The expedition through Dovrefjell in search of musk oxen began in Oppdal. Here I did some shopping to replenish my supplies and set off on foot along the road to Driva. Here I could enter the wilderness and climb the heights of Dovrefjell. I planned the route to avoid DNT huts and the trails leading to them as much as possible, hoping that there would be a greater chance of encountering oxen along the deserted trails. I planned to finish in Hjerkinn so that I could get to Snøhetta along the way and then see it from Tverrfjellhytta (aka: Wild Reindeer Pavilion / viewpoint Snøhetta).
This time the weather was not in my favor and it rained more or less most of the time. And the peak of Snøhetta was still hidden in the clouds. Fortunately, I managed to shoot into the weather window. After several days of unsuccessfully searching for oxen, at least at the top I managed to catch a sight. And the biggest surprise turned out to be that musk oxen like the area where there are plenty of people - between Hjerkinn and Snøheim turisthytte - a shelter that is the base for Snøhetta and which can be reached by bus. And since the weather was not favorable, I even considered taking the bus. Fortunately, I decided to go, although I didn't expect to see them again, but I was pleasantly surprised!
