Towel Rack can better air the wet towel, as they allow the towel to spread out. Yes agreed that 1 towel rack is not enough, it can be at least 2 for this small bathroom

I feel like everything in this makeover could work for a man's bathroom (assuming you're referring to it being more typical masculine and less pink/floral). To me, only a few things in here could be switched out to achieve that, like a different shower curtain, a different hook that isn't floral, and a bath mat that's maybe less feminine. All in all, I feel like the tips in here are universal as far as mini bathroom makeovers go!

I love the idea of redoing a man's space. I agree that a lot of Gator's ideas are pretty gender fluid but there is something fun about focusing on the masculine. Great suggestions!

Y’all... don’t hate me.. but this is my least favourite makeover I’ve seen you do.. plants INSIDE the shower.. the tassels were just no.. towel tack is unsightly but hooks are better?.. hooks will just make them stay wet A LOT LONGER! and a plant right next to the radiator? I usually love your stuff.. feels like it was a last second idea.. sorry

Carolina Gold I agree with most parts, except plants in the shower. I have 100+ plants in my condo an I’d kill for enough natural light to keep in the shower. They thrive on the humidity and excess water won’t drip all over your nice surfaces.

I sometimes get a spider or two in my bathroom tub area and I have no plants in the bathroom. I know spiders have a purpose but not in our bathrooms!

I hate to dry myself with a dampish towel! For those of us who live in more humid places, towel hooks are not that practical, as it takes so long for the towels to dry, and racks are more practical.

BUUUT, in Canada winters, the coils are usually just under the towels in this type of bathroom so they dry fast and they are always warm ✌️

I’d go to a stone yard a pick up a marble remnant for the ledge and refresh the grout since it’s not ending with bullnose tile or Schluter cap. Maybe the big boxes have plastic schluter that is easy to cut. It’s that higher-end finishing touch that won’t make it look like a rental.

Ooh! I have loads of plants in my tiny rental bathroom thanks to Ikea Tisken range! With this much light and this much tile (like in this video), one can go wild! I have small ferns and ivy in the Tisken toothbrush holders high up on the wall and I have another larger fern and some Basil in their own pots in the rectangle Tisken basket. They stick to tile like glue and have drainage holes in the bottom (I used lots of Odla clay balls to hold moisture). I just hold a towel underneath when I water them and they work really well!

Those apartment closet/alcove laundry rooms: How does one make those spaces not only functional but fun? Also, I was going to say that the curtain rings could have any sort of dangles you want, not just tassels. Bead strings or key chains would be good or ornaments. Like a lot of those character ornaments that are not that Christmasy would look good hanging from a shower rod. My husband laughs at me over this stuff, but I want my bathroom to feel like a party. I like LED light strips and music too. When I was little my siblings and I used to put up glow in the dark stickers ( bathroom didn’t have a window) and shower in the dark. I like that same feeling today. Plus it’s really energizing before work. With the right type of lighting you can also create a relaxing or romantic mood.

I think you can buy the lights that are made for helping plants to grow. Just put those in place of your regular bulbs and see if that helps. You could also place the plants outside every other day and bring them back into your bathroom on the opposite days (during the nice weather, at least).

Hi Sophie! I was having the same issue! In our rental (1 bed, 1 bath), I converted the coat closet into a dog crate heaven haha. Meaning his crate is in there with blankets and toys. And I have an area rug under our coffee station, and his bowls go there. He seems to love it!

Kinda wanted to see her leaning into the chrome rather than kinda half-assedly adding gold accents to her 800th room. I feel like she could have easily worked with the cool tones and chrome since there was so much of it, rather than trying to fight it and not really have it go super well. Also would have just been a more interesting watch than being told tips that we already know if we watch her videos.

Mirrors are neutral and add light to a space. You could add a mirror the length of the hall or close to it. You can also include a nice long runner, maybe a few plants, and...a shoe rack that doubles as a bench or something nice... I wish I had a long hall in my house.

Brittany Price we do have to remember that she designs spaces for actual people, and if those people like this style (and I’m assuming they do cause that’s why they hire her) then she should stick to the client’s vision :)

I would add a mirror or other neutral art piece. Mirrors also add more light to a room so that would help brighten a hall. I also suggested in another comment about hallways that a long runner could look nice there, and maybe a shoe rack/bench, or a thinner style writing desk.

