I'm here because I just listened to the Isley Brothers' tiny desk and holy moly monster bass tone!!! of course you two know each other!! :) beautiful bass brothers right here!! wow!!
Thanks so much for interviewing Maurice. I grew up in Ghana and heard a lot of his work....especially with Fred Hammond (e.g., Radical For Christ...etc). I always wondered who was on bass and was amazed that he always gave the music 'exactly' what it needed. In a nutshell, his playing is the epitome of simplicity and excellence.
What an awesome interview!! Two bass legends, shooting the breeze!! You guys make me proud to be a Chicagoan, and a bass player!!! To have so many stories to share is amazing!!! But when Maurice mentioned Kahari (Parker), a family friend, it brought back good memories!! Rest In Heaven, Kahari!! You will be remembered, always!!
Thank you! for this great interview. Im from New Zealand, I first heard Maurice on Fred hammond "speak those things" in the early 2000's. He inspired my bass playing with many other young pacific islanders growing up in the Samoan Assembly of God churches 🙏🏽
Even though I’m not a bassist, Maurice is one of my all-time favorite bassists. It’s great to see how these people that we look up to came up into the scene. It’s very inspirational. What I keep getting from these interviews is, “Just be ready.”
This right here, two of my bass heroes in one room😐...this 2 major reasons I work so hard at all hours of the night😂😂. Thank you Sharay, for everything you do. Thank you Sir Maurice for opening my eyes to different territories bass wise.
Boy I 've waited for this interview for years and thanks so much Sharay for getting him. He's inspired myself and a whole generation of bass players. Can t talk about gospel bass without mentioning Maurice Fitzgerald!!
I remember my first time seeing Maurice with Fred Hammond i got so excited because i thought it was my homie Ron Turner a dope 🔥 bassist they look like twins its crazy... Great interview
Your Right, think everyone has one. Just saw your message and was kinda surprised at your impression. You gotta hear him do his Bobby Jones impression.... HILARIOUS!!!!
