I remember as a kid, the behavior of my narcissistic father would tell me to shut up while sitting at the dinner table! He was depressed and uncomfortable speaking to me. He was always emotionally shut down and he refused to allow me to sing in the house.😂❤

I am sorry about your rough childhood. We form many schemas in our childhood and use them later in life. What tools will you use to start releasing trauma and change old, outdated schemas?

This isn't trauma and your dad isn't a narcissist. I tell my boys to shut up at the dinner table all the time. They will learn manners. There will be discipline. That's life, not trauma. You're not a victim.

@@bignickenergy723 Do you know the OP's father personally? How can you determine what he is/was or not? How can you teach manners while being unmannerable? Discipline consists largely of setting an example and modeling proper behavior.

At times the only way I feel calm is when I watch tragedy and death on the TV/computer screen. I guess I feel safe in comparison! I also never felt safe at school. I never worried about shooters, only cold and judging narcissistic teachers! This discussion helps me bring up these realizations that I have not had quite on this level of consciousness before. Thanks Doc Snipes. I love the way you are an authority figure yet "attachable" (approachable). All the authority figures in my life were very strict and did not EVER listen to my feelings and that they were going "too fast". They mimicked the way I was not attached to my father except in trauma. I always felt afraid and went deep inside myself while my father constantly me I "was fine" and he got angry about it. With no safety, my "developmental age" stayed very young and I stayed very afraid.

When I was five, I remember that my mother would leave me stranded at the department store on purpose! Then the police woman would buy me a big bag of candy while searching for my mom and bringing her back to me! This was done to me twice a month either at the library, church, school or she’d leave me at home alone with my sister and brother to go to church. Church was her sanctuary to get away from my narcissistic father’s clutches and an unhealthy, unfulfilled marriage.

I wish there were a way of pointing some of this out or getting this information to my current therapist. Doing it without offending her or getting an attitude thrown at me (like I get when I mention Dr. Ramani) would likely be impossible though. I really wish there were a list of therapists who have learned from you. I'm really struggling

If you feel you can't be honest with your therapist or can't give feedback I really doubt the efficacy of treatment. I'm not certain of your circumstances but maybe you can try discussing with them and if that doesn't work, finding someone else you can be honest with.
@d.froggiez369
@d.froggiez369 Год назад
@@arowace498 yeah. You're absolutely right. I have a hard time speaking up for myself though. & I'm finding it hard to believe they are actually qualified at this point. She doesn't remember anything I tell her, not sure if she's not taking notes or not reviewing them but having to repeatedly tell her about traumatic events b/c she doesn't remember anything I tell her is only making things worse. Already started looking for someone else, she definitely isn't the "right fit". But now Life has thrown more at me since, with my best friend's 14 yr old son being killed, by a drunk driver who was also his father's best friend 💔 none of it makes sense. 2 towns and all the small communities in-between have been shattered. This is the 8th loss I've had since my only real sister passed away. & It hasn't even been 2 years. 😭Smh Anyhow, thank you for your thoughtful response 🤗 I hope you're doing well 💚 Sending love your way 💚🕊️ & Please be extra safe everywhere you go!

Thank you for an informative presentation and for the tremendous work that you do! I've recently started looking at your videos on RU-vid, great work! A few questions- Any advice if a patient is not able to restore the broken jar in the correct way? How important is the correct restoration of the jar? Should the trauma narrative be started with a patient who has disorganized thinking and speech? Or would it be better to wait until the patient is more settled and able to process information in a better way? Thank you.

I believe that an example of trauma is when the Government killed the founder of Reddit. He told the public that we can have free access to the law library online, I will produce access via an online server. The Government then killed him for providing access to these files via modern technology to help future Americans navigate the law library to apply it through their lives for self improvement via untouchable information access.

There should be more therapists with your attitude and style. If you alert the unwilling client about the good of meditation which is not known before done, it might lessn rsistance. In trauma-stress, it's hard to take in and do unfamiliar things, and with tiredness resistance can come from former expereinece of wasting resources on protocols with no effect, a wrong generalization. Does the law and Human Rights of the UN still apply even when social- Aspergers- and healthcare
