Hi guys
Today I am talking to you about my Transport Manager CPC journey.
You might have seen my previous video where I have reacted to the exam results for my Certificate of Professional Competence Transport Manager exams.
I did pass both P1 and P2 exams first attempt and I am now a Transport Manager. I am very proud of myself and I hope this video will help you to answer a few new starters questions which I had at the start of my journey.

Hi, and thank you for lovely comment I did in class course which is what I highly recommend doing unless you are very good in self studying in which case grab a book and good luck. I can recommend a good book if you like but try looking online for some online courses too.

P2/R2 about the topic what kind of topics they might give you. And I looked at city and guilds but I couldn’t find cpc management course. Which company would you recommend to study with ?

@@doski4life I am planning from September (when kids go back to school and I can work more ) to do a lot more videos on the professional series that would cover the CPC too. I studied with Haulage institute but notsure what ones are round you. Check on google for CPC Trainings near your location

Dear Agnes Mann Writing this my kind email to let you know that it would be really nice to see you become a young female truck driver It would help you cope while your husband is busy out on the road delivering you could get a truck wash machine built for your yard then you could put the spars trucks through the truck wash ready for the road Then all you need to do is put more messages out their for more female drivers for tramping and day delivering drivers and you could also take on more heavy road fright

that is not something I imagine doing, especially having young kids at home and I think this is the reason why we see so little women on the road driving trucks. Nice suggestion though so thank you Matthew.

Yeah she's got a degree in accounting and holds a tm cpc let's sit behind the wheel and be away from home all week, one of the reasons I'd be looking into this is so I wouldn't have to do the driving

OCR no longer examines CPC therefore you cannot find it on their website The Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) examination is offered by a number of Awarding Organisations, including a trade associations (for example Logistics UK / Road Haulage Association (RHA) / British Association of Removers (BAR) / Confederation of Passenger Transport UK (CPT), a professional body (Institute of Transport Administration (IoTA) / The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) / Society for the Environment (SOE) / Institute of Road Transport Engineers (IRTE), or an OCR approved examination centre. look on their websites for examples and past papers Thank you

Yes you can. One person can be a director a driver and TM. You just have to make sure you allocate your working hours to TM and directors duties in accordance with Working Time Directive

ADR would have earn a bit more due to the potential risks carried with the job. However, it’s not going to be significant difference. Best thing is to check on Recruiters website

I think this can be done via the website that examines the cpc. I had mine booked by my tutor whom I had classes with so didn’t have to worry about that part. Do let me know once you have booked it so I know for future reference

I do have notes from the cause but they are like a printouts of powerpoints so not enough info on it to learn with no teachers explanation. Hello, I am very happy for you and I have a question for you. Is the certificate you received valid in European countries or only in the UK? I am from Bulgaria and my husband wants to establish a company there and I want to get this certificate and help him, but I am not sure if it will be valid there.

I believe it’s valid all over Europe as it allows for managing the fleet outside the UK too (international licence) but best would be to call your countries traffic commissioner and check

Yes. I know many people with basic education becoming TMs. You can do anything if you put your mind to it. Go for it!

Hi Agnes. Did you have any prior experience/knowledge in the sector before starting the course and if not do you feel that made it harder for you during the learning/training? One of the CILT centres I contacted today said they would not take me for the blended programme(self study + 10 sessions of virtual lessons) as I do not have any experience in the transport road haulage sector and therefore the lessons would be very hard and I would not be able to engage with the rest of the cohort, who come from the sector. Just like in your case, my brother asked me to get the CPC to help him. Would be great if you could share some thoughts regarding your experience with the course and if you think it makes a real difference being or not being part of the sector prior to starting a hard course such as CPC. Thanks.

Hi Adrian. Thank you for your Q. I did not have a prior industry knowledge but I did have accounting qualifications (ACCA) which did make part of it easier to understand (there is a bit on accounts) I still went on full 8 weeks in class training (8x2 days training making 16 lessons) in order to complete my course and I did find it challenging . It was a very intense and packed in lots of information that needed to be learned and understood in order to pass these exams (and I am quite academical and enjoy studying) So if this is what they tell you , they propably trying to encourage you to take a full on in class training (even if virtual). I honestly think if I was to do self study with just 10 online classes I might have struggled to pass the exams, but you might be a bright individual and it is not impossible to do. @@manpreetdhillon4536 its an open book exam, and I have brought two books with me so I don't think they will stop you to bring more books. But if you don't know where to look for Info in your books, you will not pass as there is not much time to be looking for things in your book then, it's there to aid your answers only.

