I love how they're showing us what comes after the Grand Tour. Way too often, these cars just disappear never to be seen again. Now, we get to follow it on a whole journey!
check for the rust on rear strut towers. Also remove plastic fuel filler neck guard and poke with a screwdriver near where lip meets the body on the inner "outside" side where fuel cap is and the neck comes from. Because of that lip, water can stay there and cause rust. Happened to a few people i know who had GD subarus.
Sg Foresters can suffer from it aswel, not sure about the impreza but theres a nice black plastic surround to protect everything you can get off the internet for foresters that look completely factory standard
I'm glad they're keeping some parts of its Grand Tour vibe (tow bar, Martin Racing on windshield), as it would be a shame to change it completely considering the history. I must admit, my heart broke a little seeing them tear the wrap off, but admittedly it does look much better without it.
The rear badge is WRX on the top. The bar underneath says Impreza. Any Subbie dealer should have them. It will be nice to see it get restored. Thx for the update.
As someone who owns a 2003 blobeye Impreza WRX in the UK just like this, the badge that's missing at 9:50 in the video is just a standard WRX Impreza badge, shouldn't be too difficult to get off Ebay or a wreckers yard. As for the V-Limited sticker, that's a vinyl cutter job. The rust around the wheel arches is exactly the same on my car.
When Mike said there was something in the glove box I thought Clarkson had slipped a tooth whitening kit in there 🙂 BTW I think the tow bar spoils it but it's still a very nice car.
I reckon the tow bar is nice. It's even got a pin hitch! Very handy. And as the young bloke said, it's a bit of insurance in case someone tries to rear-end you. I'd definitely keep it.
The tow hitch is practically useless as well, manual turbo Subarus are not torque-y engines and you'll wreck the drivetrain trying to tow stuff with it
I love so much how the car looks now! The colour, the alloy wheels, the scoop, the spoiler, that's my favorite car ever. Looking forward when it's finished
“If in doubt. Flat Out!” - Colin McRae I’m sorry. But I see one of these. He is the first person too come too mind! He immortalised that car! And that quote is nothing short of genius!
I am SO glad to see the STi back to normal. When I saw on the show what he did to the beautiful machine, I wanted to beat Richard with an old, wet mop. Now, I can reserve that for what James did to that beautiful (was) EVO.
Will admit I love the WRX STI Impreza, boys this is much better video compared to the prior ones. Love the car and no part 20% dedicated to a sponsor. Doing well 👍
Zen graphics stock all the decals for the v limited, there should be some on the doors as well, also it’s missing the front splitter that was originally fitted to the v limited model
My 2c: - Should use the towbar for a removable drag parachute mount ;) - Look for a set of the OEM BBS wheels for the new tires! - I am praying you guys work with Subi Performance in Germany for the engine, that's about all they do!
Yes guys!! Been patiently waiting for this car to get the love it deserves! Great job gents, will be keeping an eye out for episodes on it for sure 👍🏻👍🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I hope they do a proper but sympathetic restoration/recommissioning on this. I’ve watched a few of their videos where they spend a lot of time on window dressing (MG ZT-T wheel refurbishment without taking the tyres off?). & the dreaded “machine polish” was mentioned. Looking at the paint, it needed more than a bit of T-Cut. But nice to see a Scooby being given a new lease of life.
I didn't think it would be that satisfying to see a wrap being removed, but I was wrong! Also I think it looks so much better without the wrap, but like others have said, the towbar needs to go.
Wallpaper steamer is the best tool for removing vinyl rap ! It’s how I do it . Heat guns can damage paint if your not careful especially on plastic bumpers and trim .
I really loved it as well. If it was mine I'd just have the wrap redone properly, instead of removing it. There's véry few road cars that can have a racing livery on them without looking dreadful, the Impreza is one of those few, and the Martini livery is possibly the best classic livery out there (it's either that, the Gulf livery or the Alitalia livery for me), so a Martini-wrapped Impreza was a match made in heaven.
Yeah guys for that model on the boot / trunk lid its a two part decal / badge with WRX and Impreza under it , .. They are brought / part numbered as one part , even though there is two parts
Great car, I'd be making sure the strut towers and top mounts are double skinned / reinforced if doing jumps, seen too many struts punch through on big landings 👍
