As the previous post said, the bus from Utsunomiya is no longer available and the only bus is from Mito station. Thank you for sharing your experience.
The bus service from Utsunomiya station was discontinued, so you'd have to take the bus from Mito Station instead (yes weekends only). But you can still access the museum via taxi from the nearest station. The latest info can be found here: www.mr-motegi.jp/eng/access_m/#bus
Great video! But as a heads up, the bus timetable has changed. There is no longer a bus from Utsunomiya to Motegi Resort. Source: I’m at the bus stop right now trying to speak with a bus driver. 😂
Technically you can use the JR Pass since it's a JR Bus, however you should confirm how to do so. I don't think you can just show the bus driver your JR Pass and he will let you on. But I could be wrong. I think maybe you need to buy a bus ticket ahead of time from a JR station. This is just a guess. The bus ticket is not expensive so I decided to pay by IC card to make it easier.
