Great review of the bike! I just bought an aluminum TR Scout and it rips compared to my previous bike. You mentioned that beacause of the stiffer carbon frame and travel of the bike, it tends to skip around in rock gardens. Have you tried playing around with suspension setup in those scenarios? I wonder if you adjusted the rebound and/or compression if you would get different results at all. Maybe make sure the sag is also dialed in too. I understand more travel can help float over obstacles but I thought a 29er with 160/150 would be plenty. Just curious 😊
Thank you and appreciate you watching! Yeah so I’ve tried 2 different shocks (rockshox superdeluxe ultimate coil & float x2) but with both I still find the bike doesn’t like to plow straight through rock gardens. I will note that with the coil it does make it feel abit softer then the air shock but that’s to be expected with a coil shock. I know with other reviewers they mention the same thing so I think it’s due to the frame construction of the bike. I would say it’s a very race feeling bike.
@@Chris-505 good to know! Thanks for sharing! My friend just got a Spire and I am curious to see how he likes it. I will say I am impressed with Transition bikes overall. I just rode my Scout for the 1st time this last week and I was surprised how capable it was but still an efficient climber. The suspension design is pretty impressive and I love the more slack head angle and long wheelbase. My previous bike was a 2017 Diamondback Release and it was a decent statter bike but the Scout is sooooo much better and more capable.
@@phillipmoore8531yeah I can’t speak enough good things about transition bike in general! Although my sentinel is 2 years old, I think it will hold onto it for the next 4-5 years! This bike really suites my riding style.
I just bought a Sentinel and thought the 160/150 would be way smoother on the DH. My suspension needs some adjustments. Went with the alloy because the shop didn’t have the carbon model but a couple riders I look up to recommended the alloy!
Thanks for the vid. Had mine for a couple of months and pretty much agree with you on all points. I’m coming from a high pivot Deviate Highlander. Sentinel in comparison is very lively, playful and confidence inspiring in steep but I’m surprised how harsh back end feels through rough rooty and rocky sections (even on coil). Still trying to figure out Fox 36 as it feels well over damped so maybe that affects the rear….