I was thinking about humidity all through this presentation. Those lovely tassels would be a mess in a few months and I know it cannot be used easily in a rental space but a glass shower half door prevents all those damp areas

My favorite shower hooks are double-sided. It makes it easy to swap curtains and liners on the fly. I would actually touch a plant, scream, and knock it down. Laughing at myself.

i wish you could just refill the reusable bottle at the store.. just bring your own and fill it up without even using plastic and pay for shampo per liter or something like that. maybe someday. i guess ill stick to shampoo in a bar.

Usually health or whole foods stores offer those services. Even calling your local health store and asking where if they know of any places that offer it might do the trick.

I live in the U.S. I have hardly ever seen rentals with such beautiful basics as you have in Canada. Hardwood floors, nice windows & doors& cabinetry. Canada looks like a much better place to rent.

If I'm going to spend 56 dollars on a shower curtain it had better be long enough just to skimm the floors. Nothing i hate more then it being only 72 inches long. Such a putty. Yourscould of used another 9 inches

It turned out great. I'm Googling shower curtains now - there are so many & they really change the whole feel of a bathroom. Mine is white tiles too, and really needs some colour to warm it. Loved the rug too, it looks so soft and deep.

I love hooks but dampness against a wall or door isn't the best for the paint or wood. I do use them for robes. I like to use a bit of silicone caulk when I drill into sheetrock in the bathroom to keep out dampness. The plants added SO MUCH to the makeover! I'm so happy to hear you're now doing virtual makeovers!! Congratulations!

$150 to make over HALF a small bathroom. What about the cabinet, the sink, a hand towel, storage organizing, adding cutesy knobs/a new faucet, etc. A single bathtub doesn’t need three plants. They don’t add any practical value and on 4 square meters you need practical value not plants, come on, what’s with all the plants everywhere these days? Plants are great for a bedroom or a living room but who wants or needs a plant on the bathtub? And what’s anybody ever going to do with a bar of soap on the edge of the tub? Wash? I thought that’s what the shower gel apothecary dispenser is for. This is all very very pretty but there’s literally no practical thought in it beyond piling up visually pretty items.

SMG I didn’t say anybody has to care what I think, and I explicitly spelled out that the result was very pretty. The plants are pretty too, l love plants. I don’t think they belong in the bathroom but that’s not the point I was making. My point was and is that a $150 dollar budget spent mostly on plants and a shower curtain while half the bathroom remained untouched (this is a fact, not my opinion, we saw it in the video) and needs love and care, is not a budget well spent. I did read it’s rental and especially because it’s a rental and the resident can’t throw out the cabinet or get a new sink, tricks and small additions to increase counter space, storage or better accessibility are more important than purely decorative though admittedly beautiful changes. For instance, in terms of the towel rack, the after version is far less functional than the original one, albeit more instagramable. This is not negativity, it’s criticism.

Hard no to the glass bottles in the shower. Even if you have space for them, if you drop them in the shower that’s a disaster. How many of us have dropped bottles of shampoo, body wash or conditioner in the shower? I’ve lost count. Glad you included a safer option because the idea of broken glass in a shower while I’m barefoot is just terrifying.

Since there are slight hues of purple/violet, maybe this one: Tradescantia pallida purpurea / Purple Heart The less sun they get the less purple they become.

I would have personally installed at least two hooks, since you used it for the brush thing and the towel, which is a bit unhandy. Moreover, as a women I need one body towel and one hair towel anyway, so I would already need two hooks for that reason

I love adding plants to any space. It gives it so much warmth and comfort. Maybe a small laundry room, the landing at the top of the steps, a reading nook in the corner of a living room. Ohhhh lately I’ve been looking up videos on styling kitchen counters. For me it would be Scandinavian, minimalistic, boho all mixed into one. ~Wireback Candle Co.

This apartment bathroom is TWICE the size of the bathroom in my house. But I must know - why does everyone use the same unattractive plants in their home decor? I cannot tell you how many times I see the "mother-in-law's tongue." Please, there's gotta be something better out there.

