Have been watching a number of your videos & really enjoy them. As a suggestion with your product you're displaying would be a "setup diagram" something to show your wiring, coax wiring attachments from component to component. Thanks

For the really paranoid and/or have an over the air antenna. You should get a MoCA POE Filter so MoCA signals don't leave your home or actually BROADCAST out of your over the air antenna.

I really like that these have two ethernet outputs on them. You could have one output going to a game console, and another going to a smart tv. Or two game consoles hooked up and getting full 1gb bandwidth from a router that is far away. Or one connection going to a smart tv and the other to a wireless router to extend the range for other devices. Lots of good options over only having one output!

this is slick. Exactly what I need because my son is complaining about the wifi in the basement ... I do have coax on which I am running satellite to both locations but would be a total PIA to try and run ethernet from where the cable modem and router are located . A little more studying and this is the way I am going to go . This is really cool technology .

Lon, Congrats on a well planned and executed effort !! I have a question re: Moca in general. 1) Am I getting it right that the first Moca box has to be connected to the Cable Modem via the ethernet port or other device, but then the Coax output from the Moca adapter has to be connected to another, different Coax wall outlet? Most houses don't have 2 Coax wall outlets in the same room at all, and if they do, they are not close to each other. Am I getting this right? At the best, it seems to me, you have to lay a long Coax cable or Ethernet wire along the baseboard to get to the other Coax outlet. Our house was built in 1995 or so, and this is the case for us. What do you think ? 2) Could you use a splitter to connect the 1st Moca box back through the same single Coax outlet that you came from? I'm sure I'm out of my depth here. Again, thanks for a great channel !!! Jack
@dancecho
@dancecho 4 года назад
No, you would use the one wall jack. That would connect to the moca adapter, which has 2 coaxial ports. The other port would be used to connect the adapter to your cable modem. So it goes wall to moca, and moca to modem. Hope that helps.
@applejack342
@applejack342 4 года назад
@@dancecho Thank you, Daniel. I actually ordered the latest unit from Actiontec, but they have removed the 2nd Coax input/output from their newest 2.5 device, and now recommend using a 2 way splitter instead (??). I told them no thanks, and now I'm checking out other choices from other suppliers. Thanks for getting back !!!! Jack

Thank you for this review, I was cheap when I built my house a few years ago and didn't install ethernet cables coz I thought we all use wifi nowadays but then I started playing Call of Duty Multiplayer where speed is king so I'll have 1 port plugged into my PS5 and the other for mesh router. Can you actually do a test where you set it up with your ISP modem?
@JimmyKumbaya
@JimmyKumbaya 4 года назад
Using a single, short, dedicated coax cable to communicate between two devices in the same room has got to be the best-case scenario. How about demo'ing bandwidth and response time between devices on opposite sides of (say) your house, across one or two splitters?
@LonSeidman
@LonSeidman 4 года назад
I have done that in previous MoCA videos - generally it works well. My challenge with 2.5 over longer distances is that I have older splitters in use which weaken its performance.

Hey Lon great video! However I get really confused when setting up the moca adapter near my modem/router combo. As of right now, my only coaxial jack is plugged into my modem/router combo. I’m quite confused how I connect the 1st moca adapter to my router.
@dancecho
@dancecho 4 года назад
Connect the existing coaxial cable from your wall jack to your moca adapter, then get another coaxial cable and connect it from the moca adapter to your cable modem/router. There should also be an ethernet cable connection from the moca adapter to the modem/router. Then the second moca adapter (presumably in another room) is connected to another coaxial wall jack, then connected to your PC via ethernet cable.

Just a quick question, does it also send the TV signal to the rest of the house via Coax or only the Ethernet data? Also other than a high bandwidth splitter why do we need power passed splitters, or can one just use a simple high bandwidth splitter 5-2300Mhz without power pass to all ports? I have tried reading the MoCA standard and there is no mention of using power.

I wonder why none of these MoCA 2.5 units have 2.5GBASE-T ethernet ports on them, it just seems like the two would go hand in hand. 2.5Gbps through the coax and 2.5Gbps pushed through to the ethernet side of things. I know that that 2.5Gbps on the coax side of things is shared but if you only have 2 adapters you're going to get that full speed.
