Hey Paddy, The problems you're having with your Pannier racks is because they're locking out your rear suspension. On top of that the nuts don't look to have very much thread engagement. So they'll vibrate off pretty easily. You should actually have a bar going between both your box mount on the lower rear corners instead of bars going to the suspension. It will make your ride a lot smoother and won't risk breaking your shock mounts off. It might also be bending the top brackets of your box mounts or parts of the bike they're bolted too. I hope this helps. Riding in northern Thailand on a Wave 125 was the most fun I had last year before covid. So your videos are a great escape. :-)
Poignant, but it is history now. We cannot forget, so I am glad there is memorial to everyone and everything. And life keeps going on but an indelible impression to astounding forces of nature.
You're one of the bravest adventuress around. I've done some crazy rides in NThailand on 150cc, but it takes balls to travel this far on a Honda Dream!
Great content as usual Paddy! I’ve been too the museum myself and it brought back so many memories as I left Thailand 3 days before the tsunami hit. Breaks my heart every time and that’s why I will forever hold a place in my heart for Thailand and especially the people. 💙🇹🇭
We stayed in khao Lak last March just before lockdown .. we visited the museum and it’s a very surreal experience especially the wall that’s over 10 metres representing the height of the wave at that point .. so sad .. the lady we spoke to lost her parents .. they sent her and her kids up the hill but didn’t make it themselves .. so so sad 😞
I was in Thailand just after they mounted the Patrol boat, it is very humbling at the power of the sea, and the tragic loss, everywhere I looked there as damaged, yet the eternal Thai, they were already rebuilding, I also went over to Phi Phi and the same there in regards to damage etc... The movie "The Impossible" I think it was called with naomi watts is a very good account and a must see... well done on another great Vid.. Paddy and Dreamy Rock !
Appreciate very much you show us Khao Lak - we can't go there because of "the current situation". This is a place I want to go and will do so in the future, including the amaizing Khao Sok national park .
That museum. Wow. True that everyone who was alive at that time remembers where they were the day it happened. I was teaching full time. And for years previously I had photos of Phuket and other beach places in Thailand papering my walls behind my desk. So the tsunami was a big deal mentally for me, and certainly the devastation and loss was horrible. Thanks for posting this.
Saw that police boat in 2010 when it was just supported on wood beams. Went back in 2019 & saw all the memorial they have built around it. Very touching place.
such joy when another video drops...knowing you've survived another crazy adventure. HA! 😉 and i too would be flustered after visiting the museum. such sadness in a place of beauty. keep rocking on, paddy.
Been in Khao Lak a few times at Ayara Villas, one of the best things to do is to walk along the beach towards the headland and visit the restaurants/bars along the way, and then take a cab home, or preferably the other way around
I’ve worked/lived in Thailand for over 17 years- now retired. Your video clips of the Southern provinces ( below Phuket) have encouraged me to explore the area once I get vaccinated 🥺.( It won’t come soon enough). BTW Very clear narration as you talk while riding the bike. And do you make the drone videos? Keep up the good work 👍🏼
Loving your videos Paddy. I’ve been to Thailand too many times to count but work is looking to move me there from Hong Kong. Your vids give me so much excitement to move. ❤️🍔🍺🛵
Hi Paddy! Love your video as always. So sad with the memories of the disaster. I'm from Sweden and there was a huge amount of people from my country that died that day 😞
Found you on your Koh Lanta video but now watched back from the start and up to date. Absolutely loving your videos and cant wait to see the rest of the trip 😎
Enjoyed the video. I'm just back from Khao Lak. I left the Maldives just before days before the tsunami hit which submerged the resort we were on. Interestingly, when we revisited that island 8 years later we were shown the tide mark of high the water was. Cheers!
Oh mate, I can’t wait to see the Muay Thai experience you have.... I spent a lot of time training in Samui, it is a magical, beautiful art and I hope you enjoy and take in as much as you can. You’re really kicking ass Paddy... those drone shots are getting awesome. Please be safe and keep your guard up.... enjoy Nak Muay 👏👏🙏🙏👌
Im a contractor who builds decks and its always interesting to see in your vids the cafes and restaurants and stops that have patios with little to no railings. Never get away with that here in USA. Sue happy country if someone fell
The tsunami museum was a bit sad....I remember watching some footages on the news in San Francisco back when it happened and I could just imagine the awful impact it had on thousands of people on vacation there, not to mention the Thais who lost everything there! Thanks for sharing this 🙏
That bridge and Thai man pointing at you was super sketchy, Paddy! Reminded me of the scene in the movie "The Beach" when they discovered the poppy field. Glad you got out of there!
