron from the ice when he was still Galvatron and then made him into a giant Megatron.
Honest Review about Transformers Zone OVA. I believe I found out about it on TFwiki.net. I liked this first ova but I don't think this could support an entire show. Mabey just 4 pilot episodes. The cameos of G1 Decepticons were nice like Devastator, Tripticon, Menasor, and Predaking. I found the humans kind of annoying and if they know everything about "CYBERTRONS" which they don't.
Autobot leaders: optimus prime hot rod fortress maximus god ginra star sbar dai atlas Decepticon leaders: Megatron Galvatron scorpinok devil z overload deathasuras
Umm, Rodimus prime is hot rod, but hot rod isn't Rodimus prime, so thats a thing, it is just like you can say Optimus prime is Orionpax, but Optimus prime is so much more than Orionpax, so you can't say Orionpax is Optimus prime. God Ginrai, that i in the end does stuff. Star saber should also get corrected. Either one say Devil Z is the leader, or Overlord is the leader, you kinda can't say both. Also, even with that, Devil Z eventually does take form of Black Zarak, having the name too. Also i think Alpha trio also wants to be in the list, since he was once the autobot leader. Though i don't remember the other leaders before Optimus prime. Between Megatron and Galvatron, I think it is suitable to place Starscream just for the sake of it. In the animated series, Ultra Magnus got to be the leader of autobots actually, this also happened in the G1 movie too, eventhough he kinda failed miserably in the movie.
Back in the day, in Japan, Cybertron was Seibetron, the Autobots were the Cybertrons and the Decepticons where the Destrons. Don't ask me why, heck instead of Prime the used Convoy, Optimus was Big Convoy I think
Sol Zen Thanks for confirming this. Its awsome to get feedback from someone who experienced them in Japan. The Transformers were a big part my growing up in the USA and was lucky to find a video of this at a local bookoff. I had always read about Zone and other import only series/titles on the web way before even getting to see them. Zone is pretty awsome imo. I love that the "Grimlock" looking General has the same type of performance as the american voice actor who first did "Grimlock" on the 80s show and 86 film. I mean it sounds just like the guy if he was performing it in Japanese. Crazy!
Sol Zen The first Optimus Prime toy was originally a Japanese toy called Battle Convoy. Takara figured that the average Japanese kid would have a hard time remembering "Oputimasu Puraimu", so they called him Convoy instead.
+PutYaGunsOn Optimus Prime didn't exist, Transformers didn't exist. Takara named him Convoy way before Hasbro ever attempted to license and repackage the toys for the West. It was Denny O'Neil at Marvel who came up with the name Optimus Prime, before bringing Bob Budiansky in to name and profile the rest, echoing Hasbro and Marvel's early partnership on GI Joe with Larry Hama.
Im looking for a mecha anime where there are groups of guys and there is one with long blonde hair and one with dark hair, the dark hair ones robot is red.....
we seen all transformers g1 and here we all are the final chapter of g1 trasformers but... I wish we have more episodes so that the final chapter could end.
The story of Zone continued as story pages in Japan's TV Magazine. Transformers was not making enough profit for Takara to continue funding for an animated adaptation. Instead they opted to produce anime based on the similar Brave (Yuusha) line of toys.
Also, the Yusha series is entirely Japanese, they to didn't have to share the profits and (more importantly) the decision making about the anime and the toys with the Americans.
I couldn't even watch the whole thing. "Crappy" is putting it nicely. They made these characters goofy and annoying! The plot was stupid and the battle scenes were retarded. No wonder sales for it bombed and the show was immediately canned. I don't even acknowledge this as G1. That ended when Sunbow did.
