White-eye bird are smaller than sparrows at around 12 cm in length. It is listed as an animal of Least Concern on the Red List of Threatened Species and is therefore prohibited from being captured or kept in captivity.
It is characterised by its namesake 'white ring around the eyes', dark brown feathers and greenish back.
The white-eye bird are sometimes called 'flower suckers' or 'flower dewdrops' because of their preference for flower nectar.
Around April/May, white-eye bird flock to plum blossoms and sing beautifully.
