As a guy who just moved from Maryland down to the Carolinas, it did my heart well to see steamed blue crabs. However to contrary believe, we don't like Old Bay when steaming crabs. (We'll use it everywhere else!) My favorite crab seasoning is JO #2, which has a hotter blend of peppers, and a different blend of spices, to allow mustard and celery seed to come through. Also, we use a beer and water ratio for steaming (though it's not the beer we drink with them. Save the good stuff!)
Indeed, I'm from central PA near York. We'd get a couple bushels of hard shells from Baltimore almost every summer and have a family reunion, picking crabs all day and night.
