You guys find the most amazing volunteer opportunities! I love the smell of lavender! What podcast are you guys listening to? That is a beautiful countryside for walking. Loving the hay bale games. :-) That's so nice of the guy to invite you to meet his mother and for them to show you the church. Wow, what a historic church!
I cant actually remember what the podcast was. It was probably a football one for Danny and The Guilty Feminist for Roxanna (we took turn choosing). Yeah, it was a really lovely experience to spend time there, we had a lot of time in big cities so it was nice to have something different.
We use workaway. It has oppertunites all over the world so we also volunteered in Japan and Cambodia. All diverse experiences. Yes lavender everywhere and all over the house too!
What a cool way to travel with workaway! I bet you learn a lot and make deeper connections with locals that way! I'm impressed with how hospitable the locals were with you guys! That church was so cool!
Yes, that's partly why we do the work away it's about real connections, learning and also not just 'taking' from a place. There are so many wonderful people in the world, it's so wonderful when you witness it. People here were lovely!
I expect you in Transylvania, Cluj -Napoca and I offer you a very nice adventure, guide, bed and food if you help my few days at some work in agriculture or traditional apiculture! Welcome to Transylvania!
The landscape and house remind of the place called Skye in Scotland beautiful and peaceful friendly people too, Nice painting interesting 👍🏼 take care stay safe my friends🥰❤️
I know that you don't care, and that for you, foreigners, this matter is just "interesting", but for us (well, for non-Transilvanian Romanians mostly) the issue of hungarians claiming these lands as their own is actually a hard to digest issue. We, Romanians, have bled so much over the centuries to give everyone within these territories a cohesive country that they can call home, and every now and then someone decides that he's the nephew of god or some other crap like that, and he doesn't give a shit about Romania, even though this country is offering them all they need to live happily on these lands. It's a harsh reality, very hard to digest as a non-Transilvanian dude (from Wallachia, more specifically). Moldavian and Wallachian rulers have lost their children and sacrificed their lives to make this place hospitable for everyone but many Transilvanians see themselves as hungarians, which I have nothing against because everyone should be proud of their roots, but not at the detriment of the people and government that's giving you food and shelter. This is so rude and saddening...
Beautiful 😍 Loved the video. Well done. 💪 Awesome song selection too. Thanks for sharing. Subscribed to follow your adventures #481. We make adventure videos too, I hope our channels grow together. 👍
We use a website called workaway. It's really good. We have done it in Romania, Japan and Cambodia. It's a way to meet people, learn things and also slow down our travel and appreciate without rushing around.
Without delving into the politics of it all too much, the Hungarian ethic groups have faced a lot of struggle in Romania, mainly under Ceausescu, but not only during then. So even though many people who live in those villages speak only Hungarian (and even some only have Hungarian passports despite being born in Romania), there is still some very 'Romanian' things. As with must things, its very messy and confusing at times, but they are the facts!
The village has three churches, the Hungarian descent villagers attend the Catholic one and follow their services, while the Romanian descent villagers are Orthodox Christians, there are two churches for this denomination (as it is the religion for the vast majority of Romanians), the old one in the video, and a more recent one that is used for the regular services 🤗🌿🍀☀️ Hope this helps clear things up a wee bit 🍀🌿☀️🌳
All former Eastern block countries are pretty heavily religious as during communism, their respective communist governments banned any form of religion, so post the '89 revolutions, religion was brought back in a way by the people and now holds a very important place in customs and social organisation and beliefs - this is a sidenote though, as to why one will find an innumerable number of churches in even the smallest of settlements in Eastern Europe as a whole 🍀🌿☀️🌳
How beautiful. A very generous folk with their hospitality. Sharing that which mean so much to them. Priceless. 🎥👍❤️🌷Those butterflies were magic. Great discovery. ooooh the FEET!!!! 😂 Just such a pity about the wind while talking. Hard to hear properly. But it didn't spoil the views.
That is definitely off the beaten track. It is amazing how friendly people can be. They are proud of their homes and heritage. The gathering of butterflies was beautiful, but then to come across the sculptures. Great video as always 🎥❤️🌈👍
Thank you! It was a really nice different experience after we had spent a while hopping between towns and cities. Felt lovely to get away from the hustle and bustle for a little bit.
Good info about the workaway. Perhaps more info on how the program works, any fees, types of placements. I've looked into volunteer travel like this and have done homestays for a more authentic experience. Good they they suggested you goto the church, locals can take great pride in their town/village. Not sure what happened to the old man that was leading you, it jumped to the next part.
Thanks for the feedback! Maybe one day we will do a video with more detail about Workaway because its such a useful tool to travel around. The old man...well the story is after he walked us to the village, he got a couple of beers in a shop and then flagged a random car down to drive him home, that was it. All happened very fast! Haha!
So who had the key in the end of the church? At least you had the luck to ring the bell. Those villages are nice and quiet and the lavender fields are beautiful!
The countryside looks very peaceful. I enjoyed learning about the history of the Romanian alphabet and the hidden rope attached to a bell. That was cool to see the beautiful butterflies and giant foot statue in the end.
This is so cool!! My family bulid the lake at the end of the video and our friends, who are artists, sculpted all the pieces across subsequent summers as part of their summer projects for their degree 💚🤗☀️🌿🌳🍀 So happy to see they are so appreciated and they got a wee feature in the video 🤗💃🔥☀️🌿🍀 Glad to see yous had such an amazing experience in Romania 🤗🤗🌿🍀💚🌳
Oh wow, that's so cool, thanks for commenting and letting us know! IT was such a lovely little spot, really enjoyed the whole time we had and our picnic by the lake. We really loved the country of Romania!😊😅😀
@@slightlyoffthebeatentrack7322 that's amazing to hear 🤗🍀☀️🌿🌳 If yous are ever in Scotland, give me a message and I'll show you some of the beautiful sights here too, Scotland reminds me of Transylvania a lot 🇷🇴🏴☀️🌿🍀🌳
On the other hand, Romanians are not allowed to speak, let alone identify as Romanians in Greece, Serbia (Macedonia seems to acknowledge them as the old Macedonian people). The so called Aromanians/Vlachs (who speak Romanian) who inhabited the Balkans before the Slavs came. Hungarians..never acknowledged the existence of Romanians in Transilvania, but at least its common knowledge that it has always been an Empire, rather than a nation/ethnicity. (Ethnically, the Hungarians realize the have nothing to do with the supposed Magyars from north Siberia.. if it wasn't obvious enough by their appearance, they realized it by taking Ancestry DNA tests. They are either Romanian, either Slavs or Germans, but 0% Magyar)
