I am in Istanbul next weekend. What should i visit on Asian side? Shortly. Please help. 😊i have Plan to take a boat from Sirkeci to Harem. And whats your opinion? Is it better to take Halva and magnets on Asian side or Istikal? And how to pay taxi from airport? In euros or change the money on airport? Uber or yellow taxi? Thank you.

@@kristijan7001 Hi ☺️ there must be exchange offices in the Istanbul airport so you get some Turkish liras for your taxi ride. For the magnet, the European side is better, it is the actual historical side ( it has more historical places) And definitely try to eat döner, kebap, lahmacun, baklava and one of my favorite kumpirrrr. Hope you will enjoy the city? have a nice holiday 🙏🏻

I'm actually very impressed by your well-informed description of the city (and the culture) and your tips. This is an amazing video for anyone who's planning to visit the city. I would just like to add, Eminönü is the most chaotic part of the city, and while it is THE old city, there are also places like Ortaköy, Üsküdar, Vaniköy that are also historical but less chaotic. Nevertheless very beautiful too. By the way; the modern-day Turkey, The Republic of Turkey, has Ankara as its capital because M. Kemal Atatürk did not want the Republic to be seen/conceived as the successor of the Ottoman Empire. The Turkish Republic was founded by the Turkish people (not necessarily Turks, but those who identify as Turkish, which in itself was a revolution in the concept of national states of the time). So Ankara was chosen because, it was more rural, it was a young little city that they built. Just like the young republic. Whereas Istanbul was this fancy capital of the last few hundred years and in the eyes of the people, the city and its inhabitants were considered arrogant and disconnected. Which most of them were, they were throwing balls for the officers of the invading forces while people were building a resistance in Anatolia.

As far as visa, if you are an American visiting Turkey for under 30 days and you are not going to school there or not on official govt business, then you do not need a visa. Checked this info as of April 2024 (might change in the future)

You could go for an Airbnb. My favourite hotel is Levni spa and hotel, it is in walking distance to most of everything on the European side and if you get a Istanbul kard you can get around easy.

Turkey like many countries eg Japan etc should have one common transportation card/kart , which could be used in all the cities of Turkiye because a card of one city cannot be used in another city and a tourist loses leftover money from the previous city card he/she has visited. I hope concerned authorities look into the matter. This could save a lot of time, money of the tourist and the hassles for obtaining a card of a new city...🌹☺️

Love your video! We are planning to go from Zurich, Switzerland for 4 days in early Jan. 2024 or late Dec. 2024 :-) I heard that even UBER can charge/change the rate that you promised - not sure if that's true as well?

Only registered taxis are allowed as Uber in Istanbul. So, it not much different than taking a taxi. I would suggest you to stick with the public transportation. It is organized well and provides good service.

Hello again, I am perplexed on the quality of food vs. "tourist prices" in Sultanahmet where we will be staying - we only got 3 full-days from Switzerland in early Jan... Have that said, any "better" rooftop restaurant you would recommend there (I know it's going to be 3x the price ;-) )
