I find that the limited amount of accessible cabins is frustrating as I like to choose where my cabin is but then again, my disabilities are quite minor compared to some so I’ll leave them to those with more need. But I’m in the UK and have only cruised with Carnival from US ports. I have to say that awareness of the needs of those with mobility issues is so much better in the US and provision for those needs is excellent compared to here. It’s great to see you addressing this in a video. I’ve always wanted to do one myself but don’t have the experience or knowledge to give accurate advice. Thank you x

Since you no longer have to call the special department to book an ADA room those like my hubby who need a fully accessible room cannot get one because you can just book it because everyone figured out the rooms are larger.

When I was on the Sunrise in May 2022 just when the ship came from Drydock, tried to use the pool with the lifts and was told that they didn’t work. And that was one of the sole reasons that I picked that actual ship. That made me a bit sad throughout the cruise

I am not happy with the lack of excursions on Carnival. There use to be a filter for accessible excursion's and they have completely taken that choice out. You would think that they would increase the availability instead of eliminating it all together.

I have cruised on Carnival with a mild walking disability, and the main problem I had is that getting into the bathroom and then again getting into the shower there were high metal partitions each about a foot tall. It seems like those would be insurmountable for wheelchair users.

I am going on the Valor in 10 days with a scooter…I have an inside cabin this time because they had no other rooms available. I booked 7 months ago and I guess that was to late to get a good accessibility room with a balcony. Anyway my scooter collapses an I will stand it against the wall. It’s an inside cabin so I will keep you posted on how things go. Took a cruise on the Mardi Gras and had the best cabin I could have ask for…won’t be like that this time… this ship is old and I hope it works out ok. When you have disabilities those rooms go really quick. People who don’t need them get them so they have the big bathrooms and bigger room all together.

Hello, i know this is an older reply, but I'm going on my first cruise this week and was wondering how your experience went? I'm an ambulatory wheelchair user, I primarily walk but have neurological issues and never really know when I'll need it unfortunately. I wanted to bring my chair that folds up easily, but we have a regular small interior cabin. I'm a little worried though as I've heard the rooms are too small & difficult to really take even a foldable chair. I'm jw what your experience was as so far I've only really heard from able-bodied friends & not from anyone who actually uses a chair as well. Thanks so much! Hope you had a wonderful time!!! (Just a side note, I'm standing in for a friend who couldn't go last min, that's why I'm stuck planning last minute. Lol)

@@ShinyNix86hi - my sister cruises with a mobility scooter so I can help a little. Depends on your ship but Regular staterooms can accommodate a chair or scooter up to 21” wide. There is not a lot of room to maneuver in a non-accessible cabin but you can get the device into the cabin. There will not be the additional bathroom grab bars, but you can call the Accessibility Department and explain your needs - it’s possible they can relocate you. They are also able to provide mobility aids, such as toilet seat risers.

I don't need a fully accessible cabin. What I do need are grab bars around the toilet or a higher toilet. Does Carnival have that type of equipment on it's ships?

Would you please do this for Royal Caribbean. We are going on a cruise in early December 2022 and I will need to rent a power scooter to get around. We will be in a handicap accessible balcony stateroom. Thank you!!!

Can anyone tell me how I can get in and out of my cabin on a scooter? Because I had a very hard time as I was alone the accessible room doors are not that wide and I found myself stuck

I read elsewhere, that they asked for the door hinges to be adjusted to open a little wider. They took care of it for them. I think it was on the Mardi Gras.

I fully agree. I don’t care if they have a thick accent, I’d rather hear their voices any day over a CG voice. That’s why I won’t be watching part 2!!!

Please STOP asking people to like and subscribe 0:37 in to the video when you haven't even delivered the goods yet. Gees, give people a chance to at LEAST view your video FIRST. It's inappropriate. Like asking for a tip before you serve the food.
