these are pulling trucks, the problem is guys buy these to drive around back and forth to work to look cool.....we ran these trucks hotshoting all over the country pulling hard huge loads we put on 500k hard miles!!!!! must change oil constantly and may go through few turbos here and there. break them in right off lot pulling hard, illuminate DPF, program correctly. POWER HOUSE.
I see soooo many of these 6.4s sitting at small used car dealerships 🤣 I just shake my head as I drive by in my 7.3 with 300,000. The 6.4 is for a certain kind of person, a person with lots of money and time
My grandpa worked for the big 3, then retired with Navistar. He can't stand Navistar. He doesn't even know about these engines and still hates them lol.
ya you and my grandpa . And millions of other people haha did you have a bad experience with a power joke ? or have you ever owned one ? Lol here we go
Almost every 6.4 you see for sale on a dealer website has about 3-8 owners lmao. It's unfortunate because their sharp trucks. The reliability just isn't there. I do think Ford over came alot of these issues with the 6.7 my 6.7 has been great so far.
@@projectswithdustin6405 They're usually good platforms to swap a cummins into. As you said they're sharp, comfortable etc, they just need an engine swap.
Why do people hate on the 6.4 just do a dpf delete and egr delete kit and tune the truck and Change oil everything 5,000 miles and they are really reliable
These comments are funny. Guys wanna do huge burnouts, throw huge tunes in em and race then expect it to live. Don’t give a shit what engine it is, if you treat it like shit it’s not gonna last. I’ve built duramax, Cummins and powerstrokes, none will last when constantly abused.
The 2008-2010 Powerstrokes are the perfect platform for a Cummins swap. If the price would come down, considering the 6.4s are pure junk, they'd be a killer swap platform.
They will go 35,000 with no oil change I remember back at a company I worked for they bought a brand new one and sent it out on the job and we beat that fucking truck to death until it finally croaked. 35k with no oil change until it finally blew up when one of the guys had a personality conflict with the other and jumped in it and floored it down the road I could literally hear the rods popping thru each cylinder wall. None the less the whole crew including me was fired. But that’s what they get for fucking with our pay every week there was a problem with the checks at that place
@@RyanJohnson-uc6zz I haven't heard one reputable builder or diesel mechanic say one good thing about them other than being quick for cheap. You can be as biased as you want, but at the end of day we all know they're hot garbage.
Sad thing is 6.4’s are bad ass truck it’s insane the amount of horsepower they can push. However you couldn’t pay me to own one way too many problems. Way better off getting a good deal on a 6.0 and getting it bullet proffered and built right. Or spend a little more and get a 6.7 in my opinion. From what I hear it’s getting harder and harder to even get good parts for these 6.4’s have you experienced that?
Hey buddy I have ah 086.4 n i deleted it and tuned it has 160;000 miles n always run Strong n out of tha blue started missen and blowen white smoke n is leaken oil any suggestions for me ???
So I have a 6.4l. I know I have an issue with the HPFP and harness. I’m also showing a bunch of codes. Most of which where electrical related. I can get the codes, I wrote them down. I am currently in the process of tearing everything down to change the hpfp and harness. Is it possible that my truck is completely junked like this one in the video? I’m worried since you said at the end that “this things showing a bunch of codes and it’s junk.” Just curious if I’m wasting thousands changing the HPFP and harness or not. Thanks for any input and great video!
If you change the hpfp you need to drop tank clean it, change pickup assembly in the tank, change the fuel pump along driverside rail, and change the fuel rails, and injectors also if you want it reliable. When the hpfp goes bad it can mess with the complete fuel system. We just did our 2010 6.4L and it was $6500
Mike that harness is a very common problem with the 6.4 and it can set all kinds of codes when it rubs against that cover. I'm sure you will be fine. I usually put zip ties up and down that harness just to put a barrier between the harness and the cover.
@@cincydieselrepair6893 so I put in a reman pump, twice now. Both times after I burp the fuel system and try to start truck it just pours diesel fuel under the truck. Almost as if the high pressure side of the pump is leaking between banjo bolt posts and pump housing. Have you ever heard of that? Is it possible I’m doing something wrong? I’ve verified the fuel lines are tight and not leaking, hence me doing this job twice. I have a new pump coming now and get to do this for the third time. Lucky me!
