Rich country, rich people. The standard of life is very high. Hope people of my country will also get it in next few years. Nice video .... Regards from INDIA
My wife and I along with guide dog puppy Rupert were on this trip when this video was being filmed. If you enjoy rail journey's then this is a must. I imagine that at the time of writing this (July) the amazing scenery with snow on the Southern Alps would be even more spectacular. The carriages are modern, very quiet and comfortable and the service by the staff on board was excellent. Well done Kiwi Rail.
that trip is worth doing from Christchurch to greymouth in a day expensive full commentary all the way, good for overseas visitors staff on board friendly and meeting different travelers far and wide, it's a whole day trip value for money , brief stop in greymouth.
hi there, Did you do the scenic plus dinning experience? Wondering if its worth the money, just for a dinning experience, assuming the viewing experience is the same.
Hey is it okay if I use some of this stunning footage for a booktrailer (a school project). It will be made unlisted, so it's only my teacher and maybe a few others who will see it?
Really disappointed with this video. I travelled on the line in 2001 and it was one of the highlights of my visit, this is a complete waste of bandwidth. The line travels on one of the most awesomely scenic routes and all you have here is external shots of the train and internals of passengers.
mautu ioapo tranzalpine train journey between christchurch & greymounth new zealand thonk you youtube videos goodday by now mautu ioapo thonk you 20.10.2014
I RECOMMEND YOU AVOID TAKING KIWI SCENIC RAIL. The infrastructure of the New Zealand rail network was design for freight trains, not for the scenic journey. If you want a pleasant holiday in New Zealand, do not take the KiwiRail Scenic Rail. When a power generator overheated one hour into our intended journey, the Kiwi Scenic rail we were on concluded at a remote train station. We were left stranded at the remote train station without food and beverage (café car would not sell without power). After three hours of misery and without any information, buses arrived and a mad scramble started. It was a free for all at the baggage car - all without food, water, information, or shade. The bus driver made those that did have drinks pour them out before boarding the bus. KiwiRail management, after many discussions, is sticking to the terms & conditions that allow substitution to another mode of transportation, despite the 700% premium we paid for the train service over a bus service. KiwiRail is not setup like European rail to deal with issues, and it is the passengers that suffer. Odds are high that if you use KiwiRail, you will regret it on the day the service is supposed to be provided.
If you want European rail then take it and see what happens . you were lucky to even get a bus , and there is nothing wrong with our networks as machinery so brake down occasionally, so get over it
