I commute from my home in Tokyo to my parents' house, which is a 2-hour drive away, and live a dual-location lifestyle. Their house is an old Japanese-style home, and although it may be inconvenient, I enjoy the atmosphere and have intentionally refrained from remodeling it. I never used to like the simple and modest Japanese-style garden, but now I find it exciting to think about arranging it to my own taste, even if it's just a little bit.
Even though gardening mostly involves grass-cutting, I always find it enjoyable. Why is that, even though I used to hate cutting grass when I was younger? This is what makes life interesting, right?
