Traveling to Cairo independently and visiting the Giza Pyramids is a true adventure and an opportunity to discover the real Egypt. In this video, I tried to show you in great detail how my family and I went without tour buses and guides. Our goal was not about saving money; in fact, I think a guided tour would have been cheaper. We wanted to see the Cairo Museum and the pyramids at our own pace, without being tied to a group, explore the city as it is, not as guided tours present it, and, of course, avoid going to shops and souvenir stores and wasting precious time on that.
We traveled from Sharm El Sheikh to Cairo on a regular intercity bus, and the journey took 6 hours. Thanks to our early arrival, we were the first to enter the Cairo Museum and were able to explore the exhibits without the crowds that arrived later in the day. Even a brief visit took us more than 4 hours-just imagine how many interesting exhibits and artifacts are there. Many sections of the exhibition are truly mind-blowing.
After the museum, we strolled through the city and visited one of Cairo's prominent landmarks, the Cairo Tower. In the video, I tell an interesting story about its origin. During our walk, we found ourselves on both sides of the Nile several times.
We stayed at a hotel right on the Giza Plateau with a view of the pyramids and the Sphinx. Waking up in the morning and seeing the pyramids so close was a delight. On the second day, we dedicated our time to the Giza Plateau, the famous pyramids, and the Sphinx. Again, thanks to our early wake-up and the hotel's proximity to the pyramids, we were among the first to enter the complex and had the opportunity to calmly enjoy the pyramids, take photos without crowds, descend into the pyramids without queues, and even ride camels.
Watch the video until the end, and you will see how much our independent trip cost. And make sure to visit the pyramids as well because it is an incredible experience and memories for a lifetime.
