[Traveling Korea] Episode 9: Hobak's Birthday Party at Darimie family Gyeongju #2 Gyeongju Pool Villa

Pool Villa?!
In the past, we would invite relatives, friends, and coworkers to a grand party. I remember renting an event hall for my eldest nephews' first birthday parties and having them in a big way. That was 15 years ago, 10 years ago.
I think the trend is gradually changing to a more modest first birthday party and a more intimate family gathering. Especially after COVID, it seems to have changed to a family trip with grandparents and siblings. That's why pool villas are even more popular.
Today, we're going to go swimming and play at Gyeongju Pool Villa, have dinner, and have Hobak
's birthday party. We're planning barbecue for dinner and galbitang for breakfast the next morning.
Pool Villa People talk a lot about pool villas, but this is my first time at Darimie 's. It has 3 rooms, a spacious living room, and a very spacious kitchen. It's brand new. It seems like they rented a house, probably about 50 pyeong.
It was a kids pool villa, so there were toys, dolls, cars, beds, etc. for the kids to play with. When moms bring their kids, they start by cleaning up things like glass tables and flower pots that the kids might break or get hurt, but this place was child friendly. The small considerations for the kids made the moms feel safe.
After the kids finished swimming, the real Hobak birthday party began. Grandma dressed the Dalimie in dresses that she bought herself and made their hair pretty. While I was changing the Dalimie , my law in mother prepared the first birthday table. I was grateful to the family for taking care of the fruit cake, rice cake, etc. for the Hobak 's one-year-old birthday party.
And then we were going to have a barbecue for dinner. However, DDabong-mom, who didn't have enough energy, just fell asleep. I think she told me to eat and sleep somewhere, but I couldn't adjust to the time difference, so I slept like I was going to collapse. When I opened my eyes, it was morning! I've only seen the delicious barbecue meat in pictures.
For breakfast, I had galbitang. It was galbitang and side dishes made by my husband mother, who is always good at cooking. My husband mother's side dishes are always delicious. That's why I missed it so much even in the US. I can fully enjoy grandmother's cooking, and grandmother's love is all in the cooking.
After eating galbitang for breakfast, I went outside and there was a cafe on one side of Somdari Pension. The owner said it was a place where they could have tea and chat, and I really liked this place. There were teacups that he had carefully collected, a sunny space, and the owner suggested that we have coffee in the morning. There was also the charm of brewing coffee yourself with a hands-drip coffee.

The yard of Somdari Pension was really nice. Last night, the kids picked cherries and barley from somewhere, and they were picked right from the garden in the yard.

When I went out in the morning to enjoy the sunlight, the kids wanted to show off to their mom what they had seen yesterday, so Dalimie showed me around. There were various plants, such as cherry trees, strawberries, and tomatoes that they grew themselves. We were able to meet frogs and chickens. It was so eco-friendly that the kids loved it.
Looking at the owner's well-kept garden, I wondered what our American garden would be like. A few days before our trip to Korea, we hastily sowed seeds and quickly planted pepper seedlings that were drying up. Looking at the garden, I could feel how diligent the owner is and how much he loves nature.
I felt happy when I saw the Dalimie
giggling while picking tomatoes and cherries in the yard. This was the reason we visited Korea! I hope you love Mom and Dad's hometown while having fun.
