So I'm pushing the envelop to hard on the new Harley Davidson Pan America Special, wrong tyres, muddy track, this is a demo bike and I feel really bad as I'm stuck on a really boggy track ! Colin from Geelong Harley is not going to be happy !

Watching that reminded me of my friend. Her husband told her when she could pick up his Harley by herself he'd buy her a new Harley of her choice. Every day he'd lay his bike down for her. It took her two months, but she got her new Harley. 👍

That heavy breathing, that slightly panicked look, the looking at the bike from all angles and wondering how your going to get out of this. It makes me feel good to know I'm not alone. I remember taking my KLR for my first ride off road and got it stuck in the mud. For some reason I keep coming back :) Tires would help a lot but a big bike is always going to be anxiety inducing on a trail like that.

Well as expected your exploits on a motorbike never cease to amaze and bring a lot of joyous humour. You do realise that you can take a course for adventure riding and dealing with a bike like this and it costs only $200.00 maybe this would have been an option prior to taking a 35k monster into the bush. Be that as it may my man keep it up and as you always say never give up. Maybe start on a beach you have great luck with them NOT LOL

Excellent video of real world riding situations that we come across in adventure biking. It shows how simple tip overs or getting stuck can turn a simple tip over into a real emergency. If he tipped over and broke his ankle there’s probably no chance of him getting out of that situation and would have to wait for help, if there wasn’t a back up plan on an arrival time or communication or in longer more remote ride routes, he could be stuck there or anywhere for a long time. Being able to upright a bike in different situations other then the pave dry parking lot at the dealership could be life and death . Also proper bike prep and set up is very important 👍

My hat's off to you for even attempting this. I've got a 1993 Honda Transalp which I can't pick up alone. It's got a really high centre of gravity I think. Also, no side panniers. I'll only take it off-road if my wife goes with me. I was riding in the Gobi desert of Mongolia and dropped it a few times in deep sand. We had to unload our luggage just to get it up. Then strap on the soft luggage again. Fall and repeat. So, for solo trail riding, I'm considering either a Yamaha WR250R (street legal) or a KTM 500EXC (not street legal but allowed in Mongolia). These bikes are closer to 100kg than my Transalp's 200kg. I shouldn't have any difficulty picking that up on my own.

Very funny. "it's not a trail bike". Gotta love the marketing departments for these beasts (not just Harley). Violated rule #1 when you ride alone off-road: If you can't pick up the bike, don't take it. Second mistake: not turning around after the first fall. Nice job owning up to the real problem and nice job getting it out.
