Dave, after watching this the other day, I went to 2 of the 3 targets that are within 4 miles of my house. Their dumpsters are full of strollers. It's crazy! I was alone, and the dumpsters were super deep, so I couldn't pull them out. I did pass the word, so hopefully, someone gets them.
Baby products get recalls for safety issues. Personally I think it crap, just so u have to buy need stuff in my opinion. Like how could a car seat have an expiration date????
I love the variety of dumpsters you go to and the buying opportunities for us viewers. The new truck is really cool. The info you share about it is really interesting. I have followed you from your start. Your charm, whit, common sense and environmental concerns are great. Wishing you and Erin all the best in your new life adventures. Babies change everything ❤
Thanks so much for the comment. I try to include some tips and how tos in the videos. I’ve learned so much from other ppl on YT and other places, so just trying to give back a bit too. Thanks for the well wishes, any day now our life is gonna change for sure. 🙂
Ev ,great till u have to replace that battery. Some go for as much as $7,000. And there again it's not an environmentally friendly product to make nor dispose of.
You could try stripping the ethernet cable into the 8 individual wires and then selling it as regular copper wire, may get away as that thin insulation variety. Stripping it is relatively easy, especially if in long lengths... cut a bit of insulation at the end, tie two pairs of wires to something and pull on the other two pairs and the exterior sleeve will just split. Would also use much less space as you could even spool the 8 wires on something.
The ethernet gets a lot more $$ than the regular low grade insulated. $0.80-1.00/lb ... at that price it's not worth stripping it for me. I'd rather go out and find more stuff. Just my 2 cents though, I know a lot of people break stuff down and make more $$, just not my jam.
To make the copper worth more money you can make a easy stripping tool and then melt it down in a grill with heat bricks. Same with you aluminum and any lead. The cleaner the better plus it takes up less storage. You can do all the melting in your back yard while you wife is resting. Then recycle the waste that you pull off. We made our tool with just 2 boards and the proper holes drilled to fit each size of wire. Then made slits in the wood for razors. Screw the razor to the wood and when its dull just replace it. Can turn a 55 gal drum full of wire to a gallon size brick .
For the copper have you thought of getting a furnace and smelting it? Even a trash can furnace that you could build for less then 100? Melt it down to pure copper get a better price
Cool idea ... I'd just rather go out and find more stuff. I don't actually find that much copper. There's definitely $$ to be made breaking stuff down .. I just dont' have the patience.
You should build side walls for ur truck. The. U should get more stuff. Should fit in ur square side wall hole just an fyi.. then your not wasting space. More organized mire money 💰
My System One ladder rack just arrived yesterday. I'll be doing an install video in the next 1-2 weeks. It'll effectively give me those side walls and a mounting area to hold stuff like the picker stick and other tools. I'm really excited about it.
Hey son all that garlic was perfect who cares it's sprouting it's still perfectly good it's still worth 25 cents a piece don't pass it up next time I would have taken a truckload of it and give it away his presence you can still use it
I have a question about your truck. How long does it take to charge it at one of the charging stations? I’ve been wondering but don’t know anyone else that has one.
My “real job” is my biz BuffaloBottleCraft.com … but I’ve got a good team in place and it’s somewhat seasonal, so I spend probably half my working hours on this dumpster diving stuff. With the $$ from scrap and reselling + the earnings from videos it was half my income last year.
