You should shave switched to *SEMIAUTO* when shooting from a distance, if you want to hit something and preserve ammo. Sure the early weapons are gargabe either way and mosty only effective at closer range. But as soon as you get any of the more decent guns, using semiauto together with low crouch can be very effective. It really should have been the default setting on a lot of the rifels.
@@TimeSpaceWanderer with my key layout it's 9 (or possibly 9 and 0, 9 for prev. fire mode, 0 for next fire mode) But you can change it to whatever on the key binds menu in options.
This, bullets are SUPPOSED to be instantly lethal. You don't play STALKER like it's Doom, you play it like you're a serial killer sneaking up on people.
I havent played stalker in atleast like 10-12 years. But i dont remember aiming being so hard. If i remember it was just like burst everyones heads and its always like 1 shot kill. Felt like the first shot or two always hit exactly where your crosshair was.
same here. and when i got the silenced sniper rifle i was walking death, that & the odd grenade to flush enemies out of cover made the game a doddle imo.
There's lots of problems with how you play the game. Most noticeably was the combat. I rarely even see you peeking from cover, which reduces the space they can hit you. Second is the fact you're aiming at their body, armor exists, and theres not a lot of ammo, and you're shooting center mass. If you actually go for headshots, you'll notice they go down in like 2-3 shots, and your gun will be less damaged cause you shot less bullets than spraying down.
I unironically think the shooting in stalker games (at least chernobyl and pripyat) is about as real feeling as games can get outside of vr. Almost feels ARMA like in that you cant really tell what's going on where you're shooting and you can seemingly spray down a fella but hes running around still. Just makes it even more immersive when you notice their breathing is strained, or they limp away I love these games
@Eriko. Oy As a Russian I can tell you many minor mods would come with fixes, but the base game was pretty stable on the latest official patch. Thou I might be remembering things wrong as it's been forever since I played vanilla.
I bought it twice as someone sqatted on my first copy, with a few mods it's a atmospheric masterpiece that has a special kind of mystery to it's world and setting
@@chillhour6155 Totally agree. I don't tend to call it my favorite game, and yet between the 3 instalments and various mods, I've played through it well over 100 times.
Did he forget the q and e keys? Honestly I only use master difficulty, one headshot kills anything and less resources makes fights more tense and makes you buying stuff more thoughtful, end game was not so good with fights to be honest,it was fun shooting guys with eltric sniper hit hax but it doesn't hold a candle to the other gunfights I play stalker vanilla and modded and I just can't get enough
The Brain Scorcher was made unintentionally easy in Anomaly. I dropped about 40 IEDs through the rooms and as soon as I pulled the lever, about half of the enemies died.
Truly recommend the ZRP patch for Soc and CS, especially for CS. Think of them as the unofficial patches for the Elder Scrolls game. You can play vanilla but sooner or later the issues will get to ya.
This was sooner that I expected. And you're right, the film was very difficult to watch for me on first viewing, but something about it's eeriness grew on me.
When I was big into film I loved stalker, solaris, Ran, Ikiru stuff like that. I still do but try to watch a three hour movie with kids. Not a fun experience.
I love how this game is still relevant. GSC truly created something incredible. Edit: After watching the video, I must suggest using ZRP mod and Arsenal Overhaul mod. ZRP helps a TON with bugfixes and making the game more enjoyable to play overall. The Arsenal Overhaul replaces all guns in game with higher textured, real life variants of weapons that feel much more authentic to use. If you had those 2 mods installed, almost every complaint you made in this video would not have been made.
Satlker is one of the very few movies where 2 hour long dolly shots of a tree are not only acceptable but they're also necessary, сука. Also, people actually died from cancer while filming it, have some respect. But seriously, look up it's production history. Crazy stuff. Anyway, good video man.
