I learnt my lesson the hard way. Booked connecting flights Bhubaneswar-Singapore to Singapore-Bali. The knowledge I didn't have was if you book under different PNRs you have to pass through immigration and for that Transit Without Visa is not permissible even if your destination allows Visa On Arrival. Singapore ofcourse required Visa for Indians, I skimmed through immigration information, coz earlier I had travelled to Thailand via Singapore but by luck or light I had gotten same flights under same PNR. This I hadn't paid attention to while booking tickets to Bali, my focus was only on the cheap tickets. Well, when you travel in low cost carriers like Indigo, their responsibility is to drop you from A-B. You need to have visa for B if you wish to proceed B-C. They denied us boarding, but suggested we book through KL as its VOA. Thank God we took our intial loses and went home. Same exact thing would have been repeated. Btw this incident was on 16/09/2023
You need a Malaysia transit pass for transiting in Malaysia for more than 24 hours, if you have to pass through IMMIGRATION to board ANOTHER FLIGHT, RETRIEVE YOUR LUGGAGE, or SWITCH BETWEEN TERMINALS. However, Indian nationals transiting through Malaysia are eligible for a TRANSIT PASS (WITHOUT VISA). This pass allows a stay of up to 120 hours (5 days) on journeys to/from a third country and is exclusively issued at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Low-Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT). If the flights are booked on the same ticket (same PNR) and you do not exit the airport, then typically, you wouldn't need to go through immigration or require a separate transit pass. Before your journey, it's advisable to check with your airline, especially if you have connecting flights overseas. Some countries you pass through en route to your destination may require a separate transit visa. Please refer to the visa requirements of each specific country.
Can someone tell me if I book the connecting flights with same pnr and have more than 24 hours layover in Malaysia. Will I be able to go out of the Malaysia airport? If so then what do I need?
The solution is not to book the same airlines. The transit visa rules clearly startes that change of terminal would need visa of transit country so you ll have to book the cheapest route and if different flights and different pnr you need to have visa for the transit country.
I also had a doubt regarding this when I travelled 6 months before to Bali but I just confirmed with my travel agent before my travel .Always make sure that the PNR is same if not you will have these kind of issues.
Agr same airline hai same pnr hai to layover jaha hoga jaise kualalumpur me waha frse immigration aur security check krna hoga kya did you guys go thru the immigration and security check again when you purchased the same airline ticket
If I’m going to travel to vietnam with connecting flights on same PNR. I have more than 24 hours layover ( 24 hours 35 mins ) in this airport. So how can I enter the country during this layover time. Can someone tell me?
Even if Malaysia is visa free till 31 December 2024 and we're transiting through it onwards to Bali, do we still require a transit visa or arrival card? (PNRs diff, flights diff and terminals too)
You should always make sure you do not change terminal when connecting flights. This is not only for Bali all sectors. Book tickets carefully. It is not a mistake by makemytrip or cleartip.
Agreed! We learnt our lesson, but we saw many more people like us doing same mistake. So thought to share a video that can reach out to people and they do not do mistake like us 😄
Air Asia operates from a whole different airport - KLIA 2, whereas Baltik Air would have landed in KLIA. Two separate PNR means you need to collect your bags and check-in again with your second ariline, which means you need to clear immigration first in the transit country. So, irrespective of the terminal you still would have required a visa. It's unfortunate, but i'm glad you had the funds to fork out. Lessons learnt, ey!
Hiii....I booked ticket to Bali from make my trip and it is showing two different PNR numbers for flight from India to Malaysia ( Air Asia)and then from mal to Bali (Air Asia x)... Do I need a transit visa in Malaysia...
I am travelling to bali in September via kualalumpur and have a layover of 1 hr 50 min in kualalumpur same pnr, same airline my question is is 1 hr 50 min enough for changing flight?
Hi, please reply.. I reach Kula Lumpur at 6:20 AM(Air Asia) and I have connecting flight to Surabaya at 9 AM (Indonesia Air Asia), I only carry backpack. Can I catchup connecting flight? please explain me the transit visa process.
Hello, it was helpful when we were booking our tickets. Just a little doubt, we have booked extra 20kg luggage from Delhi and seats on both flights to avoid any hassle of overbooked flights and confused about the luggage do we need book luggage on both flights or just once .
Hi I have 3 questions, 1. if we go for E-visa, will they ask for hotel bookings there too ? As I want to decide the trip with the flow (where to spend how much time, although my return ticket will be booked) 2. did you carry 34$ exact or they returned the money? 3. do they have WIFI at the airport?
1. That’s fine if you don’t have hotel bookings for all the places. We also didn’t had and they didn’t ask us about hotel bookings. But you can book for 1 place, so you can show in case if they ask 2. They gave change 3. Yes WiFi is available
I booked connecting flight from Delhi to Bali, which has a layover at Hanoi airport,so do I need Vietnam visa or transit visa for the same? Is pnr number gonna be same or different?
Having 3hrs layover in Kul and the ticket shows self transfer (different pnr, same airlines). So to collect the checked in luggage, do I have to go through customs and immigration and check in again?
Even if Malaysia is visa free till 31 December 2024 and we're transiting through it onwards to Bali, do we still require a transit visa or arrival card? (PNRs diff, flights diff and terminals too)
I am going to Bali next month via Singapore Airport by Singapore Airlines and having single PNR. Its the same while returning back. My questions are, 1. Do we need to have Singapore visa for same airlines and same PNR ? 2. If we need to apply for e-visa beforehand, what kind of documents are needed and is their any link for processing the same. Thanks in advance.
@AmitShaw51 If you are traveling via the same airline and / or with the same PNR, then you need not obtain a singapore visa. While at the checkin counter, make your luggage through to be collected at Denpasar / Bali Airport. In Singapore, if you need to change terminal its quite easy as all the terminals are connected via sky train or bus
How was inflight experience, leg room comfort and extra luggage charges (I only have 7Kg allowance) cost travelling to Bali from Bangalore in May through Air Asia via Bangkok (layover)

my travel india to bali via kula lumper by air aisa airlines single PNR and connecting flight layover time is 2 hrs 10 min ,,, kindly advise is malaysia trasit visa required or not ???
If we Indians have 15 hours layover and flight with same pnr can we leave airport for day trip in malasia and board flight again for that visa required?
In general, You can’t leave the airport without visa. We were not allowed to go another terminal as we didn’t had visa. But now Malaysia is visa free for Indians, so you can go and explore without visa.
@@life2wander865please reply, as malaysia is visa free for indians right now, does that mean even if we have different airlines, different PNRs we won't need visa.
If you don't have a chance to fill before boarding your flight, you can fill the form at the computer terminal in baggage claim area in Bali just before customs.
That was an eye opener what happened with you guys. I also have similar kind of case, flying from Kolkata to Bali via KUL but my terminal is not changing, though my PNR for flight from KUL to Bali is different than that of Kolkata to KUL. Do I need a transit visa for Kuala lumpur in this case?
@@nitinsoni6868 Yes, I travelled but didn't face any issue. Visa on arrival is available in Malaysia, which has to be taken while transiting too (free of charge). Just fill up there MDAC form, which can be done after reaching there too.
@@life2wander865 : you mean even for self transfer we dont need transit visa..? Because our ticket is self transfer but same airline same terminal n a single pnr..
