Now that's all great and dandy but can you please figure out how to migrate from one version to another in one go. Last time I upgraded I cried :-). Every single project I had, had to go thru every single layer and manually migrate them. Now I want this version too but I don't wanna go thru same pain.
Maxon has dropped the ball on the quality and speed of Trapcode! Even in your tutorial you cannot run it at full speed like it once did before. When will you address these issues? Right now it is unusable.
We have made several updates since this video - some of which addressed performance. We are still working on improving performance further in future updates. That said, there are some ways to speed things up. Turning Air Density to 0 will turn off the new air physics simulations which can help some.
Agreed. Every new version of Trapcode is lagging more the the previous one. It's not worth of updating at all. I've never had any issue of speed performance with other major plugins, but with new versions of RG Trapcode. It's absolutely unusable now.

Hello! Thank you for your note. We just released a new version of Trapcode Particular today that includes some performance improvements including up to 3x faster performance when working with light emitters. The issue with the initial application of the effect is that After Effects has to index every parameter of a plugin when it's first applied and Particular has a very large number of parameters in just one system and then you have to multiplyy that number by 16 for the all the different systems you could have. Our Trapcode team has been in contact with the After Effects team at Adobe to discuss the issue. Performance is a big focus for us this year.
Everything would be nice if it wasn't so SLOW ... Now programs are created that calculate molecules in real time, why can't a trapcode particular do that?
@@MaxonRedgiant Opacity boost is gone, as far as I know. Which is not only a shame, but currently a reason to downgrade for me. All my old projects migrate, but they don't even look close.
@@pfuispinne They should look close - especially with the latest updates. If not, please contact our support team so they can look into things. It may be that making the particles color values higher than 1 in 32-bit solves the problem for you. (Bonus: more realistic results)

@Red Giant, I like the idea of turning down the particles as you work. Being we are constantly doing this, it would be nice to have custom settings for when new systems are added that it doesn't start with such a high number. So... something where we can set a default number, or in a future version, reduce the number by nature, when adding additional systems.
You can actually do this yourself! You can create a preset using the dropdown menu next to any system and save it as a preset. Then, when you go into the preset system, you can alt-click your preset to add the system to an existing setup. Note: if you're creating trails, there are presets for that (and one that replicates the old aux system) in the Basics folder of the built-in presets.
Unfortunately as beautiful as it is, none of this is useful if it's prohibitively slow to get particles running. Why is there such an incredible speed drop after Trapcode 15 and why hasn't it been addressed? It feels crazy to have to go that many versions back in order to get any work done.
Please get in contact with our support team and provide them with as many specifics as you can with how it ran in earlier versions vs. now. Our Trapcode team is looking into reports of speed issues like this so we can address them.
Hi thanks for this great tutorial, now ive gotten to the flack feature with predator and prey and its all working great. except i want to use this effect on a standard image or picture not just a partical text, so obviously i would select layer then down toolayer emmiter and select my layer but how do i create the same affect as with in the videohow would i go about doing this would it be possible with masking ? many regards luke
is there a newer tutorial than this one? i don't see the same layout and options in the trapcode i have. Like, where is Physics? where is air Environment?
Trapcode in particular is fantastic! However, I'm encountering this issue: when I try to use a new sprite, nothing changes. I went into Sprite Control and attached it to the correct layer, but nothing happened. Could someone please help me?
Sorry to hear you're having some trouble. Sprite behavior should be working. Please try uninstalling and reinstalling Trapcode. If that doesn't help, please create a support ticket at support.maxon.net
Now i've never used Trapcode for Ae *I just started using Ae a few months ago, when i decided to change my boring channel to something more interesting* Can you add these to a 3d object?
These Trapcode plugins seem very buggy. Particular for instance keeps crashing on me when all i have in my 30 sec comp is a solid with a particular preset and i try to render it to png sequence
I wonder what happens if you let AI analyse the code of your products, optimize it and combine functionalities where possible. I guess we will never know, will we?
Hi everyone! You choose any text layer you've created as the emitter layer. I also have a question about replacing the text layer. I agree with SirSirupy it seems to be a bug. The text layer labeled "Trapcode" does not change. I read that three guys also had problems with replacing the text layer. Maybe you can show it in a separate lesson?

