Fr. I think even a lot of og xo looks this song over because of how mainstream it got, but it’s genuinely one of his best works. The production is insane.
Man. Daft Punk doesn't get enough credit. Their beats are always so sick. In a way that's like, "we traveled back to the 80's to borrow some techno swag. Then we went to the future and somehow made the beat drop in the present." Lol
@@Jack-gr2jh No man it's just that I don't listen to english songs much. One of my friends suggested this song to his friend while i was just there and asked him what song was it. But ngl this is dope song.
This video symbolizes the killing of his old self, the self that existed prior to him becoming a “starboy”. And he did the killing of course, clearing the way for the emergence of his new “star” persona. But it’s a new persona and life he seems to both love and hate, as he knows he can never go back to his old life of anonymity that he had prior to blowing up. He seems to be conveying the emptiness he feels in that persona and life at times (“house so empty need a centerpiece” and “we don’t pray for love, we just pray for cars”), even almost loathing the recognition his talent has garnered him (his destruction of all the awards and framed platinum albums), saying to his old self as his new self, almost in a tongue in cheek way, “look what you’ve done-I’m a mother f*cking starboy ”. Yet he also seems to be recognizing the good side of fame and money, as he mentions buying his Mom a house and car. It conveys his duplicitous and complex emotions, the dichotomy of a person at war with themselves. And it’s one of the things I love most about this song and his music. Along with his stellar vocals and 🔥track productions❤️ but how is it you’re just now hearing this? You can’t start here; you got to go back to the beginning of Abel-start at Trilogy and Kissland, and work your way up to his EP “My Dear Melancholy”, which being a professed lover of R&B, I think you will really appreciate and enjoy. Then you can review his NEW songs that just dropped, “Heartless” and “Blinding Lights”, which in my opinion, are BRILLIANT FIRE 🔥 and some of the best music he’s ever done👍
The Weeknd songs to react to (add to this list): Cant feel my face The hills Call out my name I feel it coming Try me Earned it Pray for me Party monster Often Acquainted Crew love In the night Dark times Tell your friends Price on my head Die for you A lonely night Reminder
The weeknd is by far one of my favorite R&B artist. His work is dark, sexual, and raw, while still giving you those vocals and melodies. Dude has an amazing voice! Thank you for jumping into his catalog! Can't wait to see more Weeknd reactions! As for the beginning of the video, where he kills himself, your spot on for the symbolism. His past album was about sex, drugs, and a dark side. This was his way of saying he has moved on to a brighter side and a clearer mind set with more positivity. Love the content bro! Keep them reactions coming.... Ayyyy
Man, you HAVE to listen to his old stuff from the Trilogy series. Songs like House of Balloons, High for this, Wicked Games, The Birds etc. Full of dope songs, would love to see your reaction to them. Great reaction as always though, keep up the good work- and congrats on 300k subs boiii!
I agree bro,you should start from the beginning...Trilogy,than the Kiss Land, then BBTM,then Starboy, then the EP MDM and by that time, hopefully you'll be intrested in the Chaper VI that is coming up and see why the whole #xofam is still so hyped up after all these years!!! "...seven years I've been swimming with the sharks now...!!!" -Heartless By The Weeknd #xotillweoverdose
He has a lot of different songs based on your mood. Wicked Games ... The Birds 2 ... House of Balloons/Glass Tables ... Lonely Star ... This guy is super talented
5:32 I LOVE THAT PART OF THE SONG! I've always loved Daft Punk since I was a kid, they are so talented! And yeah The Weeknd is really amazing aswell so I was pretty happy when this song came out, I was addcited to it for a long time. And yes basically he killed the old him in this video... 👊
Christian Guzman no it’s fine I wasn’t trying to sound like a d bag either I just see that type of fake XO comment on every Weeknd reaction video. But yea I do agree his older stuff is a lot more enjoyable like The Birds 1 and 2 and his remix of “Dirty Diana” D.D
Loved this video, The Weeknd is one of my favorite artists. You definitely should react to his older music like trilogy and kissland! He’s also working on a new album so whenever that comes out, I’d love to see your reaction👌🏼
Starboy is actually partly about cars. He mentions, "P1 cleaner than your church shoes" "Red Lamb' just to tease you" "Pull up in the Roadster SV" and that last part "We pray for cars."
Since u doing The Weeknd you should hear the first song that went mainstream from him to see how much he done changed. His old stuff was on a whole other level. Wicked Games- The Weeknd
His songs are basically an entire story that has such deep meanings behind them, he made starboy because his previous two songs "i cant feel my face and the hills" blew up and thats how he got his fame, and starboy basically means a person with a lot if fame so he made this song to show that he killed the old unknown weeknd and became the new starboy
So pumped your doing more on the Weekend man. Love his shit. Love to hear you do 'Secrets' next. It's a really interesting track man where he collabs with a former member of Duran Duran and the track has all these really unique 80s synth vibes while still being an RnB beast. Love the channel pal
This is legitimately one of my top 5 favorite songs. Glad you reacted to it. Anyone else think layedbak should just sing in every video? Haha love it #firesquad #whatspoppin
The main thing i like abt the weeknd is that when he made this song and showed everyone in RnB that he is above them he kept that titel as he made no.1 hits after this over and over again and now hes breaking records with blinding lights, as it is now the first song in history to be on the billboard hot 100 for 88 weeks
The way he made this song was in the middle of alot of hate he was receiving for the way he spent his money and people throwing shade at him cause they didnt like the way he carried himself. And this song was thought to be his reaction to the hate basically saying "all of you as my fans are the ones that made me rich and famous, you gave me all of this, now you dont like me having all of it, dont blame me, blame yourselves for giving it to me....like, dont complain about my fame when your the one that made me famous"
"house so empty need a center piece, 20 racks ($20k) a table made of Ebony (black wood), cut that Ivory (coke) into skinny pieces (lines), then she clean it with her face (she snortin), man I love my baby" - Song won a kids award 😂😂😂 baddass song
I'm guessing you'll want tracks with videos to make for more interesting viewing. For more hip-hop/trap sounding songs, definitely check out "King of the Fall", "Reminder" and "Party Monster". For a really good video, give "Pretty" or "False Alarm" a try. For classics, try "Wicked Games", "Rolling Stone", "Twenty Eight" or "The Hills". He's also got some great features which you may like. My favourites include "One of Those Nights" by Juicy J, "Might Not" by Belly, "Low Life" by Future, "Or Nah (Remix)" by Ty Dolla $ign or "Crew Love" by Drake. There's a lot of great songs in his catalogue so I definitely recommend giving it a listen through when you have a chance. I'd always suggest starting with his first mixtape (House of Balloons) and going from there so you can get a good understanding of the evolution of his work. Hope this helps! XO
React to: Wicked Games, Twenty Eight (Important), Die for You, King of the Fall, Wasted Times, Acquainted, Angel (also important) and Pretty. Keep the grind bro 👊🏼
Hearing you say "The Weeknd should be the artist pushing the industry forward" is crazy to hear considering he's doing that rn especially with blinding lights album
If u want a bit of change/spice to the channel.. check out jon bellion maybe react to some songs, hes the guy who made that all time low song a few years back. Jon bellion likes to be a bit different than mainstream music but its good. Like if u agree do he can see this.👍
Daft Punk can never get old. In the off chance you end up listening to their music, Face To Face is probably my favourite song, but they cover a lot of genres and styles of music. Edit: maybe not for a reaction vid, but just casual listening.