Got the series on the steam sale cuz saw the stalker2 trailer and was like i need to play the first 3 and so just finished the first game and ran into the same issue you mentioned with horrible armor and low amo and guns jamming at the end lol pissed me off but still loved the game lol
Hey Strat! If you're ever in the mood to punish your brain with this game again, here are 2 tricks to make your time a little more bearable: - 1) Use cover that you peek over to shoot. If you have to side peek, use the lean function. You only take 20% damage from a headshot. You take 100% damage if you get hit even in your little toe. So stick your neck out in this game but keep everything else in cover. 2) If you want accuracy, ADS only after a half-second after stopping your movement. The engine is a little slow, and if you ADS too quickly after changing movement speeds it doesn't update the parameters and you'll have the same level of accuracy as your last movement. So good luck hitting anything if you're quick scoping from a full sprint. So generally, sprint to cover/stop/peek over and shoot, and you'll probably have an easier time with those gun battles. I spent about 2 years modding Stalker to weed out many of the issues you've pointed out because the AI and atmosphere offered so much potential. During that time modding, I noticed the absolutely ridiculous character damage chart used in the vanilla game. Give it a try!
Call of prypiat is one of the best games I played,it's the most stable and most refined of the stalkers, the exploration is amazing, you want to do quest because, even if you don't find anything you want you still get reputation with the merchants for cheaper stuff later. Bethesda should learn a thing or two,in stalker when you find ammo its a couple of mags not a couple of bullets, that's how you reward exploration Bethesda,I'm not spending half an hour in a dungeon and waste more resources then I find there.
Gah, i loooove SoC, and it's the only one of the trilogy i prefer to play vanilla, but god damn is everything after the brain scorcher a terrifying slog, once you cross that line into pripyat ur gonna need a shitload of ammo, suppressed weaponry and a LOT of anti rad meds, combined with the inability to repair guns in this game and it just gives me so much anxiety about progressing and if I've got enough stuff
Wow a blast from the past. Still have my brick and mortar store bought small box copy (I miss the big boxes. It's like when CDs started coming out and it was bye bye Big Sleeve Vinyl albums ). Then again, I still have all the boxed games I ever bought for decades now. I'm gunna need a bigger room. 😁
Now play it with mods like Anomaly. In Anomaly you can choose your faction from the start, game is a lot more open and focused on free roaming, locations from all games are avalible, plenty of new weapons, graphical improvements and so on. Its a competly different experience, superior imo. I cant go back to unmodded Starlker games.
Stalker is the Morrowind of shooters. It looks like the worst game ever at first but at some point, after suffering through hours of unintuitive, uncomfortable and janky shit you find pure magic unlike any other game. Its a bit like actually being in an eastern european country. If you've ever been to Ukraine you know what i mean.
Playing in master difficulty would've fixed some of your complains. Also, ZRP is basically an unofficial patch that doesn't affect gameplay. Do not use Complete mod on a first playthrough, it changes many things Also, (in master) aim at the forehead if you want to kill almost any human in one shot
What complaints? I didn't have complaints. I love the game. I like everything about it but when doing a review it helps to inform people of what they're getting into.
@@StratEdgyProductions well, you talked about enemies being a bit bullet-spongey and shots that seem to vanish, which both cause lack of ammo. Master, internationally or not, reduces the amount of bullets needed to kill you and your enemies, that eliminates bullet sponges and reduces the amount of ammo spent
STALKER is one of those games where there's nothing but disinformation floating around, and every youtuber mods it and gives the wrong impression of the game. Glad you went with vanilla, but being a STALKER fan means going to certain forums or discord channels to actually find the truths about the game. I run a STALKER discord where we try to correct some of those myths and discuss the modding scene as well
Just play Anomaly at this point. It's all the Stalker games in one package, with a new 64 bit engine. Looks great, very stable, so many additions and improvements you can't count em. Perhaps most importantly, no RNG bullet spread.
I never was able to get into Stalker. It was a broken mess that wouldn’t work and when it finally worked the game felt extremely random. Then for whatever reason the game would not start anymore. It was like god telling me to stop playing.
