The Covid test that I got was $200 because it was a rapid test that took twenty minutes to get the results. It will be cheaper if you don't get the rapid test. The place I went to was American Family Care and they have several clinics in the Portland area. Not sure if they're elsewhere in the country. Feel free to share your Covid testing experiences and tips below including ideas for other places you can go and how much it cost (including outside the US such as Mexico).
@DrifterDave
@DrifterDave 3 года назад
That's crazy expensive! I have a feeling there's a lot of gouging going on. Here in Canada, I can easily go get an asymptomatic test for free (which can be used for immediate travel, once the results come in). But, I've heard that they can be upwards of $400 a pop in some places in Europe (Switzerland, I think).
@leswhynin913
@leswhynin913 3 года назад
@@DrifterDave one downside here in Canada though is that you need to pay $2000 minimum when you return to pay for the hotel quarantine period
@DrifterDave
@DrifterDave 3 года назад
@@leswhynin913 Not yet, but soon! That's the one thing I'm trying to find a workaround to - it's going to be tough. The best bet for the coming months is to fly out of Canada, then fly into the USA and rent a car to cross the border (no $2000 quarantine planned for land border arrivals, as the hotels are only set up in the 4 major cities). I'll get creative - nothing's going to hold this traveler down 😎
@GabrielTravelerVideos
@GabrielTravelerVideos 3 года назад
But isn't the land border between the US and Canada closed? Or are there some points where it's open?
@DrifterDave
@DrifterDave 3 года назад
@@GabrielTravelerVideos It's open for essential travel. For Canadians returning to Canada, this can be for any reason as we have a Constitutional right to come home. Travelling by land into the USA is much harder (you need to be working there, receiving medical care, studying, or visiting an ill family member). Those rules aren't applied entering the USA by air, however. With your dual citizenship, you'd be free to enter Canada at any land border for any reason (but would have to quarantine 14 days).

Now this is unbelievable . Gabriel is no joke he never fails to surprise us . So after coming back from seven month of overseas travel you would think that this guy would take a break and take it easy for a while but no , not Gabriel . He must have unlimited energy because he never stops he just keep going. And remember , no matter where you go covid 19 related risks, restrictions , and limitations are there which makes travel more risky and difficult. And now he is in Alaska but not in the summer , in the winter . So when some people asked earlier why I said that he is beating the competition by a long shot , well this is why .

I grew up in Juneau so if you end up staying longer in the area, there are some great cabins you can hike or snowshoe to and plenty of other things to do in Juneau. Awesome to see Juneau! Born and raised in Alaska but have never gotten the chance to visit the capital. Thanks for the videos 🍻

Don't do anything stupid there! I watch videos by Hobo Shoestring. He's a guy that travels North America almost exclusively by hopping trains. As a challenge he decides he's going to the artic circle via train and hitch-hiking in Alaska. In the dead of winter! Last week he was on the Alaskan highway waiting for a ride in deep snow. No one came. Waited, still no one came. Temperatures were dropping. Finally, one guy in a small truck drives by and waits on the shoulder of the road. As Hobo Shoestring nears, the guy drives off! Temperatures are now MINUS 42 degrees F! He's still waiting. Finally and mercifully a state trooper (off camera) says he will give him a ride. But NOT NOW, because he has to investigate an accident farther down the road. Shoestring starts lamenting on camera why he ever would take up such a stupid challenge and said it was all pointless. He was a pitiful sorrowful sight on the road surrounded by snow. The cop later came back of course to save his life, otherwise his video would have never ended up on RU-vid last week, but could have been material for another book "Into the Wild II," another Alaskan tragedy.

Not surprised the flight was so expensive. I've been looking at flights to Europe and they've been increasing for about the past month :(

Whoa 27.00 for fish and chips? Looked great but you'd think fish there would be better price. I can see why you didn't get a drink.
