The Prince Vijaya (Full name=Vijayasingha) and his retinue were driven off from Lata country by the King Singhabahu. And their princesses were also were sent by a ship to sea. Those princesses were luckily landed on the Maldive Islands. Then it came to be known by themselves as "Mahila Divaina" (Island of Mahilas or Ladies", then later "Mahala Divaina" and then changed into "Mala Divaina". "Divehi Basa" is their language, that means Language of the Island in which we find hundreds of similar words to Sinhala language. Prof. Vinee Vitharana has composed a book on 'Divehi Basa' which is very important work regarding this subject. Buddhist monuments were there and Pagodas (Dageba) is called 'Usthumbu' in their language. 'Budu-Ge' means our 'Budu-Ge' (Shrine room -Buddha's).
@beligalledhammajoti1700 , so you have explained to yourself, why the Maldives is called "Maldives". Do you know that the Maldives is not called "Maldives" in Divehi, the language of the Maldives. The Divehi language name of the islands has always been "Divehiraajje" ދިވެހިރާއްޖެ . That is what was written on title deeds, proclamations and grants given by Maldive kings to their subjects. That is the name of the Maldives on Acts enacted by the Maldives parliament even today. Identity cards, passports and driver licences issued by the Maldives authorities refer to the Maldives as ދިވެހިރާއްޖެ in the Divehi language. The word originally meant "Islander Kingdom". Divehi means "island-dweller" or "islander".

yeah its wonderful episode. What was the island name that you have visited? If you would have removed that city of male life part, you would be able to add more in that island life. I am staying Maldives and I know there are many to add. But I can understand that you need to add everything in 22 minus time frame.
