Travelers learn hard lesson on long term parking 

Pretty much, leave your car in your garage. Have a friend drop you off and pick you up. Buying them dinner is cheaper than the long term parking fee.

Get a ride to the airport or whatever. Don’t long term park.

Most of the time when you park and sign your “Reservation” you’re also signing an indemnity that releases the company from claims against them for damage, theft, etc. standard license to park long term

Everyone says leave your car at home, take an uber or have someone drop you off. But what do you do if you are coming from another state? For me, I live in middle GA. So that means I would have to drive 2 hrs north to atlanta just to fly back south to a port that's only 5 hrs away.

Every long term parking I have ever been to has a clearly posted disclaimer as well as a disclaimer on your parking ticket that they are not responsible for your vehichles contents. That is why if I use long term parking I strip my car before hand and leave the clove box, center console, etc all wide open to show there is NOTHING in the car.

This is why I take an Uber or get a ride when I travel so I don’t leave my car unattended in a parking lot

Having lived in Oakland,CA for 15+ years . I've learned another good reason to set your comprehensive (not collision coverage) deductible to 0 (Zero). The impacts to your premium as usually minimal. This situation just screams: "Inside job"

Erase your home address from your car's navigation system and from your car registration sticker. Otherwise, someone breaking into your car can find out where you live and they'll break into your home. This has happened to travelers who left their car in a long term parking lot.

This reminded me of my LA Trip. We paid the $50dollars for the parking lot, which was right next to the downtown hotel we stayed in. The second day, we went down there and our rental car’s right mirror was smashed! We asked the staffs there, they said they knew nothing about it, and there was no surveillance camera at all. Due to the lack of evidence, the police officers couldn’t do anything. They left us the company contact, after we came home, the responsibility was all on us! We paid extra $500 as compensation. We couldn’t believe they just got away so easy! Government should really do something with this kind parking companies!

Sure, leave your vehicle and keys with a bunch of low-paid thieves and then wonder why stuff was stolen and/or damaged. That makes sense....

How is a Glove Box worth 1500$?

We left out of fort Lauderdale for a carnival cruise, i guess when i parked the car i forgot to roll up my passengers side window i had my gun and a grand in the glove box. When i got back i noticed that there was a trash bag on window and i thought some one broke in but it was the opposite, a worker there actually taped up my window when he saw it left open and my money and gun was still there this also was not a fenced lot. Shit just happens sometimes just happens sometimes.

Rich people can't afford a taxi or uber lyft , neighbor giving a ride, family member- friend, coworker ...pay someone come on now!

This is what a beater is for, you dont have to worry about leaving important things or it being a nice car someone can scratch

first dont take your stinking car call a cab or a uber get dropped off and picked up.. leaving your car for days at a time at a airport is asking for trouble.... an uber is worth the extra money or a cab theres cabs right there all the time ready to pick you up

Don't leave valuables in your car, and don't lock your glovebox, and thieves will have no reason to pry it open destroying it.

I always take a uber or other car service it works out to be about the same cost and peace of mind.

Long term parking is a waste of money and a dangerous game. Uber,Lyft,taxi, rideshare,limo, get family or friends to give you a ride. Hell if you're really picky you can rent a car from Enterprise or other legitimate car rental companies and have them drop you off AND pick you up. There are tons of options that are safer and easier than long term parking.

When I park I'm going to put a snow cover over my ride also use a club on the steering wheel. If y'all got motion detecting cameras that's wise.

Leave your car where you normally do and get a ride to your destination. It is cheaper, less hassel, and usually safer. You can also have a neighbor check on it from time to time.

here's a thought...leave your car at home and take a cab. If you have enough money to take a cruise, you can afford an uber. No sympathy for poor or lazy planning.

Multiplied by at LEAST 30 weeks out of they year? These guys pull 468k+ in profit a year and won't give this woman $500 because they don't have a security guard?

You shouldn't have to put up with companies that "pass the buck" when it comes to this type of situation. They know what their responsibilities are when you pay them for their services. But their employees sometimes don't care about your car, to them you're just another customer, and that's it......

Every garage ever had a sign posted and printed on your receipt. Not responsible for lost stolen or damaged vehicles, or contents within. It sucks but short of having the vandal on video and identifying them that way, she is kinda screwed.

Take a taxi. Long trips like that, why would anyone want to park their car in some jam packed lot instead of their cozy home.

Every parking garagr I've ever parked in has signage and paperwork you have to sign that says they are NOT responsible for your car or it's content. What a worthless piece of "news".

I paid 103$ for a car rental when i went on a cruise returned it to a different location and 96$ when i returned home

i never use cheap parking spots online. They're all 3rd party and it owns by another company... i always use the parking at the airport..it is more safe

Either have someone drive you to the airport or take mass transit if there is a transit connection to your airport.

This is why you check the ratings of any place you use . And I pay that extra bit of money to park at the terminal right next to the boat I don't trust the other places and I'll just pay more to be secure.

This saddens me. Given the very basic laws regarding when a bailment for property is made, I would never think of suing accompanied for letting me park my car in an unsecured, outdoor lot.

Suing the company that was just in charge of the booking is like suing Expedia for a hotel room being dirty, they don’t manage the hotel, they only book it. I’m sure this lady tried to cut corners and went for the cheapest lot and well you get what you pay for. Many of these lots have a policy that any theft or damage to vehicles is not their responsibility. Not their fault you can’t read.

They don't owe her anything. When you park you sign a release of liability. They provide a spot, not security.

If you're a vehicle-dweller, I extremely highly recommend hiding all of your items for thieves unable to see anything and buy a cheap shitty vehicle for thieves to be unattrated to your vehicle that would tremendously decrease your chances of thieves braking inside your vehicle.

We just returned from a week-long trip to California. My mom parked in the long-term parking lot at the airport. Supposed to be $49. Ended up being $8,000. They said we had been parked there since April 2016.

First of all if u plan a cruise and take a car that ppl are obviously gonna notice then of course they will break into it. Rich ppl think ahead take a beat down old car that ppl wont even notice especially if ur gonna leave it in a lot for a long period of time.
