Thank you for this video. I was planning to do my garden with gravel too but hesitated because I thought I would need professional help which would be too expensive. I have informed my family that we now have a group project😊 Congrats on your beautiful garden❤
That is so good to hear! 💚 That’s why I made the video, because I had a lot of questions, but couldn’t find answers in one place and I was also worried about the labor. But with the help of your family, you should be able to get it done fairly easily. Good luck!
For anyone considering using gravel in their garden, I would suggest just making sure that there are no trees in the immediate vicinity which might drop leaves, blossoms, seeds, etc on top of the gravel. I learned this the hard way - it’s very difficult to remove such litter, particularly from small gravel. Eventually, what’s not cleaned up decomposes and forms an ever-increasing mulch layer on top of the landscape fabric, which then enables weeds to germinate (the very thing the fabric is meant to eliminate). On the other hand, if there is no potential litter problem, then this solution is a great way to go, and looks fantastic.
This is exactly what I needed as a guide for my small raised bed garden. Your garden area looks awesome! Thank you for this detailed video and for sharing how to make this a family project.🥰
Happy Tuesday Alnissa from my channel to ypurs!! New Sub here!! I love the remake of your garden, I am in the process of doing a remake as well!! Everything looks amazing!! Can't wait to check out more of your videos!!
Beautiful! I have a lot of projects for this year again. I’ve been contemplating rocks. It looks so neat and tidy. Bravo to the family for helping mommy’s dreams come true!!! 🎉🎉 Enjoy your beautiful space. Looking forward to seeing more ice your videos.
Absolutely lovely - well done! I'm in the UK and trying to manage tricky grass on clay soil, with waterlogging in places at times - I'm considering gravel for a seating area, so your video is timely - your daughter is a super little helper - thanks 😀❤
Thank you and thanks so much for watching! 💚 I am happy to hear the video was helpful. The gravel has been great in solving my own waterlogging issues. Best of luck with your seating area! 🤗
I have gravel in my garden and I love it because it looks tidy and organised. I also have raised bed and my kids are growing vegetables and I have some with flowers. Good job x
Thank you for this video! I am currently working on creating my first garden. I’m almost ready to lay down fabric. I definitely wanted gravel pathways but was overthinking it in regard to install. This video helped me realize I can do it 😄. And the tip about rounded pea gravel is very helpful. Your garden is beautiful!
Looks great... good job! I think the heavier landscape fabric is an important investment. I have tried various things including mulch and brick... however my grass has taken over!
Have you tried adding seating on the gravel? Is it sturdy enough? Considering this option, but want to make sure I can add my outdoor sofa! Looks great! Nice job!
So I haven’t added much seating other than my garden kneeler. I’d say you can move the gravel and place the sofa legs/feet on the ground then nestle the gravel around it. Kind of like I did the pavers. That’s what I did with a few planters to make sure they were nice and level
I’m concerned for your drainage! The engineered fabric you used is woven and will not allow moisture to permeate it. Yes, it’s exponentially more durable, but it’s intended for retention of soils and to drive water downward in a vertical application. Please post an update once you’ve had a winter season or some rain, because I’m very curious to know if it causes you any issues. Looks great!
Hi new here, your garden looks nice Glad I found you. What zone are you so I know as you plant, thanks. I had the larger gravel n it hurt even with shoes on. What u got is a better choice 👍
I’m in zone 8a. We have a few more 30° days coming up so I haven’t planted out my warm weather crops yet. But plan to do so in the next week… As long as the temperatures stay above 55/60.
Do you think the gravel will move too much with not digging at least 3 inches deep and leveling the ground? I would love it to be this easy but I keep seeing about digging the whole area 3-5 inches deep then laying the fabric and whatever else
I saw that too. I guess it would make it more level, but I haven’t had any noticeable issues not having leveled it. I feel any dips can be filled with additional gravel to even it out. But it’s a personal choice. I didn’t want to go through that much work
