If I spoke fluent Vietnamese like you, I am sure that the country of Vietnam would look and feel completely different than it does for me today. Congratulations on your conquering this difficult language! Learning fluent Thai has done exactly this same thing for me now that I am living in Thailand.
Mark, I'm so grateful that you continue to share these experiences. Your videos were an inspiration when my wife and I first moved to Hanoi from the USA in 2013. We have since moved far away, but your stories continue to be a great reminder about why Vietnam is such a special place, and why we must return in the future. Thank you!

My theory is the time you first spent somewhere is 'the greatest'. For you it's the early 90s, for me it's Saigon in 2016. Someone will be having THEIR greatest time right now in 2024! Yes it changes but the city always keeps the 'special stuff'.
