Hi, you will need to follow the signs to Flight Connections. You will have to pass through security at T5 but the passport check if any will be very minimal and usually done just before you board a flight to Chennai. Please remember to carry your OCI card if you have one. The terminal as you can imagine is quite big (you may have to take a train within the terminal but not always) so just give yourself as much time as possible.

No PCR tests required anymore for travel to UK.

hi, your son will be able to come with you inside the airport and help you with check in and luggage, he can come with you until the security gate after that you have to go by yourself. Or if you are worried you can request for passenger assistance while collecting your boarding pass and someone from airport will take you until the boarding gate.
