In this episode I remove the transmission from my "Late Bay" 1978 ASI Riviera Camper VW Bus and package it up for shipping off for a rebuild.
If you are interested in my three part series on dropping the engine you can find Episode 1 of that here: • Engine Out Pt 1: Remov...

Thanks! I have more in the works, but we bought a house so that has been a bit of a distraction.

So what's the status now? I just bought a Riviera and stumbled across your channel. Did you get the transaxle all sorted and back in?

The transmission and engine are both back but not yet reinstalled, because I need to get through body work and paint. I started taking the top off, and then we bought a house, which is a bit of a fixer upper as well. I guess I like having projects, hahah. So I have been doing a bunch of work on the house, first to get it move in ready, then moving, and then working on fixing enough things that I can get the garage in shape to move the bus to the garage here and get back to work again. I have some video of starting to take the canvas off and checking a few issues related to how bad of shape is the body really in, that I need to edit together and post. So I am not currently hung up on any parts, but I am hung up on having enough time.

@@thepeachproject8010 Thanks. Much appreciated. Apart from the pop-top, none of the Riviera interior is still there (except the obligatory dash table bracket (with no dash table to hook onto it!). Riviera's are pretty rare in my part of the world (London, England) so it took me a while to even work out what conversion it was! It's a LHD import from Texas (apparently it was imported to the UK about ten years ago). Luckily for me the bodywork/underside are in really good shape, it just needs some TLC to refresh a lot of the mechanicals. Engine and transmission seem good, but I've already replaced all the steering parts and need to do the front balljoints next. Oh, and the brakes need going through too! I've subscribed, so look forward to seeing what you get posted when you get the chance. I too have been renovating a house, so know how these things go. Good luck!