Can anyone please fix my Trapcode installation error , i was just trying to install trapcode 15 but when i open trapcode suit installer it showed me this error " some products require host application which are not installed in this computer . I have searched through whole internet and many pages but didn't find anything . Also i have tried other versions as well but all of them shows the same error . If you guys know how can it be fixed , please help this poor guy . I edit videos and it's my hobby . It would be a great help guys 🙏🏼🙏🏼

That sounds like a licensing issue. Please make sure you're trying to license the version of Trapcode tools that you have a license for (often folks accidentally install a newer version than they have a license for) and, if you're still having trouble, please contact our support team at support.maxon.net
Why from Trapcode suite 16 and above, it's slow to response your manipulations (0:20 & 0:30)? I thought that's my specs problem, but today I saw your video, it's slow too.
With the more realistic physics system, sometimes it runs a bit slower (because it's doing a lot more realistic particle movement). If you turn the air resistance down to 0, that can make things move more quickly as it turns off some of the new physics. We are looking at ways to improve performance in future versions.
im using trapcode 18 and i have a problem! when i making key on effects position from 0 to a number it works but when i want to change it back to zero it dosnt work
Hey guys! After Effects keeps crashing on me every time I change the layer of my Text/Mask Emitter. I have a MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019): 2.3 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9 AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 4 GB All applications are up-to-date I've tried using both Mercury Software Only & Mercury GPU Acceleration (Metal) as my AE video & rendering settings, both to no avail. Any known solutions out there?
Some of our plugins (like Magic Bullet Looks) work in Resolve, but none of the Trapcode plugins do at this time. We will pass that request on to the team. You can check what host software each plugin works with here: www.maxon.net/requirements
I know I'm a bit late to party here, but for me, whenever I use the Text/Mask emitter type and set the layer to my text, it keeps changing to say "Trapcode" every so often. This seems to be a bug.
Hi there, I´ve just bought particular. Now I have a big problem: I´ve tracked an aerial drone shot in AE and I want to include a nice light streak in it. The 3D space is too large for the particular visibility "Far Vanish" setting with max. 100.000. I need 180.000 that the particles are visible! What can I do now? Is there a work around? Can´t switch of this setting....?!?! HELP pls

why is your Search Help not showing us where settings such as shadowlet is? it only telling us what it does. for example: if i don't see where to get certain effect or setting, i should be able to type it in the Search Help to see where it is located.
@@MaxonRedgiant in any of your program, cinema 4D, or particular...when we can't find where things are, we should be able to type it in the search field and be able to see where it is since you moved them around in each update version

That control was needed because of the old way of doing motion blur. It shouldn't be as necessary with the new motion blur system. Is there something you need it for?
@@MaxonRedgiant May I ask WHY is isn't neccessary anymore and how to achieve a similar effect? I used it A LOT for something like sparks, stilized raint etc. Now I need to downgrade, since I can't open a ton of files properly.
@@pfuispinne we use a more realistic rendering system now. Boosting particle color over 1 in 32-bit projects should make it work more realistically for sparks, etc.
I'm new to Particular and really wished there was an updated training program. It's a beast of a software. Question: Is there a way to attach the preset under Fluid called Blue Smoke on to a layer and change it's color? I really love this effect and want to apply it to a layer. If anyone can assist, that would be so helpful.
@@MaxonRedgiant so I have text and want to add the Blue Smoke effect to it. When I add the text layer to this effect, I still see the effect but it's not attached to the text but rather it's on its own position. It does not opportune similar to the standard particles.
@@ItsJustMeStevie You would need to adjust the position of System 1's emitter to be where you wanted it to be. The other systems' emitters are tied to that one's position.
@@Lolodosis-Abge It's in Particle Physics which is under the Particle settings now. You can have particles from different systems have different air resistance now. AND, you can have particle size affect the air resistance (and the mass).
@@MaxonRedgiant thanks, took me 3 days to find it myself. Now i can't seem to find Motion Blur option for my 2nd system in particular, things/options seem to go missing, like physics for example. Can't do turbulence if i cannot find air physics...
@@apollogt5506 The environment section has the all new wind and turbulence functionality. Much more realistic than the old one. (This is covered in the "What's New in Trapcode Particular 5" video.) The old turbulence and wind (now called Drift) are located in the Displace section.
@@apollogt5506 You're looking at one of the sub-systems. You need to show all systems (top section of the effect) or, at least, the Primary system to see some of those options.
