Exactly. All these "alternative" ideas seem to function, like "infinite energy" or similar, but without any load attached. The efficiency of this mechanism in transferring torque and power seems to be very low, anyway.

I see major frictional losses if a load were applied. Would wear out quickly even with pressurized lubrication

@@johnw4590 excellent observation, friction,heat, and the undersized bars. It’s a interesting concept but I concur, it’s useful lifespan would be short. Linear bearings possibly lubricant impregnated bushings might improve its survival rate some.

for the right application it would work just fine

@@tristengerhardt6748 I can think of a few applications. I think with the right bearings possibly liner and instead of 90’ bends 90’ radius it would be worth a try. The great thing about this video is the conversations it generated the exchange of knowledge and opinions.

in practice, it'd be in an oil filled housing like the Almond silent right angle drive of a hundred years ago. made in Ashburnham MAss. It's open like this so you can see it.

Well, not true. But at the same time you've got 6 times friction losses and no oil will compensate for this.