If I can make a small criticism of your titles from a marketing standpoint Putting Trash or Treasure at the start and the game’s name at the end, to me at least, would be less effective as less people are searching for trash and treasure as opposed to the game’s name...which would also when the game’s name is searched put your video higher in the results page or something This is from a guy with one semester of marketing class so you know take with salty grains
Hey, I don't know if you'll see this but I was watching a GDC talk by Josh Sawyer and I thought of a video you made about Pillars of Eternity. You really didn't like how they used the might stat, and in this he explains why they did that. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fvyrEhAMUPo.html. Thought that you might enjoy it
This game deserves a proper sequel on a good engine with decent Q&A so fucking bad. Clear Sky was interesting (but similarly suffered from the gauntlet end game where you have no armor left) and for some reason Call of Pripyat felt like they forgot to add an actual world to explore, it was far less dynamic (like, anomalies were basically map markers with nothing in between) and thus less fun for me. I've heard Pripyat has a really good free roam style mod though. Maybe one day I'll dare try making the game work on this modern rig and mod it up.
Might be less janky as it is published by Microsoft and is going to be released on Xbox too, so there are probably some standards to adhere to. My hope is that the jank spirit will live though in voice acting and atmosphere.
I watched all of Tarkovsky' Stalker in one sitting. Did not find it as boring as some ppl make it out to be but definitely not something u watch multiple times a year or even decade.
2:30 in the video. My tip: use GoG for old games. Most of them have the "fan" stability patches already installed or sometime even the GoG team themselves patched the games for current hardware. Saves you a lot of trouble and time. Also better mod compatibility.
0:00 yeah, Stalker developement wasn't that great but at least their boss (Sergiey) could buy more Pepsi gadgets and sport car(s) while rest of the developers barely earned a scarps... Nice you tested some mods. Everybody and their babushkas tell you to play with Complete mod because it makes the game looks better. What they will not tell you are gameplay changes. Pity that MooZe is not responsible for the soundtrack for STALKER 2,
Funny how many people day that about the Complete mod. I've heard like 10 times more people say its shitty and a waste of time than actual recommendations.
If you are going to play, as you said, counter-strike-like, then yes, stalker difficulty is the way to go. Master is much more rewarding, but you have to completely change your play style to stealth. If you are getting oneshot on the stalker already, it will be easier to deal with the enemies. Grind to buy military armor or exoskeleton in the Bar. Use a pistol more, don't rely solely on rifles, save the ammo. Carry a sniper rifle. Use more grenades, they are deadly as fuck on master. Get used to peak around every corner given that you have a decent peak option with Q and E. Use your binoculars more, it can help highlight enemies. Plan your every move. Edit: turn on the toggle crouch option, boy
I only played S.t.a.l.k.e.r Call of Pripyat, I liked it and played it for 10 or so hours(?). A few years later I started playing Anomaly and never looked back.
The atmosphere of stalker is truly masterful, it's janky as fuck in all other aspects (tho i appreciate some of it), but i loved the game just because of it's atmosphere
Try Stalker "Lost Alpha". It's essentially what S.T.A.L.K.E.R was supposed to be, before alot of content was cut. People worked on it for like a decade. Oh, and it's free.
Isn't that the one that takes 5 minutes to load and crashes constantly? One really has to have the patience of a monk to endure that pain, especially considering Lost Alpha is even harder.
NO! Stay AWAY from this mod. It is HORRIBLY paced, and I mean HORRIBLY, maps are awful. If you want a decent cut content mod play OLR 2.5 or RMA Shadows Addon. Have fun
@@Pmurder3 that's a wide spread rumor, iirc difficulty only affects how much damage you take. Master is definitely the way to go, because STALKER, imo, is best played when you actually feel you could die at any moment if you're careless, instead of "bunny hopping around like cs".
@@Pmurder3 Yes, and no. So the problem with Stalker's difficulty is the killing. The lower the difficulty, the harder it is for you to die, but they are also harder to kill. To the tune of multiple direct shotgun blast directly to the head of a bandit at point blank not killing him. On master its different, you are a squishy man made of meat of blood, but so are all you're enemies. A headshot is a headshot regardless. Its more lethal but also entirely fair. So the combat is punishing, but for everyone. You can be killed at the snap of your fingers, but so too can all enemies. Its a much, much better play on Master. The only issue is its very difficult early game, but the moment you get a rifle and some ok gear you're good.
