Your dedication to this build is remarkable ... and equal parts nuts and admirable. At this point you're way past "in for a penny, in for a pound" and have to see it through, but I wonder how many times you've asked yourselves "what've we gotten ourselves into?" in the past 3+ years? The world'd be a better place if more people had your strength and perseverance.

Matt, your a true professional. I can't imagine after only 6 months and such a great primer coat, how long the completed project will take? Fantastic job guys, you guys are true craft people, love the new glasses!
@MJSailing
@MJSailing Месяц назад
Part of the reason for the six month process in this, is once we had the wooden template steps up, we could not make new sheets of fiberglass to build portions of the steps and storage until the ambient temperature in the tent was above 65. So there was a three month period where we had to ignore this project before moving forward. 😃

Genuinely impressed with "6 months in 6 minutes" section showing the work you put in! Phenomenal. And it really does look great - owners cabin and helm are very impressive with primer on. That sports car was pretty darned impressive, too. Genuine question - do you have to literally scrub hard in the shower some days to get off the various coatings you must get on you? I mean more than just soap and water - a scouring pad, for example. Maybe I'm particularly attractive to paint and it's relatives.
@MJSailing
@MJSailing Месяц назад
To be honest, each day I go in the shower with a loofah and body soap, and whatever doesn't come off with that just stays on because I'm too tired and too lazy to really do anything about it, haha.

I found on some of my projects putting conduit in even if it doesn't get used later before an area loses access. Just a thought I'm not a boatie.

Excellent! - I am curious if the fiber glassing done? possibly some in the engine area? Now trying to envision the floor material and what I would want it to feel like on bare feet. Then would I want to run it continuously from the outside through the main galley. Not sure I would want natural cork- unless it was a no wax or polish product. toured a old aircraft carrier- liked how the old linoleum felt-- which I think had cork and linseed oil in it- plus then being polished. keep thinking replaceable carpet treads on the stairs- swap them out every few years. possibly were they snap on.

What a waste of time on this build. By the time you ever get it finished you will have wasted 4-6 years of sailing. Nobody is guaranteed tomorrow. Oh, and a self build means no warranty once things don’t work as expected. Every sailor knows new boats always have problems. Foolish…

is great sense of accomplishment when one fashions something great with your own hands. It cant be measured and when she goes out to say you may want to build anouther because it was so much fun.
