How is the public transportation there? I’m planning to go on this coming September but still contemplating whether or not should I hire a driver.

Hire a driver can be nice way to visit some place outside of the jogja city like famous temple. There are public transportations in Jogja but not really developed so you will still take taxis at some point. Hope it helps you plan your travel ;)

Hello, yeah sometimes you can find alcohol in the market. Not everywhere though. We drank beer only once in the restaurant 😅

Mostly no, there is no alcohol in markets. Some restaurants had it, specifically those serving Western cuisine or pork (especially but not only Prawirotaman area). They actually sell EMPTY liquor bottles as souvenirs in Malioboro lol, apparently to decorate your house and impress guests that you drink alcohol.
