Love your Sentinal and your review was very clear and excellent all the way. And glad to hear the choice you made on Medium size. I am 5'9" and rode my friend's Sentinal large. He is 6'. It was a great ride, but he noted I was stretched out a bit. His friend has a Commencal Meta TR which has much the same feel and functionality. My Meta TR 29 Medium arrives in 2 weeks and we look forward to switching bikes and comparing, but we already know neither of us can go wrong.
Been loving my 2019 sentinel. Great review. Not sure I’d upgrade to new new sentinel except for the increased tire room and warranty. Guess we’ll wait and see for the reviews. Buddy absolutely loves the new scout (he’s had the last 3 generations).
That's been my perspective as well. Since lightening mine up, it's been able to handle anything and everything I like to ride. If anything, I'd love to have a matching Scout.
well done review with lots of pertinent details covering tires, etc. how do you like the new XT trail pedals? do they feel much different? the new Sentinel looks great, but just in a slightly different way. i still think the original with the organic looking curves may be the nicest looking fully ever designed.
It's hard to quantify the exact difference between the new XT trail pedals without directly going back and forth but I feel like the additional width adds value for aggressive riding. I like the increase in width; I usually run the new full alloy Saint pedal or the old Saint Pedal with the resin cage as they offer more of that "sure-footed" feeling of stability. They are also easier to get back into in the rough terrain. The additional width of the new XT clip-ins offers a bit of that.