You need no TM qualification to bid for loads no. It allows you to manage the fleet of vehicles and transport staff and operations

Tak, bo zeby byc podwykonawca musisz miec Operating Licence. A wymogiem takiej licencji jest zatrudnienie Transport Managera.

Tak najpierw musisz aplikować na O licence żeby muc jeździć swoją ciężarówka. I wtedy będziesz musiał kogoś zatrudnić żeby był twoim TM albo sam możesz zrobić. Wtedy nie musisz komuś płacić

It might be not acceptable here especially for UK national licence which requires UK transport business and law knowledge So not sure to be honest

@@edbutkus4272 there is a Lot to learn but also many things are logical and unless you try to understand them it would be difficult to memorise it all. This knowledge will be very useful to do the TM job

@@edbutkus4272 no problem, you can do this. I failed 6 times before I passed 5 final exams to qualify as an accountant! plus I had a full-time job and 3 kids, so if I could do this, you can do it too.. Failure makes you humble... Keep in touch and let me know once you passed it all.

Im Polish Any literally Any theory exam in my life was not as difficult as work on automotive production line... in comparison to Polish standards its a way easier to gain any qualifications here in the UK.

@@AgnesMann tak mam jakies smieszne kursy robione z nudow CMI przyjechalem w 2005 roku i dajac moje CV (pracowalem w duzym centrum leasingowyn) dajac moj dyplom magisterski uslyszakem ze w UK moje wyksztalcenie i doswiadczenie nic nie znaczy i musze zaczac od pracy fizycznej. Tu wydaje mi sie mowiac zupelnie obiektywnie jest bardzo latwo ...sprawdz czy w PL ktos bez wyksztalcenia moze od tak zrobic sobie kurs spedytora.

@@hxchxc ja tez w 2004 przyjechalam, zrobilam Universytet, Potem Acca potem TM i mimo iż lubię się uczyć i w Polsce zawsze wszystko zaliczałam to acca i TM nie były łatwe do nauczenia i zdania. W porównaniu do polski tu nikt nie może „ściągać” na egzaminach wiec musisz się nauczyć żeby zdać. Nie jest tak łatwo jakby sie wydawało. Ale fakt ze w UK wola doświadczenia zamiast kwalifikacji

@@AgnesMann gdzie w PL mozna sciagac z pewnością nie na politechnice. Chyba piszesz o szkole podstawowej:) nie porównujmy studiow scisluch (mechatronika) z jakias socjologia itp. Pisze z pelna odpowiedzialnoscia ze system pruski mimo swoich wad jest systemem duzo lepszym stad nasi inżynierowie sa tak cenieni w swiecie.

Zgadzam się z tym ze Polska edukacja jest na wyższym poziomie ale pisząc ze egzaminy w UK to pikus nie mając żadnych brytyjskich kwalifikacji jest nie podstawne. Zdaj jakiś egzamin w UK a wtedy możesz pisać jest łatwo

Yes but most likely it will be a very junior positions but you can build your experience and role very quickly in this industry

The course was only £1k plus the exams £280 so not so much really for what career path you get with it

@@tto45 apologies for some reason I though you were asking about acca exams For TM exams I had booked for me via OCR side which no longer carries out these exams. So I think now it’s CITL or whoever the body that governs these you book through them. My tutor booked it for me as I took a course to study with the Haulage Institute. Or you can call Fleet planner and ask them they do too prepare online and book exams for you

hey, thanks for watching. The materials I have is in a form of a printed PowerPoint presentation which is just a short point on the course that was then deeper explained during the lessons. So it won't be very useful to anyone other than those that will attend the same course (they give these out in the class) I would recommend you get this book for self study: amzn.to/3LRgXYd I hope this helps

Jash will not be able to help you. We are now in India and best way is to go to Facebook groups and look for TM there. Ask around and make sure they have some experience