Probably used a lot since it can withstand a ton of different environments including minimal light/ventilation in a bathroom. But youre right, it’s not always the right decor choice and is overused like just a convenient option

I noticed she doesn't really think about that stuff. My bf almost had a heart attack watching her stuff a router and wires into basket once, because thats not fire hazard... At least it looked cute before it went up in flames.

SMG actually I have a degree in fashion and interior design. Practicality should always be factored in to decorating. Otherwise you’re client is going to dealing with the mistakes made.

The first thing you did, with the bottles, you covered the glass "issue" nicely. I can't put glass in my shower. However, I did, about a year ago, bought a few bottles from Dollar Tree. I filled one of the clear ones with my mouthwash! (It came with a cork, and it's one with "pressed glass". Awesome!

Glass bottles on tile? Shattered glass in the shower. Plants in the shower? Showers cause dirt in plants to splatter. Taking down a large towel rack for a hook? Towels stay wet on hooks.

I'm confused how a towel rod is unsightly but a hook isn't? It's literally the same thing? Also, how does a towel dry on a hook when it's all bunched and folded up? It just isn't practical. I have a towel rod and its not enough. All my towels go over the shower curtain rod until completely dry. I open my in-shower window to help them air out.

I am very big on having adequate drying options that look good, too. In my last bathroom, in order to have enough hanging space, I had one towel bar (i.e. rod) above the toilet (well out of splash zone) and two on the back of the door. Then I had 3M bars stuck to the tile in the show for wash cloths. The towels look great if they match and are hung neatly. The wash cloths never look good after they're wet, but they are behind the shower curtain.

I absolutely agree. Towel rods work so much better than towel hooks for airing and drying towels - especially longer rods (around 60 cm or longer). The bathroom in this video doesn't seem like it is lacking wall space for a towel rod, so I don't really see why replace it with several towel hooks and lose such an important functionality..

@SMG never heard that. I put them over my shower curtain rod and open the window that's in my shower since I live in a historic home and have no fan. Never has an issue with them being unsanitary. What about them drying in the bathroom makes them unsanitary? Do you have a link?

I don’t understand how decanting shower products into glass jars is environmentally friendly. When used up, you still have to buy more plastic filled products as most companies don’t refill your bottles.

Nastya Zaharyuk that’s why I said “most”, not none. Also, what if that refill option doesn’t apply to my brands? I’ve personally never seen this before in my neck of the woods, in any of the stores where I go for shower products.

True. Glass is worse than plastic too, because it never really breaks down. Mini makeover - nightstands! I think it would be fair to say not everyone has or can afford matching nightstands on either side of the bed. How can you style your bedside with just one nightstand? What to put on it, how to balance the other side of the bed, etc.

The bathroom looks much better. A little over the top to say a towel bar is "unsightly"! Rubber backed mats are nice for their no slip character but they fall apart in the washer and dryer. The plants bring the room alive. Kind of sloppy with the stickers on the bottles, n'est pas? Odd areas for future videos are the end wall of a hall, real cellars with lower ceilings, stone foundations, entry that has a stair way and a triangular section of wall downstairs and the sloping wall up- (non gallery wall options, please).

Agreed regarding the rubber-backed mats. What I find helps to avoid that though is to hand wash (or use the hand wash/delicate setting in the washer) and then air dry instead of subjecting the mats to the heat in the dryer.

I'm with her on the standard towel rail. No one notices what it looks like under a towel anyway, but it's the placement. I have one stuck on the wall in the only place where I could put a stool. Means no one can sit back comfortably. I'm grateful to Alexandra for showing that they can be taken off the wall.

We use a IKEA CD shelf in our small bathroom. Maybe something to concider because it is so slim. It is open, but I use some boxes small stuff and the rest is also sortet.

They have over the comode cabinets, some that have a stand so you don't even have to drill into the wall. If you can though floating cabinets or shelves. they have pull out & stackable shelves for under your sink. I use mesh pocket organizers in my shower for my shower supplies. I've also seen ppl use over the door shoe organizers to hold bath products.

I have an awkward half bath laundry room with a small window. It also has my heating system, so I can't move walls, but it's always dusty, full of cobwebs, and just altogether awkward. I tried putting in a screen to cover the heating system so it's not visible. Help!

Love this makeover. Great affordable suggestions. However, I wish you would have other alternatives for towel rods versus hooks. Hooks don't allow your towels to dry out properly and then they smell.
