Our area started a facebook group for farmers and homebrewers. They pick up our spent grains and give some animal products for them. Eggs for grains and such. It's worked out well because animals love the spent grains and they don't just go in the trash.

For breadmaking, you can fill a whole sheet tray with spent grain, and pop it into an oven set to around 110 C to dehydrate it. Once dry, you got a very shelf-stable grain product that easily goes into bread, either as-is or ground up into mash flour.

Treberbrot as we call that bread in Germany is so damn delicious. Everytime I brew I have to bake a couple and freeze some Treber (spent grain) to bake another few. Best recipe: 500g Flour 250g spent grain 1 cube of yeast 1 tspn salt 250ml beer Mix everything except the salt and let it rest for 60mins. After that knead in the salt and let it rest another 10-15min. Meanwhile preheat the oven to 220°C. Put in a small bowl with water and the dough and bake for roughly 1hour or until the bread sounds hollow when you knock at the bottom
