Fur season is easily one of my most highly anticipated times of the year. The start of the season is a transition period away from fall and into winter, away from fish and deer and into fur and an entirely different kind of fun. I typically start the season with raccoons on the river, trapping from a small jon boat, kayak, or by foot. The furs tend not yet to be fully prime, but the (normally) still warm weather keeps the raccoons on the move and it can be a highly productive, and super fun, time to run a line. Raccoons can be somewhat easy to trap this way, especially with their overabundance, and that's awesome for a trapper with limited time. Follow along as I run my short working (typically weekend) traplines, pile up a few furs, and enjoy the beautiful outdoors.