Paddy is back from the caves , positive and smily more then ever straight to a sad memory , Khao Lak ... heartbreaking . Can’t wait to see Paddy punching and kicking .... Sa wa dee krap ....
Lovely video again! Sad, the Tsunami part, it was a terrible thing the devastation it did. Gonna be good to see you do some good training in the next video!
Love your vlogs Paddy. I've spent the last 4 days watching them all. I live in Hua Hin in Thailand & hope you stop buy there at some point. Your Thailand's answer to Allan Car, keep up the good video's & enjoy yourself.
@@domi9577 You are right. I've just check. That boat is there for special mission. It was there to guard VIP person, which was Khun Poom. However, I was wrong the memorial is not specifically for Khun Poom. The boat were push from the sea to this spot and they held this area as memorial for the lost of all people from the Tsunami event. Also, the moment Khun Poom was hit he was walking along the beach with his guards and his servant. They were taking picture of the pre tsunami, when all the water were suck back to the sea. Then they were out run by the wave later on.
Watched every video you've done so far Paddy. Love the channel, heading to Thailand as soon as its moved to the green for GO category on the governments covid list. Come on Honda! give the fella a new bike!!!!!! How do we get Paddy a new bike guys?
I did some muay thia kickboxing up in Chang mai and it was bloody hard work, very demanding on your body and very disciplined. You would agree paddy!!!!
Great as always ,Tsunami so sad 😥Spent a whole night watching Muay Thai in Bangkok 's main stadium great night out ,always fascinated me ,so looking forward to you trying paddy ,Little tip ,don't pick a small guy to spar with ,They can take a flys wing off mid-air with one kick 🤣
Enjoy yr video Btw you should drive from KhaoLak about 30 km to visit Takuapa, the classic old town that have history about 1000 yrs, This town is like the hidden destination that so fascinating. You can google Takuapa for more information and pictures, enjoy your trip
You need to eat at the Lucky Restaurant Sea food at Bang niang road. And that road is usually one of the most amazing restaurant and bar streets in Thailand. This oposit of the Museum you visit in this film. Right side of the 7 eleven. Thx for this video. I have been to Khao Lak so many times
I enjoy your videos. I had been to Thailand back in December 2019 and just loved the beaches, the nature. It was like I never wanted to leave but had to leave after my vacation. I know visiting all provinces in Thailand on a scooter would take a long time. I am wondering how long would it take to cover all states in USA or even India for that matter on a scooter.
Have been to the real Memorial Grounds in 2015...It is near a very small village with very narrow streets . All the Worldleaders were there on December 26 -2014 When you see the village it's hard to imagine all those big cars [ Obama with the Beast.] driving there .When I watched that Memorial on TV , decided to go there on my next trip in February 2015 .The Grounds are impressive ; On a cliff is a giant white Buddha . There is a wave with names and pictures of the people dead and missing....It was sad but so peacefull. Will never forget.....
Beautiful country-side. Was that 'still' image of the mosque surrounded by devastation in Thailand? Looked like the one in Banda Aceh, Indonesia - same tsunami though!
My wife and I started our love affair with Thailand months after the tsunami. Visiting Khao Lak we noticed the naval boat. Great they have made that part of a memorial. I am not sure of the beach these days, but the personal messages, back then, were incredibly moving.
Love the videos and the 77 Province idea. Briefly thought about visiting every Temple in Thailand until I found out there are 40,000! Having the top mount on the saddlebags on the frame and the bottom one on the swing arm is a bad idea. One end is fixed while the other moves up and down. Need to rethink it.
Your bolt keeps snapping because that bracket is preventing your rear wheel from moving up (or down) when you hit a bump. It is basically preventing your rear shock from working at all. You have effectively turned your Honda scooter into a hard tail (no shock). I am surprised you could not feel a huge difference in the quality of your ride when fully loaded.
Hey I got an idea! Let's drive down a random road, get lost, eaten by ants and trespass on someone's property and maybe just disappear. Love the anything can happen. Thanks for my dose of Thailand!
